NORTH DAKOTA vs. UNO - FRIDAY Gameday ********

I absolutely understand that you're being sarcastic, but I completely agree. Pepper the net and grind out some greasers. Need some bounces. -

The will? C'mon. Those guys sold out on Saturday. I thought we've all gotten over this idea that the guys don't try. -

I feel like I'd still rather see Smith up with Rhett and Pogo. JJ does play good D, though. I'm actually digging these lines. -

That or that many of them were 5 years old or younger when Blais last one a title for us lol. -

Due may be an understatement. It's really bound to happen. Big weekend from the top line. Starts tonight, boys and girls! 6-2 UND Boeser X2, Jost, Pogo, Gersh and Smith. -
Minny was the 1 seed in that regional. We were the 2. We beat Niagara in the first round and Yale beat Minny. Yale beat us in the Regional Final.
-
Ah, thought you were referring just to their D corps. But, SCSU is barely above .500, too. So wouldn't this excuse still be in play? lol
-
Ethan Prow, I guess lol.
-
So, you're discounting the games where they were successful? Alright then lol. They have the talent. Need a bounce or two. That being said, their talent needs to perform.
-
I guess I've seen them pull out of ruts so many times over the years, I kind of expect it to happen. There's plenty of talent on this team. I still don't think it's unreasonable that they'll make a run.
-
I'm not ready to bail yet. They've shown some spurts of tremendously dominant hockey. We can score. We haven't, but we can. Haven't had a fluky goal in awhile. Would love to see one to get our boys rolling a bit. No puck luck.

Was talking this over with a couple buddies after Saturday's game and I wanted to bring it up here: - Do any of you remember a stretch of being incredibly snakebit for this amount of time? I recall 2014 when we had much less talent and boat loads of injuries, but this is different, IMO. I feel like it started when Wilkie rang that one off the pipe at the end of the period (I think it was Sat against CC) that would have given us a huge momentum goal. Since then, it's been a bunch of games we could have absolutely won (maybe should have) and we miss nets, hit pipes, get robbed by the tendy, etc. I feel like, logically, this will break, won't it? When will it come? What needs to be done? UND absolutely outworked WMU in their own barn for nearly an entire game on Saturday and have nothing to show for it. I just don't understand it.

NORTH DAKOTA @ WMU - SATURDAY Gameday ********
stoneySIOUX replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Agreed on all points and I think that may keep him here. With the bolded part, I certainly wouldn't blame him, either. I also think he's a kid who realizes he's pretty darn good and will play a lot in the NHL right away, regardless of when he goes. So, why not spend another year developing? Colorado is going to be awful again next year. Why hurry? -

I think he would, for sure, being that Colorado is desperate for talent, but he just seems like a kid who's got a full grasp of the situation. He knows the money will be there whenever he decides to go. -

It won't shock me whatsoever to see him go, if he does. I just see no reason, other than monetary, for him to go. But, he knows he can make money in the NHL and that isn't going away if he stays one more season. Why not get bigger and more seasoned? -

Has nothing about being biased, honestly. I'm thinking from a perspective from what I've seen/read/heard from him in the past 2-3 years. - Hard worker - Super talented - Loves Toews and models his game after him - Tremendous leader - Loves UND Again, he doesn't scream as a kid who's looking for instant financial gratification. Would it surprise me to see a kid that talented and 18 years old take a HUGE amount of money? Absolutely not. I just think he'll stay one more year and that that was his plan all along. We'll see. -

He's 18. He's shown this year he's going to have a nice career in the NHL. He's going to get his chance to make a lot of dough. I understand the business aspect and financials, but he just seems like a kid who isn't thinking about an instant payday. -

I understand that, for sure, but he'd get a max after next year, too. Wouldn't he have taken the MJ route if he wanted to bolt after one year? Seems a lot easier than going to school. He chose NCAA for a reason and every time I hear him talk, he seems like he adores UND. -

stoneySIOUX replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Why? I have no understanding why he'd want to go there, right away. And I also have no understanding why Colorado would rush him. Stay one more year, get bigger. They aren't going to magically morph into a good team with one player, regardless how great he is. The Avs are terrible. Every time I hear Jost talk, he seems to have a huge desire to be here and loves playing for UND. I have yet to seen a convincing thing to suggest he's absolutely going. He knows he's going to have a chance to wear a letter and truly lead this team next year. I think he stays. -
Agreed. Hoff with Simo and Olson do much for me.
-
I believe SID is a part of his Asst A.D. role, in his situation. Seems like many don't agree with his political affiliations and his enjoyment of ketchup potato chips lol.

It's always a difficult night when we lose.
-
Not sorta dumb. Very dumb. Glad we're on the same page haha.
-
Conspiracy theories and insults. THIS is what SiouxSports is all about lol.

I feel like most of board feels that way. I like the optimism. We've been so dang close over the past few games of scoring a few big goals. I say we break out here. 5-2 UND ... Boeser, Jost, Gersich, Smith, Pogo
