  1. Exactly what I'm thinking.
  2. We'll see if he actually ends up there - 4 years is a bit far off. I'm just thinking about a couple kids who committed super early who currently play for UND that were committed to other schools at 14/15. He could very well end up at UMD, but he wouldn't be the first to change his mind. Commitments this early come with an automatic red flag for me. ... I don't even know why I was thinking about this earlier...
  3. Of incoming freshmen, 3 were previously committed to other schools. (Ausmus-DU, Stetcher-UNO, Murphy-Merrimack). Schmaltz was committed to UW at one point as you said. Colten St Clair at one point was committed to Colorado College.
  4. I'd rather they rotated the 6th D than play 7 every game. I remember when Marto/LaPoint were freshmen typically one played Friday and the other Saturday. I thought that worked all right, but maybe that was a unique circumstance. I also get the need for a consistent D core lineup also. This is why the coaches make the big bucks!
  5. If your parents work for the school, don't your kids get free tuition? Some schools have that, I haven't looked into if UND does.
  6. I've heard OSU doesn't want to release him for him to go to a Big 10 OR NCHC school.
  7. I think he knew.
  8. I've seen in some places that some think he may not be the only NTDP departure. But that's just twitter speculation. Still say there's something in the water in Ann Arbor.
  9. I thought he might decommit a couple months ago, but now I'm not as convinced. The USHL Entry draft is Tues for his birth year, and I'm inclined to believe if he's drafted he may end up there instead of the WHL.
  10. While its ideal to call up players when the Wild are in St Paul, it doesn't always work out that way.
  11. They probably will change draft stock, but I think when it gets close to draft, team scouts just go with internal lists anyways. So they'll take what they saw and move them up or down on their own lists.
  12. If I called the cops for minors in a bar in MPLs, the Gophs would have some problems. Like you said, it's easier to get away with these kind of things in places like Minneapolis, Denver, Boston, etc because cops aren't on mainly party patrol every weekend. It's easier to hide.
  13. That's not accurate. Shuffling players was a negative for the move. When you call players up, if the Wild are in, say Vancouver, it'll be difficult to get a player to Van on short notice due to Des Moines not being close to a large airport Hub like Houston.
  14. Just an FYI ... if anyone else is planning on making the trip out to Miami, keep in mind that this particular weekend is Miami's homecoming weekend, and Oxford, Ohio is not a huge metropolis - (pop. approx 25,000). So I'd think about booking hotels now if you're planning to go or you may have to drive in from a nearby town. I only found one hotel with rooms available that weekend. I'll be there. Looking forward to my first trip to Ohio. Maybe this belongs in a road trip thread... oh well.
  15. If you dig hard enough I'm sure you can figure out the answer to your own question. I prefer not to find reasons to discredit a player prior to ever seeing them play.
  16. Reilly played for a team that lost like 2 games for starters. Maybe not 2, but hardly any and I'm not looking it up
  17. Miller played in the OHL after he was drafted. I believe if you're drafted out of the USHL/NTDP you're AHL eligible at 19. I'm thinking you have to turn 19 prior to the start of the season. Not sure. My theory is Matteau will be AHL eligible next season like Miller was this year. 1 year CHL, then onto the AHL.
  18. Just stop. The Gophers defense ranked where it was because they had the puck most of the game. If you always have the puck you're not going to give up a lot. There. I said it.
  19. I don't use that stat to rank defenses personally, at least not solely.
  20. That's Dillon's dad, not Adam Tambellini's.
  21. I don't have the article, but I have a comment on that. With anything in the media, you have to take quotes with a grain of salt because the media can mess with words a lot and misconstrue the meaning of the quote. It's open to interpretation. The quote in question, to me, didn't say Grimaldi only was going to play a year. It was more like it'd be "ideal" to only play a year because that meant he'd be in the NHL after that year. And you know how everyone is looking for the fast path to the pros these days. But it was more him saying it was a year-by-year personal evaluation. Just my take.
  22. Well, if someone bails last minute, we're in good shape! Also, we lose 2 forwards, not one, with next years senior class (Rodwell and Mitch)
  23. It was clarified later that he's a 2014 recruit.
  24. He's a scholarship player. Sorry, but you don't see too many walk ons that play top line minutes in the USHL. Just saying...
