Please keep putting words in my mouth, never said the gophers were a bad hockey team.

The question wasn't whether Minnesota has a lot of talent, that's obvious to anyone. The question was if they are a "contender year in and year out". Lately, I said they haven't been... They've had their down years and underperformed with the talent you referenced.

Your definition of a contender year in and year out is very different from mine. Noticed you didn't mention 10-11... Wait, would they have gone on a run if they did NOT get beat by Anchorage? Last year UMN got throttled by in state competition and missed the NCAAs... Doesn't make them a contender. The down year you're comparing it to for UND saw them get to the frozen four. It may be a thin margin but that doesn't mean that everyone gets to be a contender.

Like last year? And 2010-11? I get that you like the Gophers but the contender year in and year out lately has been the team whose message board you're on.

Not sure I completely agree with that, I think Mankato is a significantly better team since Hastings took the helm. Will they be competing for the Penrose right away? Probably not but I bet they compete for home ice at least. Time will tell if they're accepted.

If they get better, maybe we'll consider their applications as well

Dixon Bowen sure does have quite the jersey to fill picking #9, that'll be a tough transition for me.
