I'm pretty sure those numbers are from the same font that SME designed for the wordmarks. I can't find the guidelines that showed the numbers but the 9's have the same little cut-in that the letters have. Maybe they look a little off to some because of being on the rounded helmet? Once the new jerseys are ordered, the fonts will match.

Their new court is the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.

Sticking with your guns and going down with a sinking ship that has already been abandoned. Interesting strategy but I don't think it is going to pay off. It really doesn't matter what I believe when Bresciani openly admitted it was a bad policy as he rescinded it and Larsen apologized for it. To me, that says everything that needs to be said about it. Care to share what you got from your update? Very curious on how that this was a "great deal for NDSU".

-But the brand? How will it be protected??? -Big PR win for DB at a time when he needed it. Though still hard to believe something like this would have been signed off without his knowledge. About those FOIA requests... -Apparently it was a much bigger deal than JJ and the FargoU faithful claimed, because why walk back a policy that is common in almost everywhere? -Hey @bison73, any update from your sources? I think they may have been feeding you a little bit of BS when they said how good this was for NDSU. -Kind of looking like the restrictions weren't actually part of the bids and were put in after KVLY and RFM won them. Is it just a coincidence that there is someone who was involved in the media negotiations/contracts that also happens to be on a host for a radio show on a RFM station that the restrictions benefitted? -No seriously, the brand is huuuge. How is it going to be protected now?
-
Jerseys were likely ordered long before any contracts were awarded, let alone SME completing the new font.
-
I can't wait to see this contract once it is released. Why the hold up Forum Comm, FOIA that thing. They should probably also request all e-mails from JJ and ML related to the negotiations, I think it would be pretty insightful to see who demanded what...

Very nice. Video was a good touch as well. Good job to the Athletic Department on this one all the way around.

What are the odds those people "in the know" happen to work for ndsu? Because every reaction and interpretation I've seen from people who read what ndsu put out and are knowledgeable about media restrictions across the country say that as written, the are more by far more restrictive than other schools. Limiting access the way ndsu has is not common, despite what JJ might keep trying to tell himself and others. It is also not beneficial for fans, particularly those ones that aren't in Fargo. If you're saying that ndsu printed, sent out and posted on their own website media rules that read different than what they meant, I'm calling BS and saying they are already walking back on them because of the blowback and bad press, which is possible since the contract was supposedly not signed as of a few days ago. Or their media relations is incompetent because that is the last office a mistake like that should come from. You also could explain what was told to you on how it's being interpreted wrong or ndsu could release the contracts to help clear it up.
-
For a few different reasons, I'm not sure it does but I'll admit that it's more of an educated guess than anything and I could be incorrect. I guess the only way to know one way or another is if/when the contract comes out and since Forum Comm has already requested it once, it will eventually makes its way out. It could probably go either way since the wording in the story was so vague but again, I think a lot of it comes down to financial viability. If they are giving away 30% of their revenue from 11-1 and 4-6 on top of everything from games and pre/post shows, I don't see how they are going to be able to make it. Then again, 1660 previously had brutal ratings and I can't imagine was exactly making any money, though that without having to stick any money into it, which they won't be doing now.
-
I keep seeing the number of 30% of gross advertising revenues being tossed around like it is 30% of everything the radio station brings in which comes across as pretty misleading (and not accusing you of doing it intentionally either). My assumption is that "bison-related content" excludes all of the daytime talk radio and will be things like game replays. Good deal for NDSU on getting all the advertising dollars from the games and the pre and post shows included as well but I'm still curious how financially viable this is for Radio Fargo Moorhead when they aren't getting a cut of what should be the biggest money maker out of the whole deal (live games). We'd probably know more if they would release the contract but I guess as of Friday, they still didn't have it signed. Lot of unknown details that could change who and how it financially benefits.

