I'm not sure you are understanding my point. UND is in a great conference already, what do they have to gain by joining the B10? The teams suck, B10 is a football and basketball conference(you said it yourself) and you have you accommodate your conference schedule to make it appealing for B10 football/basketball. I'm sorry but if I want to go to a weekend series in early October to see UND vs. Michigan, I better not be waiting around in Ann Arbor in between game days. Also, I dont get excited about playing Ohio State, Penn State or even Michigan State; when we can play the likes of Denver, CC, Duluth, St. Cloud. By joining the B10 we would be the little school without much say in the process (because we all know if you are B10 across the board you carry more weight).

Big Ten schools: December 12 (Thursday)- Michigan vs. Wisconsin 1:30pm October 29th (Thursday)- Penn St vs. St. Lawrance 6pm CDT January 28th (Thursday)- Penn St vs. Michigan 6pm CDT January 17th (Sunday) - Michigan vs. Ohio State 4pm CDT March 6th (Sunday) - Michigan vs. Ohio State 2pm CDT October 22nd (Thursday) Michigan St vs. LSSU 6pm CDT November 22nd (Sunday) Michigan St vs. Michigan Tech 3pm CDT November 29th (Sunday) Michigan St vs. North Dakota 2pm CDT Having it happen 8 times is not rare, having it happen ONCE or Twice is rare... My point being (outside of playing Thursdays and Sundays) is, I don't want hockey to be taking a back seat to other sports and that is what is happening to the B10. I understand that hockey isn't a big revenue sport for the B10 but for us schools that are used to it being the sport on campus, to me it doesn't make sense to make that jump and be shuffled back down into obscurity.

My point isn't about having the crappy B10 improve, my point is that hockey is in a growth mode and the B10 is regulating it to bottom tier status. I couldn't care less if every team in the B10 like playing their games on Thursday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, personally I do not want to see UND's big conference games on a Thursday or Sunday afternoon during that time. Like I said before, college hockey is played on a Friday or Saturday night (until you get to tournaments). If I was any school looking to join a new conference, I would stay away from the B10 and join a conference where all programs want each other to succeed.

And it proves that the best team doesn't always win...

http://www.citypages.com/news/what-happened-to-the-university-of-minnesota-hockey-program-7960026 http://m.startribune.com/big-ten-hockey-is-a-buzzkill-for-fans-in-minnesota/370397541/ After reading the struggles that their fans and the BigTen are going through. I for one would not want UND to join the BigTen. UND and the rest of the NCHC are doing great (outside of holding the tournament at the crappy Target Center). I do not want to watch college hockey on Thursday night are during the day during the week. College hockey is meant to be played on Friday's and Saturday's. To me, playing in the BigTen means you are getting regulated to bottom tier status compared to other sports and college hockey does not need that. So if it were me, I would tell the BigTen to kick rocks and go sleep in the bed you made. Also, Don Lucia needs to be fired. That smug attitude of his is bringing down the Gophers program.

well Cincinnati is East of St. Paul
-
its simple... finish ahead of St. Cloud and be placed in St. Paul, finish below St. Cloud and travel out East.

Sedevie never played at UND, did he? I thought he was committed and then later went to Bemidji State -
I know all of this is hypothetical but you are using examples that do not compare to what you are explaining. Mankato already has a strong foundation in D1 hockey and comparing it to a D1 start-up program that has no real success at the ACHA level (NDSU), just does not make any sense. You would have to compare NDSU to a program that is similar and over the past few years there hasn't been anyone that has been able to compete with the top tier programs. Robert Morris, Alabama Huntsville, UConn, Sacred Heart, Bentley University have been around since the mid to late 90's and have had little to no real success of keeping a year in and year out competitive team on the ice. To sit there and say NDSU would have a competitive program in a "few years" (which you haven't given a serious number) is total blasphemy.
-
it has everything to do with the question. do you just think that a coach and players are going to show up and be competitive? I mean, anyone can put together a hockey team and eventually become competitive but eventually could mean 10 yrs, 20 yrs or hell 50 yrs. Comparing NDSU and D1 hockey is like comparing Mayville State and D1 football and saying "we eventually will be competitive" but at least we are D1 now. if you cant think about the logistics, than you probably don't understand hockey that much.
-
How long though; 5, 10, 15 yrs? Is NDSU prepared financially to put forth that much money towards a "great" coach? How long do you think that coach sticks around? Look at Mankato State when they transitioned from D2 hockey. Troy Jutting wasn't a terrible coach by any means but they didnt become real successful until Hastings took over and even then they are not that great yet. We are all thinking hypothetically here. Reality is, NDSU does not want D1 hockey or they would've done it by now. They know that having D1 hockey as a sport is A.) expensive and B.) they would be fighting an uphill battle for some time before they turn a profit on it. I believe any "extra" money they have will be going into the football program (i.e. developing a bigger stadium).
-
How does Penn St have nothing to offer? Forget the size of the town, they are a Big 10 school, the school itself has a lot more name recognition than NDSU. Who the ^%& cares about ice cream!!!!!!!!!
-
How much money is NDSU willing to pay for a good coach? What great coach would you speak of? Hiring a great coach is going to cost mucho dollars and I doubt NDSU is willing to pay out $400k in coaches salaries to start a hockey team. Also, getting good players does not happen over night, especially when you have 6 really good D1 hockey schools all vying for the same prospect. The reason Arizona State and Penn State are succeeding in their first few years is, they had programs in place already and both places offer a lot more than NDSU.
-
Penn State and AZ state are not just "adding" hockey, they both have had successful Club teams for a long time. The problem with NDSU is what everyone says, there is not enough money to go around at NDSU and they do not see it as a viable income. If they added D1 hockey they would have to add a woman's sport of some sort just to comply with the rules

Waynes only started 1 game this year....
-
You can't take the ONE game as an overall body of work, you have to take their whole season of work. Waynes coverage was average on Sunday and I wouldn't brag up that interception too much as it was tipped and basically handed to him. I am just saying, for a first round talent, he should've done/been more on the field. You are correct though, the defense is young and should be fine for the next few years but the Vikes need to put more help around Teddy than an aging AP and a medicore WR core.
-
I wouldn't go that far. Personality wise, yes he is twice the person Favre is/was. Talent wise, I think I would still take Favre over Rodgers.
-
Trey Waynes is a terrible CB for a 1st rounder and everyone knew it going into the draft. He needs at least 3 years of development before he becomes elite and that isn't what you expect out of a 1st rounder. What happen to Rhodes this year, it seems like he took a step backward in his development?
