One of the wildest tournaments I've seen at any level, so for it to be at The Masters to complete the Career Grand Slam is unfathomable. You couldn't write that script because no one would believe it. And look out Quail Hollow in a month for the PGA. He's freed up and has won there 4 times in his career.

The thing you miss in this is, all of this success benefits UND. It makes us better throughout the season, it helps with recruiting for all NCHC teams, and it makes a huge difference in post-season success(7 of the last 9 titles). If conference success didn’t matter, we may as well be in the AHA right?

That was surprising to me as well. What was Chaves looking for in that meeting or what did Berry say that made Chaves decide to fire Berry? At the same time he said he doesn't make decisions in a vacuum so that tells me he spoke about the possibility with Armacost before the meeting. I'm not totally buying everything being sold.

Love to hear it, our d core is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Emery has a bit of a mean streak(in a good way) and I imagine one more year of experience will make him more comfortable back there.

The tough part with fans that hate the portal is Jax is going to have to use it to field a team for this year(and maybe the next) as recruiting takes a long time and it sounds like there's significant work to build UND's presence back up on the trail.

Berry wasn't a super polished public speaker as well, he got better as he went along but I remember him seeming pretty nervous in his first press conference. Also, give him a little grace. This is the biggest moment in his professional life for a school he's stuck with through it all as opposed to taking a pay raise or promotion to an NHL or AHL job. The part where he got choked up thanking his family so he ended with it got me. I know that feeling.

College hockey isn't even college hockey anymore, it's a completely different sport when you aren't recruiting a kid to develop them into the best player/person they can be. You're recruiting your commits, your recruiting other teams' players, your recruiting your own players so they don't leave. It's wild. All of it points to a GM position like Schloss brought up with Chyzyk, a head coach can't possibly keep up with all of it and still find the time to develop a strategy to break UMD's forecheck the following week.

100%, 0.6 was the inferior team(That all the sudden looked superior that night). The 2011 team was one of the greatest college hockey teams assembled. I just wish I could go back in time and watch that season again.