Sometimes you just have to judge how much trust to put in comments by previous posting history. There are a handful of posters that I don't need to hear where they got the info from because I know that they wouldn't put it out there if they didn't feel confident in it.
-
Not quite. They are only generating revenue (either all or part) when it is NDSU related programming. Very curious on what the projections for the actual radio station looked like because there isn't exactly a ton of profit in radio to begin with and to compound that, they aren't taking any cuts on the advertising during the programming that will bring in the largest amount of listeners.
-
Not a chance since I'm guessing you tailgate in the Fargodome parking lots. How exactly does inviting him get around this? Radio stations without current broadcast rights agreements shall not originate programming from NDSU facilities or grounds, including the Fargodome and its parking lots, on the day of an NDSU football or basketball game. This includes all pregame and postgame coverage.

Brad does a live blog during the game and can interview the head coach during the season. Kolpack can do neither.
-
Besides the obvious shots at Kolpack and Izzo, which was nothing short of rules written to prevent coverage they have been presenting for multiple years now, this (along with Jorgenson saying no exceptions) goes beyond anything that I've been able to find: So that means zero interviews for the Forum with Klieman, Richman and I guess Walseth since Jorgenson has already said they will deny other non-rights holder's requests. Outside of press conferences, the only one talking to Klieman is KVLY and RFM and the only one talking to Richman and Walseth is Midco and RFM. Unless given special access, that means ESPN won't be able to interview Klieman for the College Football Kickoff. Now I'm sure they will walk back on that real quick with ESPN, but what a great way to "protect your brand" by giving out an exception just a few weeks after saying that you will likely deny any requests of that nature. I've yet to see any other media relation guidelines that are this restrictive by another university. I'm not sure whose advice they were listening to when they drew this up, but they took what isn't a real big deal and extended their reach just a little too far. Great timing for the athletic department to upset the Forum too, not like DB isn't having issues of his own.
-
KVLY/RFM couldn't compete on quality of actual output so they opened up the checkbook and got the rules change. I don't agree, but can see where they may want to limit radio and TV competition, however they went overboard. And due to the makeup of the Fargo media, their attempt to limit radio and TV competition is going to have a big effect on newspaper coverage and that can't be a good thing for NDSU. I don't think anyone would argue that Forum Communications has benefited from NDSU doing well but NDSU was also a huge beneficiary of that coverage, getting what probably amounts to unprecedented coverage for being an FCS school and helping build the brand that they are supposedly now trying to protect, whatever that means. The new policies they came out with might as well have included Izzo and Kolpack's names in them, because they were worded to specifically limit the extra things they did and were very well viewed/consumed by fans and helped build the expanded fan base and get information to the new "bandwagon" fans that aren't as plugged in. Wonder if this ends the kid gloves treatment they had previously been getting from Forum Communications?

You know it's bad when even McFeely has traded in his newly acquired knee pads for a pitchfork...

Summer workouts wrapping up and fall camp starting soon. The focus is on those who want to be part of something special. #LeaveNoDoubt

Also hearing that might not be the only matchup against NDSU this season.

Drake is the 6th home game for 2019 (12 game year) with SHSU also scheduled to play in Grand Forks. UND does still have 1 more spot, guessing they will either take a money FBS game or play the away portion of another home and home.
-
In the "Be Careful What You Wish For" Category: Apparently those "big" contracts NDSU signed with RFM and KVLY are going to come with stipulations that will cost them coverage from WDAY/Forum Communications, limiting some things had previously been done. Some of it is open to interpretation and maybe they will make some allowances but here's a couple interesting parts of it. The last two would effectively kill Kolpack and Izzo's radio show and live blog of the games on the Bison Media Blog.

North Dakota vs. Minnesota in Las Vegas - October 2018
jdub27 replied to fargosioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Correct. UND is the host school and will have a much larger allotment than UM will have. The Strib, in its infinite wisdom, cut the quote short. The wording in UM's release states: "The University of Minnesota will be provided with a limited number of tickets for the 2018 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game to sell exclusively to Gopher fans." which is has quite a bit different meaning than what they put in their article: "The university announcement said tickets will be available "exclusively to Gopher fans."" -
