As previously written, I enjoyed my experience in Mankato at the Friday night game, but it was unfortunate to watch some of the pro-Sioux mob shout down anyone yelling “Hawks” in a cheer. I love wearing my Sioux jerseys around just as much as the next fan, but it’s not the nickname anymore. The colors are still green, white, and black and we even have cool era-specific banners in the rafters now. That’s enough for me at this point in time.

So when is a good time to ease the “fanatic” into a Hawks jersey? Would 2079 work OK? The “Sioux Forever” crowd can’t keep using a pacifier much longer, can they? Why wouldn’t a vintage looking white jersey with a diagonal HAWKS down the front with the logo on the left sleeve be a good idea?
  3. Great old-school hockey jerseys, too, until they mucked it all up with that slanted font and number style.

  5. Mike Souza is only in his second year there and he's pretty much a legend in Durham. My money would be on the Maine job opening up before June of 2021. Red Gendron is on on a bit of a hot seat and the team's 8-7-3 record so far this season isn't exactly overwhelming anyone. Their opening night 7-9 loss at Providence College opened up the "Fire Red" hotline early this season.

Those were from a few years ago - the 2019 set has PENN STATE diagonally across the ront - no stripes on the front or the back.
  7. In a completely unrelated story, I still hate that green uniform with grey pants. Change the number outline to grey and put some grey facemasks on those helmets and we have a winner, though!
  8. Well never mind my post then. Upset city!
  9. I'd almost forgotten about that 2010 tournament loss...that Yale team in 2013...wow.

Penn State busted these out in I believe 2015 - the kelly green would certainly pop more than that dark blue of PSU does.
  11. That I did not know...that's a game-changer for sure.
  12. No comments on South Dakota State University losing 13-10 less than a month after beating UNI 38-7? OUCH!
  13. Surely, you jest.
  14. Your comments were regarding the TV market of NDSU including "much of Minnesota." Let's start with you clarifying what parts of Minnesota would be interested in watching the Bison on a weekly basis.
  15. OK, Brainerd AND Moorhead. "Much of Minnesota."
  16. So "much of Minnesota" now means the Brainerd area?
  17. I can throw a rock and hit TCF Bank Stadium. The only fans in MN who follow the Bison AND Gopher football programs are NDSU alumni who live in the area.
  18. App State also had the good fortune of beating Michigan on national TV in 2007...that helped elevate their program in a way that even NDSU's titles cannot compare to.
  19. I'm still not sure I'm over that one.
  20. Agree 100%. Most of Minnesota couldn't care less about NDSU and whoever they played a few weeks ago...they were too busy watching Minnesota vs Wisconsin for the right to go to the B1G championship game.
  21. jimdahl and I crunched the numbers this morning and the results are in! The statistical odds of a message board poster using the phrase "bellow like a pregnant bovine" in a sentence is about .0000000000002% for non-NDSU alumni, but increases to 53% for NDSU alumni. I found that statistic rather interesting.
  22. So using that as the criteria, Bowling Green and Northern Michigan have noteworthy programs while UNH does not. Colorado College’s last NCAA title came in 1957, but they make the cut, eh? UNH lost the 1999 NCAA title game in OT to Maine by a score of 3-2. In 2003, their star player was injured in the semi-finals and unable to play against Minnesota in the championship game. The result there was inevitable, unfortunately, for the Wildcats.
  23. Oh, he had a plan to fix Maine and he wanted fo be in Orono badly. Montgomery would have been to Maine was Dean Blais was to North Dakota.
  24. UNH hockey dates back to 1926 and the Wildcats have 20+ NCAA tournament appearances along with 7 Frozen Fours since 1977. Just because they have not won a national championship doesn’t mean they lack history and tradition.
  25. Schools that I would enjoy seeing make a return to the upper echelon of the college hockey landscape: 3) UNH. The Wildcats have a storied history and have just never been able to get over the hump. The last few years of the Dick Umile regime were rather painful to watch. Let’s hope things are on the upside soon. 2) Lake Superior State. The glory days of 1988, 1992, and 1994 are a long ways back in the rear-view mirror. It would be nice to see this school make a comeback sometime soon. Those jerseys, too, with the anchor on them...beautiful. 1) Maine. Oh, man, Paul Kariya has been gone a long time and this school really missed the boat on hiring his teammate Jim Montgomery as head coach when the opportunity was theirs for the taking. The Black Bears simply need to return to being a top tier program - and the sooner, the better.
