Wait, wasn't Berry getting criticized because he doesn't make in game adjustments? I have a hard time keeping up with what the current narrative is...
-
An AD would sure put themselves in a pretty tight spot dictating who a HC can hire for an AC. If it doesn't work out, makes it pretty easy for the HC to point fingers and say "this was your idea." That doesn't preclude an AD from having input but fully directing a hire seems like a stretch.

You don't have to be on the honor roll to be eligible. Most schools have it set up so that if you've been awarded an Alston award, do the bare minimum (i.e.: stay eligible and don't get in trouble) and are still in school when the cutoff date is, you'll receive it.
-
Wonder if it will be enough to surpass Alston and FCOA that he was getting here?
-
But the university still gets credit in the state funding formula as there is no differentiator in regards to enrollment count in said formula?
-
Armacost has been an absolute shot in the arm for the athletic department with the momentum on all the capital projects and Alston payments among other things. Given all the support he has given the athletic department and of course the AD reports to him, do you actually think Chaves didn't discuss this with Armacost prior to it being done?
-
No, talking to people who were actually involved in the meetings. Notice I didn't say I anywhere that I did or didn't agreed with any of it? There's enough to criticize without making things up.

He's paid the second lowest salary in the conference and the assistant pool is middle of the pack. By the end of his latest extension he'll still be below the median. I don't think that complaining he's overpaid compared to where they've finished in the conference is the argument that I think you think it is. This is not saying he should be paid more or should have gotten an extension, it is a fact based comment on conference salaries.

Regardless of opinions, continuing to repeat this strange take, in whatever context it actually is supposed to mean, doesn't make it true.
-
I mean if it was a true conspiracy theory and they were actually trying to "hide" it, they would have released it tomorrow before the hockey game when the standard UND fan would be locked in to that. Or they could have went full blown tinfoil hat, taken the NDSU route and just not announce it like they've done twice now with their MBB coach.
-
I agree with you except for the net neutral part. I would feel comfortable saying he is supportive of anything that can retain the top performers at UND. But I can go back and find plenty of comments that are contrary to that opinion.

Damn him for growing the sport of college hockey!!
-
Announced it on senior night. Don't blame him after getting unofficially suspended.

Fun story, not true though.... https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news/nfl-draft-true-story-jerry-jones-dallas-cowboys-and-almost-johnny-manziel Yes, Jefferson would be worth a decent haul. But no one has even remotely suggested letting him walk for nothing. Which is why they are working on extending him.
-
Again, when was the last time they splurged in free agency or gave away a giant haul in a trade? Maybe TO almost 20 years ago now? Jones has significantly changed his approach for at least the last decade. Not to say he wouldn't make a blockbuster deal but that perception hasn't been reality for a long time.

The books are set up very nice for 2025. If they can land a solid QB this year, they will be in good shape. If not, they are likely hoping to do it in 2025 if the season doesn't go well. Guessing they sign Jefferson to a monster extension (that he's earned) to keep around some solid pieces heading into the next few years. What's the last big name free agent the Cowboys signed or traded a giant haul away for? They are saving their money to keep their homegrown talent their, they aren't going to be your huckleberry.
-
And that excludes his $2MM salary this season. Approaching $10 million in career earnings by the time you're 27 isn't too bad.
-
You can look back on meeting board minutes from well into last year. The position was being looked into well before any alleged lawsuit had come up.
-
Fair to clarify that the players (at least that were mentioned) who stated that, didn't leave on the greatest terms with the coach and left to find playing time elsewhere.
-
Clearly they aren't looking at anything long-term with Darnold. They signed him to a very fair one-year deal based on what QB's of similar regard are getting in the market (with more than a few signing 2 year deals). The 49ers were comfortable with him (at a lower price) to be a safety net/backup for Purdy this past season. He fits well into what KOC's offense is as well. And if he bombs, then you're right, good shot at a QB next year without mortgaging the future. This I agree with. Sounds like the cost has went from a 2nd or 3rd round pick to a 3rd day pick to acquire him, which is crazy. And for that price, a team wouldn't even feel obligated to pick up his 5th year option at $25+ million. Guessing the Bears have zero desire to trade him within the division, at least yet. He could still be an option because I doubt they want him hanging a shadow over (likely) Caleb Williams.
-
You can't be serious. The hit rate of first round picks, let along QB's, is something like 30-40%. Mortgaging multiple years worth of 1st and 2nd round picks, which is exactly what the team needs to get through some salary cap issues, would be an absolute abomination of an idea.

When UND didn't have one (or at least while it was being worked on behind the scenes but nothing had been made public), he seemed to be the one that most people were putting the blame on, which appears to have continued into this thread. The positive is that everyone that was clamoring for it will have a chance to put their money where their mouth is.

Do you think those restaurants are closing because they made too much money? And the ones you complain about are opening new locations because their current ones are unprofitable so they are going to throw some more money out there and see what happens? Blame the community for not supporting more local options.

There are 3 MN players and one WI player on the team, so it isn't like they aren't recruiting those areas. Also, the staff didn't have much for connections in those areas which is fairly important. However with Bledsoe being added, I would expect to see that start to changing even a bit more.
