Not sure what's so hard to understand about UND"s scheduling philosophy under Faison. 1 time money games with FBS schools that pay a significant amount and home/home series with FCS schools unless they're willing to take a modest one-time payday for a road game. Why doesn't GT sign a home/home contract to get the series restarted and see what happens? Faison is the one dealing with someone who makes a proposal and then wouldn't sign a contract after its agreed to.

Not a fan. Understand the issue with what can be tough travel arrangements but like that it makes the regular season worth something and that a regular season championship is a definite advantage. Gives a leg up to the the team that proved they were the best over a whole season rather than a 3-5 day period. UND's women would not have won going away if the tournament was in Vegas instead of Grand Forks Will be awaiting an official announcement to verify...

They can say whatever they want, doesn't mean anything. If it was about "the game", it would be an equal contract. Business relationships already exist, the teams play in all other sports. Why would Faison change how he operates to appease someone who won't honor an offer that they make. As for cancelling the rivalry, are you saying that without a doubt, the two teams would still be playing yearly had UND filled an OOC with NDSU over a decade ago? Faison has been consistent in how he schedules. He has not scheduled any road "money" games unless they are FBS and have all paid well more than what GT is offering. The only road FCS games that have been scheduled have been either the front or back end of a home/home contract. UND has had no problem keeping their schedule full with this strategy, even though they have had games bought out by opponents. No one has yet to provide an example of this. Continuing to repeat it over and over does not make it true. Please show an instance where this was done.

Fact - GT offered a home and home. Fact - Faison accepted the deal. Fact - GT wouldn't sign the contract. What part of GT's ego prevented that contract from being signed? Why should Faison negotiate and accept unfavorable terms with someone who won't accept a deal that they propose and then continues to move the goal posts?

UND broke even in 2012-2013. I'm not sure why you keep trying to hang your hat on college athletic accounting, with all the moving parts and different sources of revenue, it means very little.

Leave things like actual facts out of this argument! It doesn't sound as good when you actual explain something as unscientific as college athletics accounting.

So give Taylor everything he wants and then maybe he'll be gracious enough to give up something that he has already proposed. I'm sure Faison is jumping at the opportunity to trust GT when he's already moved the goalposts on him once changed terms on something that was agreed to. So what you're saying is that Taylor was never negotiating in good faith. Big shocker there. Can you point out all these instances where Faison complained in the media? I mean other than on BV where apparently if you keep repeating something, then it must be true.

Faison didn't negotiate the below market deals with Idaho, Bunning did. The only away, non-return games Faison has signed for UND have been with FBS schools and they have paid well over $190K.

If GT really wanted to play the game, he would have signed the contract with the terms that he proposed, not changed them after a contract was already sitting on his desk.

Considering he's in his 70's, he only has a few years remaining regardless.

Glad to see the spin machine is running full force today on reasons for GT backing out of a contract with the terms that he came up with. Apparently something that may or may not have happened over a decade ago involving other people no longer at the table is the clubhouse leader. Doesn't actually explain GT's actions, but why let something let that get in the way of a good excuse.

I assume that anyone related to UND that in any way threatened those that wore the shirts with physical violence or death threats will be held to the same standards. Seems that would be a violation of the Code of Student Life as well.

While I agree, dropping the nickname apparently wasn't enough and I don't think picking a new one will be either. There will always be a very small but very vocal group who will continue to use their imagination to bring UND into everything that they are "offended" by.

Really? I didn't see Faison agree to terms and then decide that he wasn't going to honor his original commitment. You've been reading the revisionist history of events on the FU message board a little too much. And regardless of past events, who is GT punishing? The coaches and the administration that have long left UND? He's really showing those guys a lesson by holding a grudge a decade later. Apparently his position is with merit in all sports but one, which kind of invalidates your reasoning.

So Taylor proposed dates and Faison agreed to it and sent Taylor multiple e-mails and a draft contact which Taylor just ignored. While no contract was officially signed, seems pretty obvious they had a deal lined up and Taylor backed out on it. But I guess a home and home with Weber helps them meet that revenue number Taylor says they need to generate. Glad that UND is sticking to guarantee games that bring in significant revenue (FBS) and away games that come with a return game attached. No reason to take a below market guarantee from someone who negotiates in bad faith.

They should probably suspend all the non-UND students from attending non-UND sponsored events. Seems like that would have solved the majority of this problem.

Wonder what percentage of 7th round draft picks historically make 53 man rosters and/or practice squads? I think a lot of teams were hesitant to draft him not from the media reaction and spectacle we are seeing with the Rams right now, but what will happen if he isn't able to make the team and has to be cut. I know Fisher said that he they won't hesitate to cut him but guessing the general population isn't aware that late round picks routinely don't make rosters.

Knew I shouldn't have put so much trust in the Herald to get things right: From what has been told here, that does not appear to be the case. Pictures definitely weren't taken at the park and the people in question claim the shirts weren't worn to the park And no mention that UND has no control of or relation to the event, therefore no standing to do anything about it. Not excusing the kids for a monumental lack in judgment, but if you are going to sit and criticize the situation, have your facts straight.

I can't see anywhere that it shows it was banned. The Principle of Community at Dartmouth is described as "a statement of aspirations and values and not a promulgation of rules, it cannot be the basis of a disciplinary hearing." It relates to students only and violating it, in itself, carries no weight. While I don't doubt your firsthand knowledge, there is a ton of Dartmouth Indian gear for sale online, someone must be buying it and wearing it somewhere. And I can't see anything that shows it is actually banned from being worn on the campus. It may be frowned upon by some if you do, but there is nothing they would be able to do about it.

I have a hard time buying the idea that UND would ever ban someone from wearing Fighting Sioux logo. It is even harder to fathom considering that they continue to own the trademarks and in order to keep those in good standing, must occasionally release apparel or other items with those logos on them in order to keep control of the trademark, which they do under the Dacotah Legacy Collection line.

Not really what I was alluding, just curious if they were from the area, but I see where you thought I was going. I do agree with your second statement. That's fine to be outraged and express your opinion but basing your arguments on factually incorrect statements discredits and overshadows your message. Then again, counting on the media to fact-check things like UND's actual involvement might be a pipe dream so why not spin it in a way that makes it more sensational to the media.

Kelley already issued a statement and I think that his response is accurate. UND has no standing to act on this and could end opening themselves up to their own set of issue if they did.

Weird that you didn't bring it up like you do for all other teams though. Only responded because it was brought up by someone else.
