    FBS games

After Patti publicly dressed down Larsen more than once? Our SOS, best win and head to head would definitely point to UND. I'd like our chances but have to control what we can control. Starts Saturday.
  2. Herder doesn't have Illinois State in his Top 25. They are currently 5-4.
  3. Yes it does. It's an algorithm, calculates data points to comes up with a range of outcomes and then shows the most likely scenarios. It doesn't predict the future and tell you which data point within the set is going to hit every game. I'm sure I don't need to explain how statistics and probabilities work to a smart guy like you though. Going into the week, it predicted that NDSU was going to lose to SDSU by around 11 points. Wasn't too far off. And as much as I hate to admit it, with the current data points, I think NDSU is closer to #4 in the nation than they are #12 or #15 or wherever they are. There's two weeks left that could definitely change as more data points are calculated into the equation. Regardless, I hope they miss the playoffs because the selection committee leaves them out at 7-4. However them going 6-5 and plummeting in every poll, human and computer, would be acceptable as well. Massey also says that the top 9 teams are in the Big Sky or MVFC and Furman is #11 and not #2. I have a hard time disagreeing with that and if we play Thanksgiving weekend, would love to be fed in Furman instead of a seed from the Big Sky or MVFC.
  4. The discussion was program progression. Overall, the program is in a better spot and has continued to trend in the correct direction. There are different levels of success. No one has said we're at a spot where anyone is completely happy, 100% satisfied or thinks there isn't more work to do or we've constantly been at a level of success where we would all like to see. But it wouldn't be the same beating of the dead horse if someone didn't pretend that was the case.
  5. You said they haven't made substantial progress. I presented evidence that shows the contrary. The program has and continues to progress in the right direction. Moving into the top 10/5 and into the quarters/semis/finals is the next step. I know its just a dumb computer algorithm and not an expert football mind, so dismiss it however you want. But just wanted to present some actual unbiased data to the conversation.
  6. Here are some unbiased rankings (Massey) to show how things have progressed the last 15 years: 2008 28 2009 40 2010 48 2011 36 2012 35 2013 68 2014 64 2015 32 2016 21 2017 43 2018 27 2019 21 2020 6* 2021 14 2022 14 2023 12
  7. Win and things are looking good with breathing room. Lose and last game of the season is a playoff game. Need to win it to keep playing. Seems pretty straight forward but I see the dead horse cringing about his upcoming beating already.
  8. They all also had career completion percentages between 61-65% and not 56% like Murray's QB. Stick and Lance were freak athletes for Qb's as well. Not arguing a stretching the field down the seams or running more tempo seems like it would help but Tommy having a 67% career completion rate and his decision making is what makes the offense work. Get off schedule and it we have a lot more games that look like UNI.
  9. That makes a lot more sense. Given some of the other nonsense, it's tough to not what half the posts mean anymore.
  10. Lol. Thinking Tommy and the offense was the problem at all today. They punted once. 18-23 for 279 and 5 TD's against a poor defense vs. 19-36 and 3 TD's against a defense that was allergic to covering, getting pressure and tackling today You underestimated what was going to happen that last drive but just a little bit. What does this even mean? Interview new coaches every off season? Who in the world would sign up for that, coaches or players. But for real, defensive effort is very concerning the last 6 quarters. Pressure can't get home, tackling not there and questionable coverage and committing of penalties (though a few at the end were brutal). McNaboe missing doesn't help. Need to clean that up fast. At least the offense looked good today. I'd bet the over next week.
  11. Think this is accurate. Seidl can play the season out. Tai might have to sit one to keep his redshirt.
  12. The timeout was fine, it was the refs adding 4 or 5 seconds back to the clock that was the issue. Not sure how that happens.
  13. Heard they took a trip on the bourbon trail.
  14. One can only hope the line stays there until it comes out....
  15. Anyone taking his posts seriously says more about them than it does the basketball program.
  16. Not arguing those points because they are all 100% valid. Subscriptions cost more than cable these days to watch what you want. Stuff like the Iowa game is the same regardless of what the Summit is doing. They did it because Midco is actually paying them, requiring minimum broadcasts and now all Summit games will be televised (instead of being on whichever platform the home team had, if they even had one). Fenton set up a very successful model that was the same thing with the NCHC and the schools with larger fan bases actually see some return on it. Also, getting away from ESPN allowed them to move the championship, so no more Tuesday night championship game on ESPNU, instead they will have some flexibility on when that can be played. I know one of the big complaints is the Monday/Tuesday finish for semis/finals. If it flops or they get enough negative feedback, ESPN will take them back for the exact same deal they were getting.
  17. USD beat ISU 17-3 (tied 3-3 at halftime). And UNI was down 17-14 to ISU in the 3rd quarter before winning 27-20. We'll see what happens when Illinois St plays Murray next weekend to complete the other half of the equation you skipped over. Who know what is going to happen, it is almost like that's why they play the games.
  18. Dabo Swinney had some pretty interesting comments the other day as he compared expectations and appreciation. Now UND is not Clemson by any stretch of the imagination, but his basic point is that some people are able to balance both having expectations while still having appreciation for successes when they do happen (obviously there are multiple levels of those successes). Others are so focused on their own internal expectations (over something they have no control over) that they don't bother to have appreciation for any sort of success or minimize it because it "isn't enough". It wasn't a deflection either, as Dabo also took full responsibility for Clemson having a down year, at a place that has basically unlimited resources. "Listen, man, you can have your opinion all you want, and you can apply for the job. And good luck to you." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38783508/clemson-dabo-swinney-rips-caller-appreciation In the end, we all want the same success for the program. Everyone just has their own outlook on what that looks like and what's worth celebrating.
  19. Hey man, once you win a few Natties on NCAA 2014, get promoted to Madden head coach and win a few Super Bowls there, then you can give your expert opinion.
  20. Massey predicts 37-17. Sagarin has UND as a 17 point road favorite. A 50-0 game would be well outside any of the computer models.
  21. Exactly. On the road against a team no one knows anything about other than NDSU voted against them joining the MVFC, they have a solid basketball program and UND should win.
  22. Nice deflection, you were asked to follow up on what you said and everyone watched you trip over yourself hiding from it. Going to be a nice morning for tailgating and a good day to get back on track. Not expecting a WIU type score, ISU can sustain some drives. Need to get up on them early and not give them any hope. Hoping for a 3-4 score game before the starters are out.
  23. Part of it depends on how the USD/SDSU game goes this Saturday but running the table definitely puts UND back in the conversation for a seed. Sagarin and Massey continue to rate UND favorably and it sounds like some of the non-biased polls are going to carry a little more weight this year.
  24. Quit making lame excuses, blaming other people and just admit you were never actually going to followup with your "threat" to show off your CV/resume and move on. No one actually believed that you would follow through on something and now you're just looking worse by refusing to own up to it.
  25. Hopefully you know someone at Altru, you might have gotten hurt back pedaling that fast. Pretty impressive tail turn quickly shifted into blaming others.
