I think the expectations are a bit high when anything less than an NCAA title is considered a failure. We've already seen the headline on GPL. It's a bit much to expect an NCAA title every single season.

I'm sorry, I can't support Ryan Potulny's case for Hobey BAkers solely on the basis of "most goals." 38 goals on the season, but almost 1/3 of them, 12, against Alaska-Anchorage, the last place team in the WCHA.

As mentioned in another thread, I ran into three Gopher fans having this discussion Saturday morning. Unbelievably enough, one of the three amigos decries the regional as being "ridiculous" because it was hardly neutral ice. The second guy did mention that the Gophers benefitted from home ice last year and probably wouldn't have made the Frozen Four without that advantage (kudos to him for admitting that). The third one piped up that he didn't care and it was time for host regionals to end and for neutral ice sites to be chosen, at which point (and I kid you not), he suggested the X as the perfect neutral ice site.

Question...what was the song being played just before the UND/HC player introductions on Saturday night? Highlights were being shown of HC's win over Minnesota and of UND's win over Michigan. Help! It's driving me nuts trying to think of the song and artist.

7. I attended the 2000 WCHA Final Five. This year, I attended the WCHA Final Five. OK, I attend it EVERY year, but it's still a connection. 8. I attended the 2000 western regional in Mariucci. I just got back from attending the 2006 western regional in REA. 9. I could not personally attend the 2000 Frozen Four, but watched it on TV. Alas, I cannot personally attend this year's Frozen Four either and will be watching it on TV. Coincidence? I think not.

I cheered as loudly at the Crusader game-winner as I have at ANY Sioux game. Unbelievable.

I'll tell you how, DaveK. In 2002, I wore my Sioux jersey to the X while with two of my buddies (the same two who have appeared in pictures with me on this site, one of whom is a Gopher fan). Along with my Sioux jersey, I wore a Gopher hat. I was taunted by numerous fans in and around the X, including a guy sitting behind me who tugged at my jersey and when I turned around, greeted me with the comment "where's your sh*tty team at?". I promptly pointed to my hat and told him I was all about the WCHA and was supporting his team. He lobbed another vulgarity my way and I removed my hat and tossed it on the floor. In 2004, victorious Gopher fans were all over the X harassing Sioux fans after a hard-fought 6-5 win by the Gopher hockey team. In 2006, I saw no incidents of Gopher fans having trouble with Sioux fans after either the St Cloud game Friday, third place game Saturday, or championship game Saturday. By contrast, one of the weekend highlights of a Gopher fan over on Gopherpucklive.com was listed as "yelling 'seig heil' to random Sioux fans as they passed by". Cheer against the Gophers? It's not that hard to do, actually.

LOL...I stopped for gas in Sauk Rapids while on my way back to Bloomington late this afternoon and the kid behind the counter saw my jacket and said "hey, GO SIOUX!." Pretty funny. Apparently his dad was so irate over FSN not showing the game yesterday that he drove to GF to purchase a ticket and see it in person.

sagard, I'm glad Gopher fans like you exist. In my hotel lobby on Saturday morning I ran into three Minnesota fans decrying home regionals as a joke. One went so far as to suggest that the NCAA needs to eliminate them and play in 'neutral venues' like the Xcel Energy Center. After five minutes of listening to them, I couldn't help but speak up and remind them of how Michigan and Minnesota have made the most of regionals in their own buildings and now that the tables are turned, the grumbling starts. Your posts on here, however, have been nothing but complimentary.

I'm a big fan of Michigan football, frnkdrcmn, and have been to several games at The Big House in Ann Arbor. The OSU/UM rivalry is second to none. I hadn't heard the "We Don't Give a Damn About Michigan" song until last night when I played it. It's like the damn Macarena now in my head.

I'll hopefully be rolling in hooters at 12:30 or so myself.

Uh..first the picture, now this? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Unless you're a cork soaker.
