Exposure-wise yes. But but fan/alumni support? Not so sure. They average over 50% fans more for hockey than they do for basketball.

After hearing Bubba and some of the guys on staff talk about UND football and what it means, it is not tough believe things are headed in the right direction.
-
Great turnout tonight. Far exceeded what I expected. And some of the coaches were even having a beer or two afterwards since that matters to some...
-
Will be interesting to hear what the coaches have to say tonight and if they offer any insight on some of the recruiting battles.
-
The team he was on was definitely on a pass first team. They only ran the ball 314 times for 1163 yards in 11 games (avg of 29 / 106 per game) vs 520 passing attempts for 3,991 yards (47 / 363). The team also had 6 different guys that had at least 20 carries (4 RB's and 2 QB's). Simmons had the second most carries on the team behind a sophomore who had 87 attempts. Tough to get a real good grasp from that. He looks good when he did get the ball though.

Because it is clearly common knowledge that is the only way that UND can get a kid over FU. They don't lose recruiting battles, just ask them. Plus he's probably just trying to stay on the good side of the new staff so they don't ban him from watching practice.

I'm not 100% sure how it works but PWO's have to have certain paperwork and fees (related to admission I think?) sent in and cleared before they can be officially announced. The difference has something to do with them not receiving and accepting financial aid/scholarship. Maybe someone a little more in the know can clear it up. Hope the other guys get them in so they can be recognized today with everyone else.

For those that might miss it, great post by the SFI guys with a breakdown on positions, links to players videos, etc. Also this picture is excellent (with full credit to them of course):

Anyone know if the athletic department is doing an all morning chat like they have in the past with different coaches taking questions? Was very enjoyable in the past and would hope they are doing it again.

Should be interesting battle in camp with him, Taubenheim and Meindel, who still has 3 years of eligibility left. I think all 3 kicked and punted in high school but Bolduc and Meindel are better punters than kickers with Taubenheim being the opposite.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. I think the past, Jones's teams have played their best basketball at the end of the season, hopefully that trend continues. Would be nice to not have to face Weber until the Big Sky finals which likely means finishing 1, 2 or 3.

Excited for Kellum. His hudl video is fun to watch.
-
The Big Sky continues with its forward looking approach in getting games to the fans. Press Release.

Also turns out it was just a partial...

We will always play second fiddle to NDSU in the Fargo market. UND shouldn't spend the resources to "outmaneuver" them in Fargo because it is a pointless endeavor. And you're having a complete overreaction on the rest. Is NDSU popular right now? Without a doubt. Winning 3 championships in a row will do that for a team. Don't disagree that they need to work on the marketing of some of their programs and I think they have taken some steps in the direction in the last year or two. All UND conference games for football, men's basketball, women's basektball and volleyball are available for FREE to anyone with an internet connection. NDSU can't even come close in comparison to that outside of football.

Agree on that. The guy has the look of a bowling ball and like he could make it through the first level of defenders that our smaller backs got tripped up on constantly. With the OL issues, seems like the bigger backs should have got a few more carries and Shaugs seemed to be the only bruiser that did.

Didn't get to watch all of the game, but sure seems like Traylor is really coming into his own and providing productive and quality minutes the last couple weeks. Haven't been able to tell, but is he still wearing a shoulder harness/brace or is that gone and maybe part of the reason he was struggling earlier in the year?

Depending on how they set it up, I think it could work very well and thought it was a pretty good suggestion. I think people would like chipping in a few bucks or so to cover something specific like that. Not sure how the reward system part would work, having to be careful with tax deduction issues and such, but is a legitimate idea to pass on.

Thanks for the clarification, I know that they had interest but don't know exactly where they were at. Assumed it would have been a PWO at best.

If they ever wanted/needed to increase seating, the easiest/cheapest thing they could do would be to put up a little counter rail and sell the spots in the end zone as standing room, similar to how the standing room club seats at the REA are. Wouldn't add a ton of seating, but a quick and temporary fix. Might upset those people that stand up there now but not a real big concern until attendance starts growing again. Would be interesting to see if the capability to do what you say is still possible if necessary someday. As for the second part, there are a handful of plans and uses for that land floating around but all very far off and have quite a bit of range in what they are. Your general premise is dead on though. If they didn't buy, someone else was going to and if that happened, they are landlocked.

He was receiving interest from NDSU, though I'm not sure if he was getting any money. NDSU's recruiting guru was speculating on him before he found out he had committed to UND. Not sure what UND offered him either, if anything at all.
-
Makes sense. I thought in the past they did the renewals around the same time as tickets so that sounds about right.
-
Curious how they can be sold out for next year when I don't think they have done renewals yet? Or are they assuming they will be due to the waiting list?
-
Heard it from someone but guessing that is where they got it. Kind of what I was implying with my not waiting comment. Seems weird you all of the sudden wouldn't wait to see what a kid who was committed at one point is going to do.

Seeing that NDSU has "moved on" from Ezra. Whether than means Ezra has told him he is going a different direction or they don't want to wait on his decision, not sure. Either way, not a bad thing for UND.
