  2. Great recaps. One thing I will remember about Columbus is that everywhere we went during the 3 days we ran into Sioux fans. Seeing our logo and then yelling "GO SIOUX". Also, we met some great guys from Maine at The Varsity who were cheering for the Sioux. They stated that what North Dakota did for Shawn Walsh was awesome and "that is something that people from Maine will never forget". I was impressed at all the fans from different teams that were there to watch some great college hockey. Can't wait for next season.
  3. Federov, No manner how many degrees you get, you'll always be true Sioux green through and through. Here's hoping you end up somewhere and doing something where you can continue to check in, offer your thoughts and insight and support the Sioux. Make your reservations now. West Regional in GF. Frozen Four in Milwaukee. Next year is the year the final destination is reached. I know you'll be there with bells on.

That is exactly what I was thinking. If the NHL doesn't change the rules so more players like Jeff Panzer, Marty Sertich, and Colin Murphy can excel at the pro game, the more I will continue to give a rats ass about what happens in the NHL. It is far better for a player to develop into the absolute physical presence that Smaby is without having to hold and obstruct. When the NHL brain trust comes to this realization, guys who can play like Smaby are going to be priceless. I sure hope to see Matt in Sioux green next year. We had a great time watching him this year. Also, anybody who says that Smaby will be remembered for "scoring" two goals against his team is an idiot. Smaby and all the Sioux D-men were like men against boys the whole weekend. That quote alone is why I never look to INCH for any hockey news. I use PCM as my sole source.
  5. Ditto, ditto, ditto. Great post. Just got back from Columbus and was so impressed as to how all the Sioux players handled themselves throughout the tournament. Such a classy bunch of young men. Hats off to the coaches and players on a great season. As for Matt, Andy, Nick, Quinn, Rory, James, Brian, Colby, and Jake. Thanks for the memories and best of luck in all you do.
  6. I'll remove the hook and put you back in the water Siouxhockey78. Sadly, Thomas Finch, like his brother Sid, does not exist. April Fools day always reminds me of the classic Sports Illustrated story that came out on 4/1 about Sid Finch, a pitcher with a 168 fastball that was going to pitch for the Mets. Anybody else remember this classic? Fans all over New York and the nation were fooled by the story.
  7. I'd never do that. This kid is the real deal. His brother Sid was a draft choice for the Mets. Sports Illustrated did a cover story on him years back. Ok, everybody come clean. How many Googled "Thomas Finch"?
  8. Anybody heard of this kid Thomas Finch from Sweeden? Had 213 goals and 265 assists during 80 game schedule in top junior league (under 17) in Sweeden. Comes from a very athletic family. Story in Hockey News says he is considering coming to UND in fall of '06 as he wants to get a US education. Narrowed his choices to UND and Cornell. This kid would be a huge pick up for the Sioux.
  9. Personally I think it is bush league to have any signs making fun of Hirsh's situation if he is actually suffering from a mental illness. To me, it is no different if DU fans had signs making fun of Bina's injury. If, on the other hand, his display was due to immaturity and not mental illness, then the sign ideas are great.

There was a great article in the Colorado Springs paper today about Marty Sertich. His mother recently learned she has brain cancer and the doctors have given her a few months to live. Since receiving the diagnosis, Marty's parents have followed CC and watched every game (Marty's brother Mike also plays for the Tigers). Following is a small portion of the article that can be found at www.gazette.com (not sure if you can access without registering): Sertich recently employed his game to tell his mother how much he cherishes her. On March 3, a few days after learning Patty

    That's a relief!

This may have already been answered, but with four WCHA schools in the Frozen Four, what conference will the refs come from?
  12. OK, that makes it better. I guess it's his attorney that's an a-hole. Come on Mafia Man, the guy broke the kids neck and said he didn't mean it. A simple call would put his money where his mouth is.
  13. I don't know if tacky is the right word. I commend Gwozdickhead for at least calling Bina. What would have sent a stronger message to his team, to Bina, and to college hockey in general would have been to suspend Paukovich for more than a game against the 16th seed in the tournament. I believe that Paukovich did not intend to hurt Bina. However, his hit was flagrant and cheap and it did cause serious damage. A stronger response would have sent a much better message, and a more genuine one as well. As for the comment that Paukovich didn't call because how hard it would be, imagine how hard it was for Bina laying in hospital bed, going through major surgury and how hard it is going to be going through recovery. Give me a break. If the kid had any class at all, he would have made contact by now.
  14. There you go again PCM, citing the facts. Damn you pseudo man!!!!!!!!!
  15. I'll take character and heart over experience any day. Measured along those lines, the Sioux have a HUGE advantage.
  16. Gotta love it. Trash talking already. I will give the Gophs some props for winning a couple of close games to advance to the FF. Beating Maine and Cornell in the friendly confines of The John not as impressive as bitch slapping a couple of teams in their own house but what happened this past weekend doesn't matter much now does it. Each team playing in Columbus earned the right to be there. I think it's going to be a great Frozen Four. Obviously, I like the Sioux, as I have all year. They are peaking at the right time and have a group of Seniors on a mission. UM and DU will have the experience, CC and ND will have the hunger. I can't wait. On a side note, I thought I read somewhere that all the Gophers had gotten crew cuts in a show of team unity back during their dry spell. If that's the case, what's with Talleckson? Didn't partake or just a recent client of that Bosley hair restoration clinic that we became so familiar with this weekend? GO SIOUX!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I agree. Article in Colorado paper today says it was Michigan's first loss in Michigan in the NCAA's in the last 10 games. Since 1998, they have only not played in a Michigan region (East Lansing, Ann Arbor, or Grand Rapids) two times. Included in that streak is the '98 game they beat the Sioux 4-3.
  18. WELL. DOES IT COUNT?
  19. Man I LOVE that look on Berenson's face. GO CC.
  20. BLOW THE F'ING WHISTLE. WHAT A BUNCH OF BS.
  21. CC radio is jock1240.com but I don't find any link to listen via the 'Net. Is it just me or does it seem like every year there is a regional played in Michigan that Michigan plays in?? CC is playing like crap in the first but, boy, did they get jobbed on the seeding with DU. LET'S GO TIGERS.
  22. What a piece of crap call. Everytime someone falls down it is NOT a penalty.
  23. Maine has definately outplayed the Gophs in the 2nd. How that guy missed the open net. WOW.
