  1. The only problem with Dayton winning is it may give the Pioneer League some credibility. The league consistently has 9-10 win teams that don't make it in to the playoffs because of their schedules. That being said, I hope that they beat WIU and then get absolutely waxed by Illinois State. Other than that, need to cheer on the Big Sky to rack up a couple W's.
  2. I know it was an excuse that was used but it most definitely doesn't explain how New Hampshire got in when both their SRS and SOS were below UND's. SRS - 36 vs. 40 SOS - 38 vs. 65

    2016 Season

That was Miller's comment in the GF Herald chat today. I had heard he was getting looks but that was the first I had heard at fullback. He is a bowling ball and has the speed and strength to play a few different spots, so not unrealistic. Depending on how accurate the UND roster is, he is the same height as Humber and Mays out of NDSU, both who got shots at linebacker in the NFL. At worst, I think he'd be a dynamite special teams player with his speed, positioning and tackling. Oddly enough, he played special teams through his senior season so it isn't foreign to him.
  4. New working theory: With it being known how many FCS teams are struggling monetarily, the committee has know thrown them a life raft by removing the unofficial "rule of 7" and then openly stating that they will look at quality losses, giving those financially struggling teams the OK to schedule two FBS money games to help balance their budget and still have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Having to go 6-3 in your remaining 9 games gives more wiggle room and those financially struggling teams won't be as hesitant to do it knowing they are likely to get a pass on the FBS losses. Here is the committee, a handful of teams to have known budget issues are represented: Along with Tennessee Tech AD Mike Wilson (the committee chair), the selection committee consists of athletic directors Chuck Burch (Gardner-Webb), Troy Dannen (Northern Iowa), Brian Hutchinson (Morehead State), Richard Johnson (Wofford), Nathan Pine (Holy Cross), Marty Scarano (New Hampshire), Paul Schlickmann (Central Connecticut State), Dr. Brad Teague (Central Arkansas) and Jeff Tingey (Idaho State). http://www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=20151119161831381552404&ref=hea&tm=&src=FCS
  5. I guess I assumed they stayed overnight at least one night but I guess it would make sense that they would bus up in the morning and then leave after the game. I see where you're coming from now.
  6. I agree on the first point on revenue stabilization but wouldn't it increase expenses by having to make two one-night trips instead of one two-night trip? Though admittedly its two bus rides vs. one and I'm probably missing something, just not sure what it is.
  7. But 5 is fine. No one is saying UND is entitled to anything, they are saying that the comparables show that UND has a very legitimate case for why they should have been selected. You have yet to provide any actual analysis that shows why UND shouldn't have been in, you just keep parroting a bunch of nonsensical blather that has no substance.
  8. Should have known what?? The reality is that there has never been a team that had 7 D-1 wins with one of them being over an FBS team that didn't make the playoff field.
  9. All-Conference First Team Sean Meehan (Sr) - OG John Santiago (Fr) - RB - One of only 3 consensus first team players Will Ratelle (Sr) - LB All-Conference SecondTeam Brandon Anderson (Sr) - OG Colton Boas (Sr) - C Zach Adler (Sr) - FB Brian Labat (Jr) - OLB Cole Reyes (So) - S Mitch Meindel (So) - P All-Conference ThirdTeam Brandon Dranka (So) - DE All-Conference Honorable Mention Noan Johnson (Jr) - DE Co-Freshman of the Year - John Santiago
  10. Must be why pretty much every single projection had them in the playoffs and they were listed as the first team out. But other than that, pretty unlikely.
  11. Doesn't work what way? That there doesn't have to be any justification? Seems to me I laid out the resumes and the "tools" used (like it was assumed the committee did) and then pointed out the mind-bending logic where they use one "tool" to justify a comparison and then completely ignore that "tool" for the next comparison, while using one that contradicts the previous selection. Seems like it should be fair game when the committee chair can't answer one question without completely contradicting a previous answer he has given.
  12. Here are the teams that UND arguably has legitimate reasons to question on how they got in before them. Not saying UND absolutely deserved to get in before all of them, but these are the last few in where the questions should be fair game when compared to UND. I put them in the order that I thought represented most to least questionable: UNH For - 7 D-1 wins, win against #7 Richmond at home, "good loss" (W&M) Against - No FBS win, losses to .500 teams or worse (Delaware, Stony Brook), lowest SRS, Massey and Sagarin ranking of the "at large's" (all behind UND), 2nd weakest SOS behind SHSU (#65 per Massey) EIU For - 7 D-1 wins, "good losses" (WIU, Northwestern, ISU, JSU) Against - Zero wins against playoff teams or FBS WIU For - SOS, SRS, wins over 3 playoff teams (SDSU, EIU, UNI), "good losses" (Illinois, CCU, ISU, YSU, NDSU) Against - 6 D-1 wins SHSU For - 7 D-1 wins, "good losses" (McNeese, Texas Tech) Against - Weakest SOS of "at large's" (#68 per Massey), zero wins against playoff or FBS teams, loss to .500 teams or worse (Lamar), UND For - 7 D-1 wins, FBS win (Wyoming), win against #6 Portland State on the road, "good losses" (NDSU, Montana) Against - Loss to .500 team or worse (Idaho State)
  13. 7 wins each, UND>UNH in the SRS, no head-to-head, no common opponents. Meh, let's go with UNH instead.
  14. UND had a better SRS ranking than New Hampshire so it is a little strange to see that used as a justification.
  15. If a kid wasn't on the staff's radar already, then not sure a coaching change elsewhere should be the main thing to put them on there. However, if it was a player that staff already had interest in and a relationship with, don't see what the issue would be. Lot's of kids continue to get contacted after they verbally commit.
  16. No, that's why they got rid of them.
  17. Isn't the point of the Alumni Association to gather money for the betterment of the University and its students? Seems like they are reminding people about that and reinforcing their mission to those who seem to have forgotten what it is.
  18. It would be a lot tougher and more inaccurate not only due to the larger amount of teams in FCS but also because of fewer number of games overall and between teams/conferences and teams playing games out of their division (both up and down). The "comparisons" used in Pairwise would be a couple steps away instead of usually just one in hockey.
  19. If Vince says it, book it. If gfhockey says it, go look for the tweet or article that was posted 10 minutes beforehand to confirm.
  20. That's not what you said. You claimed that Faison lets coaches coach out their contract, which isn't the case, especially in the instance you specifically pointed out. I have no issue with being critical, but if you're going to throw stones, do it accurately.
  21. Wait, I thought Bubba was the coach. When did Kalen DeBoer take over? That's who he claimed multiple times was the new head coach. What took you soon long to get the money then? That's the reason he wasn't let go a season sooner than he was. Oil prices were good then, shouldn't have been an issue.
  22. It is? I seem to remember Mussman getting bought out of the final year of his contract. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Accuracy optional, the siouxsports way.
  23. They got Dayton because it is a bus trip. Regionalized like everything else.
  24. UND has 14 turnovers and YSU shooting .610 from the floor. UND is outrebounding YSU 26-20 including 10-3 on the offensive glass so I guess that's a positive.
  25. Oh you noticed he missed that one too? Not to mention it is a pretty big stretch to claim a 47-40 win at MSU last year as a "curb stomping".
