  1. Whoever place CF next year for the Twins will not even come close to Torii! Torii was the FACE of the TWINS and he gave it is all day in and day out. The thing that the Twins will miss the most is his clubhouse presense! Torii understood how the Twins did business (i.e. small ball, hit and run, stuff like that) and when players got a little big headed he brought them back down to earth (see Torii punching Morneau).
  2. Beating the likes of the Yankees and Red Sox...I dont think the Rays can but who knows! It would be nice to see them win the division. I have heard on some websites though (I would have to look back into it again) that Kazmir has been mentioned in a few trades. God I can't wait for Baseball to start again!
  3. I thought the Royals were on the right track a few years ago when they were contending late into the season, but for some reason they just fell apart after that. Being around professional baseball teams for the past two years, its pretty hard for a team to build a farm system with just draft picks, in reality only a handful of players that get drafted actually make it to the show. What the Royals and Pirates should do is suck for a few more years but stick with the young players but go scout players that are playing in independent leagues because there is some really good talent that is just waiting to be signed. What I meant about the Meche signing was that that contract set the standard for an average pitcher. An average pitcher isnt worth 55 million for 5 years. The D-Rays for some reason are a team that is on the rise. They diffently need to get some more quality pitchers, not flashy guys, just guys who can eat up some innings without doing any damage. Will they ever get out of the AL East...prolly not but a wild card berth is a realistic goal in the next few years.
  4. Arizona is becoming the Kansas City Royals and it is starting to piss me off.... Eric Byrnes is not worth 32 million over 3 years, just like Gil Meche is not worth 5 years 55 million either.
  5. Who knows, I guess Hak said that they wont be bringing in anyone next semester, we will have to see how he progesses...maybe he is a diamond in the rough! I am not saying he will ever be a number one goalie but a 3rd string goalie isnt a bad way to spend your college years. Will Hak bring in TWO goalies next year? I doubt it but thats my opinion. They have a SOLID Goalie coming in next year in Eidsness so I am not too worried about the goalie situation too much.
  6. Unfortunately soohockey15, i am with you on some things but not all. In hindsight the Twins MAY be better off with Santana but how far can you win with prospects? Prospects only get you so far and when you reach the playoffs you need leadership. Also it was not smart of the Twins to just let Hunter go because what did they get in return?...13 years of service and a wave goodbye! The least the Twins couldve done is traded him during the season and get something back in return because we all know he was not going to resign in Minnesota. The only pitcher that is probably going to get traded would be Nathan, the Twins will not pay him Francisco Cordero money when they have Neshek waiting in line that is fully capable of the closer duties. If the Twins DO get rid of a young pitcher it wont be for a speedy outfielder or let alone an OF, it will probably be for a bat, which the Twins are in need of. You did hit right on with Liriano not pitching much in '08. Although it seems that Liriano is coming back at regular speed there is one thing we wont see much of this year is his slider. With the slider putting A LOT of strain on a persons elbow I am sure the Twins pitching staff will limit him when the season starts. I wont put much thought into Liriano pitching that much this year to make too much of a difference. As of today the 5 starting pitchers would look something like this(not in this order)...Santana, Baker, Garza, Slowey, and Bonser.
  7. How do you get all these items(skates, sticks, etc...)? There isnt any auction for these items like they do for the jerseys is there?
  8. Do you think I want type all of that, I know what it all means. Your just pissed that I know what I am talking about. Have a good day!
  9. First, the field is divided into 22 slices, with each one starting at home and going to the outfield fence. The first slice running along the left field line is Zone
  10. I wouldnt ask for your opinion if my life depended on it. Is this your own list that you came up with? Because i would LAUGH MY @$$ off if i saw your list. No, batting average and RBI's and HR dont mean crap when talk about offensive stats. Lets talk about on base percentage, or maybe slugging percentage, maybe Isop, those would be just a few things I would talk about when talking offensive stats. Get a clue SOOHOCKEY, get a clue
  11. Obviously the Coaches and Managers thought Griffey had enough merit to win one. But this argument started as why Kent Hrbek shouldve won one and you still have yet to prove that he shouldve won it. Don Mattingly was the best fielding 1st basemen of his era and he has the awards to prove it. Ask anybody that knows anything about major league baseball or works within baseball and they will tell you that Don was the right choice. oh and by they way Griffey didnt play in 111 games in 1994...he played in 103 in CF and 1 in RF and then 9 games as a DH. and in 1995 he played only in 70 games in CF and 2 as a DH Once again you didnt do your research
  12. Well when I show FACTS its kind of hard to not take me seriously. You can't argue FACTS, something some people on here dont know how to get.
  13. what, are you my mother now? I will say what I want to say when someone says stupid things!
  14. No, I just hate people who dont do some research and just say things off the top of there head. I am a huge Twins fan but i know Kent Hrbek was not the best out there and I can live with that, some people cant live with that fact and keep coming up with stupid claims of why he is better then Don. Each time he speaks he is getting dumber because he does not take the time to actually find these things out, he just thinks he is Howie Schwab and can name things right off the top of his head.
