NDSU's bench has been an issue for years. Last year we attacked them and got them in foul trouble and won easily by 18. We can do the same thing this year by driving and attacking with our guards and keep everyone fresh with a solid rotation so if it does come down to the end our main stay players are fresher than theirs. Go Sioux

I have heard Shanks likes to face the basket and shoot 10-15 feet and with his slim build is not a banger. We need a big body banger underneath and I really don't think Shanks can do that from what I've heard. I also think our rotation was poor last night with the speed we have at the guards. You could tell Hooker was done early in the 4th as he committed lazy turnovers late in the game, 7 total. Run each guard hard for about 28 minutes each and I think we could be really solid. I have to agree the guys played hard and I do believe we will be fine in the Big Sky once we get thru this month's schedule.

i ask again why was our leading scorer on the bench most of the second half and others dead tired as they got no rest and you could tell as they had no legs or shot.
-
Why has Nash been on the bench so much.
-
Hooker looks exhausted. Has Jones taken him out this game.
-
Walker may score more than Kimisky did against last year. He may go for 50.
-
Fast start for UND but we have are going to get killed down low.
-
Thanks for the video. First time I saw the shot and what a crazy shot. Very lucky it went in but very happy it did.

During the talk show I thought I heard Jones mention that Hooker and DeReon will be out of action this week for the Drake and Minnesota game. Has anyone heard what it wrong with them? This will definately hurt our chances at Drake.

One more thing you have to factor in especially the last 2 years is injuries. What could they have done with a healthy Brekke, Schuler, Webb and Huff who missed 8-10 games to start his junior season which I believe we only won 1 or 2. We played Weber last year in the championship game with 3 of our top 6 players injured. Jones should not be on the hot seat as of yet because the way his teams have finished each year and through all of the nickname issues and with no real conference to play in until these past 2 years he has done a very good job in getting players to come to UND and play for championships. Yes his OOC record sucks but so do most schools at our level playing up most of those games. He definitely deserves more years to see how he continues to recruit and finishes in the Big Sky before any plug is pulled.

I have to agree with this. Jones has done a great job of recruiting players to this frozen land and based on this past class of Huff, Anderson, Webb, Schuler and Brekke they have accomplished a great deal with players that were not highly recruited. They were stuck in the Great West for their first 2 years and all they did was win 2 conference championships and then in the Big Sky they finished third and second in there only years for the regular season and lost in the semi's by 2 points to Weber in their first year and then in the finals their final year with 3 of these 5 players injured and not playing. Even though there are times I get very upset at the way the team is playing the end results are very impressive for a program that is still early in its D1 basketball program. We are never going to be a Wisconsin or Minnesota but if we can be at the front of the Big Sky each year and compete with the Montana's and Weber's then this program will be a success. I like the recruits he has this year and next and believe they will continue to get better as we become more established in the Big Sky. Guys this is only our third year and yet we have finished in front of the perennial power Montana in the regular season and tournament last year. The Big Sky is all that matters as we will continue to get beat up year after year in our non conference schedule due to who we are playing and where.

Very bad loss. We only had 6 assists for the game and our point guards only had 1 assist each. Hooker and Tyler need to get others involved by finding the open player and dishing the ball. Thats back to back games that obviously team play was missing and I thought they did such a good job the games prior to that.
-
Great win for the Big Sky. Congrats to EWU. They easily are the team to beat now.
-
Eastern Washington is beating Indiana by 1 with one minute remaining. This would be huge for the Big Sky.
-
I agree. This team has really surprised me on how well they are playing. I never thought most of our players the last couple years really knew how to play solid defense. These current players play tight defense and keep between them and the basket with very few blow byes like years past. I love the way they move the ball on offense and find the open man with very few bad shots. This team will surprise people in the Big Sky and we should make the tournament as long as players stay healthy. Nash and Tyler will a force on offense. Jones has done a great job re-loading with this mix of players and I like the players he has coming in next year also. I agree Shields should have red-shirted as he showed nothing last night in the few minutes he played and as mentioned above where is he going to get minutes. Hobaugh needs more minutes due to how hard he plays and I especially like his defense.

Jones is not the one shooting free throws. Nash is a career 30% free throw shooter and missed his last 6 tonight. This has nothing to do with Jones. They shoot free throws everyday.
-
No doubt free throws killed us but I still liked the team play I saw. Another note, Tyler is our best point guard and I wonder if Jones will make the move.
-
That was the best and most unselfish play I have seen UND play for years. That was truly team basketball and it seemed the offensive sets where completely different than years past. If most of the players the last 4 years played like this they would have won a whole lot more games than all that one on one crap. Very impressive first half and maybe Jones and company learned from how they coached the last few years. Also, Tyler is very impressive.
-
I had heard he was playing very well and added an offensive punch so him red-shirting makes little sense if he can add some offense to this team.
-
I hope so and I would also like to see Crandall playing.
-
Sorry, but will keep what I heard to myself.
-
Sure would like to see Tyler and Crandall play. Anyone know their status for this game? Also, being the fact that Stefan did not play I figure the rumor that he is not available until the 2nd semester is true.
-
Did not see the game but 4 assists for the entire game. Did we not move or pass the ball?
-
Would not be surprised to see this starting lineup change after a few games. Nash, De Rouen and Coleman I believe are solid but I cant believe Salmonson will stay at the 5 and I see Tyler replacing Hooker. Tyler had a very impressive last year at UMKC and I believe after a few games his numbers will be much better than Hookers but will Jones make the move.
-
That was the worst display of defense I have ever seen from all the teams. Wonder if this video was actually from a game.
