I've lived there and now I travel there and I can agree with what some of IowaBison is saying. 32nd Avenue is strip mall city...that could be Woodbury, Oakdale, Richfield (along the 494 stretch) or any other cookie cutter suburb in Minneapolis/St Paul. There was something about the old downtown that won't be seen again anytime soon. Cut the guy some slack.

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think IowaBison meant any disrespect by using the word "survive." I'd say Grand Forks survived, too, and I don't think it's a bad thing.

I live there and work in downtown St Paul, too. 494 east to Highway 5 to Shepard Road works like a charm. One-half hour on the button.

IowaBison, Keep this up and some people here might think Bison fans aren't such a bad bunch after all. I totally agree with you. People love to mention how Grand Forks rebounded, but East Grand Forks basically closed up shop. It's still eerie to me driving thru what was downtown East Grand Forks and seeing streets, street lights, and yet no houses. Plus, it's still Whitey's, but it just isn't the same.

I had to 86 mine a couple of years ago. It dated back to at least 1990.

I think we need to re-do some t-shirts that I wore a long time ago..."The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" t-shirts. Anyone remember those? That could be on the back and in smaller words on the front could be "siouxsports.com". The Good...Sioux logo. The Bad...Badger logo. The Ugly...Gopher logo. Of course, I could get my screenprinter to get the appropriate licensing fees from the schools.

Good for you. Ah yes, that football powerhouse James Madison University. Located where? It has nothing to do with ESPN's poll. It has everything to do with NDSU's obsession that Division I-AA football is the biggest gig in the state, which it is not.

Honestly, Bison Dan, I couldn't care less about UND debating the move to D1-AA. It's still small-time compared to Ohio State, Penn State, USC, and plenty of other schools. I just get a kick out of how you NDSU fans gloat over being big-time. Quick! Name the 2004 NCAA D1-AA football champ. Uh huh. I thought so...