  15. give it to someone who had a mere 3 errors in 105 games? that would be the stupidest thing ever, of course he is going to have less errors HE PLAYED IN A LOT LESS GAMES. To answer your question of how many GG did JR. win when he played a partial season...ZERO God you are getting dumber each time you speak...Griffey has only 10 GG and those 10 gold gloves all came when he played in SEATTLE not with the REDS it wasnt tell he got to the REDS that he started getting injured.
  16. I am failing to see what year you would be talking about: 1985 1st GG Don:159 GP 7 E .993 FP Kent: 156 GP 8E .995 FP(less games but more errors) 1986 2nd GG Don: 160 GP 6 E .996 FP Kent: 147 GP 10E .992 FP(once again less games more errors) 1987 3rd GG Don: 140 GP 5 E .996 FP Kent: 137 GP 5 E .996 FP(same FP but Don gets it because of the more games played) 1988 4th GG Don: 143 GP 9 E .993 FP Kent: 105 GP 3 E .997 FP (cant give it to someone who has played 38 less games) 1989 5th GG Don: 145 GP 7 E .995 FP Kent: 89 GP 4 E .995 FP (same reason he didnt win it in '88, except he played 56 less games) 1991 6th GG Don: 127 GP 5 E .996 FP Kent: 128 GP 8 E .994 FP (Don plays one less game and because of his past record wins it) 1992 7th GG Don: 143 GP 4 E .997 FP Kent: 104 GP 3 E .997 FP (plays in 39 less games and pretty much has the same record, not this year!) 1993 8th GG Don: 130 GP 3 E .998 FP Kent: 115 GP 5 E .995 FP (once again played in less games) 1994 9th GG Don: 125 GP 7 E .994 FP Kent: 72 GP 2 E .997 FP (award shouldnt have been given out but the season was 3/4 done anyway) now please tell me where should have kent won it?
  17. Saw Ryan C in class today and it didnt look like he had any trouble moving around, he walked around like nothing was wrong. That being said it might not hurt when you walk but when you run it could be a different story. I think Ryan C will be playing this weekend even if he still has a little bit of pain.
  18. Well soohockey tried explaining that you only win awards when you are on undefeated teams and then he went on to try and compare that with Gold Gloves in baseball and then I had to chime in and tell him his reasoning was wrong. But I also think everyone on this forum has a severe case of ADD because we all get sidetracked pretty easily!
  19. Don Mattingly : 1634 games=64 errors Fielding percentage .996 Kent Hrbek : 1609 games=87 errors Fielding percentage .994 are you still going to try and prove me wrong?
  20. Gold Gloves are based on DEFENSE NOT OFFENSE! and out of 19 Gold Glove winners this year 7 came from playoff teams. Also, last year Justin Morneau won the AL MVP and he was not on the best team in the country. To start on Derek Jeter, I hate the Yankees but Jeter is at best and average hitter but his fielding is what makes him, in 1783 games he has only 182 errors which gives him a percentage of .975 which is very good. So to say that if you win a Gold Glove just because you can hit and your on the best team in the country does not make any sense.
  21. Being from Crookston and knowing the wheelhouse family she is not a selfish player. Now i am not saying that just because i know them but the current pirate team is LOADED with talent from top to bottom and i believe that she got more assists than goals last year (i know for a fact she got 51 goals). The Pirate girls hockey team plays probably the most unselfish hockey there is and they spread the puck around. But her thing is she is very shy and does not like a big atmosphere, so that is why i believe she went to bemidji state.
  22. City/State you were born and where you live now? Grand Forks, ND-Grand Forks, ND Did you attend UND? Yes and still do Favorite current sioux player? Ryan Duncan Favorite all time sioux player? Joby Bond(didnt play much but I knew him) and Mike Prpich Favorite all time NON sioux WCHA player and team? Keith Ballard and Duluth
  23. Personally I doubt that it would ever happen because the Sioux and Gophers have respect for each other and we would never say anything about a coach. I think that guy from tech who is crying is just sad because he knows tech will never do anything in the WCHA. A real man wouldve taken his lumps like a man instead of crying like a little bitch on the internet.
  24. I think Chorney has an idea of what he is doing, I mean it has gotten him here and it has gotten him drafted 36th overall. Plus if he shoots it on net chances are the goalie is going to give up the rebound and our guys down low can bang it in there. It's a lot harder to tip a puck when the puck is flying at you and when you have a guy hanging on you then it is to slap it in off a rebound. And I don't mean to be an ass but thats just my opinion.
  25. I will quote spudshockey "it's probably not the best idea tell others on this site what to post and what not to post. Actually, they are free to post what they want." Also I don't understand where you can come off and say that because you only have like 59 posts. It dont matter how long you have been a member of this site or how many posts you put up, it its not accurate information then dont say it. Do some research and find out if its true or not, thats all i am saying.
