I get that a lot.

This actually took me several days to realize what you were talking about.

On a completely unrelated note and since I couldn't help by notice your avatar, have you been paying attention to the rumors of a major Viking logo and uniform overhaul this season? Supposedly the helmet logo is being replaced. This has got Arizona Cardinals or Cincinnati Bengals written all over it. UGH.

But isn't the Bison football team discussed on every message board from Hofstra to Cal Poly to James Madison to Stephen F. Austin?
-
Thanks for the link. Cue the Bette Midler...did you ever know that you're my hero...
-
Can you post a link to the Spirko goal from last year?
-
Thanks, skippy, for your two cents. Now go drink your $8 latte from Starbucks and ask mommy and daddy for your weekly allowance so you and your friends can enjoy some video games at Chuck E Cheese later this afternoon.

If NDSU thinks that by playing the U of Minnesota, the Bison are somehow a 'big-time' program, they have another thing coming. The only home games each year sold out at the Metrodome are the Wisconsin and Iowa games...and that's because 2/3 of the crowd is wearing either crimson and white or black and yellow. Put Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Michigan, Miami, LSU, or Georgia on the schedule, NDSU, and maybe I'll reconsider my assessment.

Well, on the plus side, sagard, had the POI team tied the game up with 15 seconds left in regulation, then gone on to win in OT, it may have sparked a riot in Dinkytown. Great job, Siouxsports team. You guys (and girls) look sharp in those green Pizza Factory jerseys, too, by the way.

This is almost comical. Does anyone care about D1-AA football any more than those lovable folks at NDSU?
-
Nevermind...I answered my own question. I was somehow thinking it was UNH in 2004 but it was the 2005 Minnesota Gophers.
-
What other team besides Minnesota and Michigan in 2003 did this?
-
I hate the jersey pop with a passion, but if Chorney is going to pull a stunt like that again, let's hope he does it when the scoreboard shows the Sioux well ahead and not trailing (as he did last time).

I think she was a blonde.

Seriously? I was there a few years ago...the only two girls there were some recently-separated mother of about six kids and one HOT HOT HOT college student.

Is Tassel's still alive in Thompson?
-
I heard a rumor that The Platinum Fox was planning on building a 'club' in Fargo. Any truth to that rumor?
-
I'm revising my departure time from 10:00 am to 7:00 am to accomodate this change of plans.

Tony Esposito? How about Tony Hrkac, Ed Belfour, Greg Johnson, and Zach Parise?

I have to comment on this year's fans during the Final Five. Contrary to 2004 when the Gophers defeated the Sioux in a fabulously-played championship game, this year's version of UM fans at the Final Five was quite different. I didn't hear any of the usual comments I get to withstand following a Gopher win in a tournament, whether it be over UND or anyone else. However, hop on over to GopherPuckLive and see some of the comments on there. Here's a sample: A picture of two guys in seats with the boards with a sign reading: Mullet hair cut: $5 Trailer in N Dakota: $300 Watching the Sioux/Huskies in the championship: Worthless (to which I added, "knowing those two bozos paid good money for those seats to watch the Sioux win: Priceless) I also noted a poster who amongst his top ten highlights of the Final Five was yelling "seig heil" at Sioux fans walking by their group. I'm glad I didn't happen upon that gathering. Other than those two instances, I think things were pretty quiet. No, Gopher fans didn't burn down Minneapolis and bigger prizes lie ahead than the Broadmoor Trophy, but quite a difference from 2004 to 2006 from the 'home' crowd.

In Michigan in 1998, the blue and maize "M" logo was displayed at center ice. This logo was in fact removed prior to the 2002 regional hosted at Yost in order to promote a more "neutral" event. In 2005, Minnesota hosted the western regional and the ice inside of the blue lines contained a "Western Regional Hosted by 'M'" logo. The logo being removed from center ice in Grand Forks is keeping with the practice started after 1998, nothing more, nothing less.

Grand Forks? North Dakota State University is in Fargo, WPoS. I'll see you outside the FargoDome at about 4:00 pm Friday afternoon. At 5:15 or so, we'll head into the Bison Sports Arena and watch your Gophers kick Holy Cross' butt!

I'm driving up Friday morning...

While I am happy that the WCHA has finally decided to own up to this and will distribute some corrected posters this weekend, this really isn't that big of a deal to me. Sports Illustrated ran the Top 10 Sports Pranks a few issues ago (I can't remember which one and can't remember the exact years, but you get the idea below) and two of them stood out: Yale fans dressed as Harvard fans passed out colored squares to Harvard fans entering the football stadium telling them the color coding (some white and some maroon) spelled out "Go Harvard". Instead, when fans were instructed to hold up the cards, the words spelled out "We suck." And best of all, the University of Virginia several years ago commissioned a re-designed locker room. The winning architect was chosen and did a locker room (as viewed from above the stadium) designed in a "V." Of course, unbeknownst to officials until later, the design was done by a graduate of Virginia Tech, and he had built in a storage shed or something next to the "V" in the shape of a "T". The locker room existed for several years, but was torn down a number of years ago. Now THOSE are pranks. I'd also classify the Minnesota team bus winding up at the FargoDome for Friday's pre-game warm-ups as a quality prank as well. The poster? I'll be happy to get a new one this weekend and call it a day.

I hope the Holy Cross Crusaders give me a reason to drive all that way a few hours early to catch their game with the Manitoba Provincial University Golden Gophers.
