how do I have a lot of conditions? I'm just saying from my experience at both arenas. i like the new arena but it's atmosphere cannot compare to the old Ralph. The old Ralph was about hockey and fans. The new Ralph is about social status, glitz and glamour (to majority of the fans). UND is very fortunate to get a new arena that is top notch but something had to give and unfortunately part of the atmosphere did. next time your at the Ralph, tell me how many people are in the concourse/bar paying attention to the game? You are probably a freshman or sophomore in college who's is a "die hard" fan but yet you never waited outside and skipped class to go to a Friday night game. So take your 11 posts and drink your hamm's till 15 min before the puck drops because you'll never get to experience the difference.

I will agree, the old REA was much more intense than the new place. The corporate structure of the new arena has taken all the "love" out of Fighting Sioux hockey which makes it tough to watch. Also, the fact that students are not as heavily involved like they used to makes it much more painful to watch. I remember when I was a student, it was hard to watch a game because the lady with a $500 purse and $1000 fur coat on couldn't "see" when we wanted to stand up and cheer. I'm not dogging the new arena but it may be first class facilities but it treats its real fans as 2nd class citizens when it comes to the atmosphere that we came to enjoy over the years.

This is what happens when the NCAA sticks their nose into something that doesn't belong. All the schools that have had to change their original nicknames due to "Political Correctness", now have gone with a standard safe name. Pretty sad if you ask me......

That's your only comeback, "wearing a Sioux ball cap on flights got me invited into a few cockpits and shout outs from pilots"? Our reputation isn't top notch right now and the longer this nickname debate and "fire Kelley" signs show up, the more we look silly.....

Why throw gas on a smoldering fire??? The nickname issue and President Kelley's issues are just dragging our school down, while the school from the south is excelling, we are making ourselves look like idiots. Kelley will be gone in a couple months and the Fighting Sioux nickname is not coming back, this should've been realized when the NCAA put us on the "list". I love the nickname and logo but the longer these issues drag on the less appealing it is for future students to want to go to UND.

The TC is a dump and the people that work there are not friendly but I'll still go because I like watching good hockey, the atmosphere is pretty good, and downtown MPLS tries its hardest to accommodate everyone.

I'd agree somewhat with you. Great goaltenders are few and far between but great forwards are not that easy to come by either.

It will take me awhile to move on from the name but I eventually will. The thing that bothers me the most is Alumni and ND residents have not had much of a say in the final process. Wasn't this the whole point of the "committee"? This whole committee thing has been a joke since day 1 and it gets worse and worse everyday. I for one am sick of being the laughed at (in the newspapers, radio, and TV) over this huge mess.

I agree that it isn't that great of a name but I just want that boob (Nanne) to get his undies all in a bunch. Just like when Parise spurned him and his little buddy during their visit to Shattuck to try and get Parise to play at the UofM.

I hope they go with North Stars, Lou Nanne is going to piss and moan even more!

We know that Hak leaving wasn't going to be a big deal with Bubs as the coach but does a recruits parents? All they see is Hak leaving for the pros and now that might set his development back. Then these CHL scouts come in and play off of that which will get the player and his parents questioning where he should go.

Anyone think that it had something to do with Hak leaving? Maybe some dumb CHL scouts filled his and his parents heads that Berry isn't as good of a coach as Hak because he had his shot in the NHL and couldn't handle it. Not saying any of that is true but you never know with those slimy scouts in the CHL...

That is what it is, rumors. I'm not sure why people get all bent out of shape if someone doesn't bring the cup to Grand Forks. With the Cup being in Grand Forks last year, I can see why he would choose not to bring it back. These players have played many other place in their careers; Grand Forks/UND was just a stop along the way. How many players have gone through Shattuck's program and never brought it their? We as fans shouldn't hold anything against him because he didn't bring the cup here.
