I am actually curious if they’d ever try Johannes at center. I’m pretty sure I heard it said that he has played center before.

I think we might be talking about different things. I think you’re talking generally about UND’s 4 centers on lines 1-4. I was talking about a potential top power play unit. The options listed were Johannes, Gaber, Perron, and Blake. Who takes the draw on that unit?

Who’s taking the faceoff though? You have no centers.

Minnesota was better on faceoffs all night. McLaughlin won 4 of 13 draws. (Yikes) Schmaltz was 4 for 8. Berg was 10 for 18.

I don’t think it’s even shown signs of life for most of the first 3 games either. Sometimes we aren’t converting but still getting good chances but I’m not even seeing that.

He was our top faceoff guy last year and that was the reason I thought he played top 6 last year. Then they moved him to wing so I see no point to have him there if he’s not taking draws.

Nothing new there though. They always have that kind of schedule. Sometimes it works for them, sometimes it doesn’t.

From what my memory recalls, since we started playing them again after realignment, UND has pretty much always lost the first game of the series at REA.

I feel like they do this east coast trip every year and it always goes badly.

Which for a pass happy team is not good.

Haha so funny. I actually had just transferred to UND during this season. I go home for Christmas and tell my parents UND isn’t very good at hockey this year lol. My parents make their first trip to GF to visit the weekend of this series. We win Friday so on Saturday morning my mom says to me “I thought you said UND wasn’t very good.”

Gotta be upper body. Apparently his arm was in a sling after last Saturday’s game. I also don’t know if he’s been skating. According to the practice report I saw, he didn’t practice on Wednesday. Not sure about yesterday though

I don’t know but I’m guessing Chesley made the trip. He is supposedly a game time decision. Koster was already ruled out so it probably doesn’t matter if he made it or not.

It also has nothing to do with UND. REA has enough material to show that it’d be really lame if they did.

None of their defensemen that are playing this weekend played in the series last time it was at the Ralph. Koster is out and he’s the only one that has. So they are super young and inexperienced back there. Im also interested to see how both team’s forwards match up.

He decommitted over the summer.

We already have 3 defensemen scheduled to come in next year to replace the 3 we have that are out of eligibility. And I don’t think any of them are going to be playing another year of junior. Emery, Strathmann won’t be. Jubenvil ages out. So we’d have to make room for a ninth D unless there’s an unexpected departure. Don’t get me wrong, I like Gruba, and would like him at UND, but just curious how we’d make room.

Did you see this mentioned somewhere? I know there’s a green out but that usually doesn’t have anything to do with what we wear on ice so I’m assuming we will still wear white jerseys.

I think they ranked were #1 at that point that year. UND was probably barely above.500. That series led to an absolute meltdown by Minnesota the rest of the season and they missed the NCAA’s.

I don’t have an in depth analysis on my reasoning why I thought the defense looked significantly better than last year. Because there wasn’t much d-zone play. But just watching them skate the puck out of zone so comfortably without a lot of panic just felt different than last year. Especially with the top 6 D. Last year I thought the weakness on D was that third pairing, no matter who was on it. The fact that we can pair Livanavage and Wiebe with experienced seniors in the top 4 D and then roll out a third pairing of Britt and Zmolek is something I really like.
