The 'fair-weather fan specials' were the empty seats. You, however, can be applauded for supporting your team.

That third place game win sure propelled them over the Gophers a short time later, didn't it? Obviously a 3rd place finish in a five team tourney doesn't excite many Gopher fans. One need only look at the number of empty 'fair-weather fan special' seats in the stands. Keep preachin' to your choir, buckysieve.

What a great picture of Gordy. Rest in peace.

Wait a second, bucky, I didn't think the Broadmoor was all that important? I guess it's only important if you win your semi-final game at the X. If you lose, you just say that the tournament didn't matter anyways and tank the third-place game, right? Stop straddling the fence and pick a side, would you? You scoff at the Final Five, now you use the lack of a Broadmoor Trophy to rip on Parise? Cmon...you can do better than that!

Editor's note: Editing done is my own.

Good point. I'm reserving judgement. And I edited my post.

I guess I haven't paid enough attention to your posts, Slap Shot.

Thank you...thank you very much...I'll be here all week!

sagard has always been pretty level-headed along with Greyeagle. The rest of the bunch? Well...

Is Phil gonna buy the NHL package from Direct TV?

Get out and buy a lottery ticket, my friend!

Did someone run over your dog recently? I don't think I've read a single post of yours that has a positive comment to say about anything since you've joined.

With all due respect, I don't know if being selected as rookie of the year has anything to do with draft selection number.
-
Phil's 2005-2006 statistics: 18 goals, 33 assists. 5 of those 18 goals (28% of his season total) and 11 of those 33 assists (a whopping 33%of his season total!) came in the six games against UAA, the last-place team in the conference. In fact, 12% of Phil's assists on the year came in ONE GAME against the Seawolves, a 9-0 thrashing. I'm not saying Phil didn't deserve the award, but if you're going to point out the simple statistic of "leading the nation in freshman scoring," rebuttals come quite easy. Care to bring up the Hobey "snub" given Ryan Potulny too?

You're right again, buckysieve. We shouldn't have played a single game last year so we could have handed Kessel the ROY award, Potulny the Hobey Baker, and the Gophers the NCAA title. Maybe you and Don can convince the NCAA to do away with the season this year, give the awards to Minnesota right now, and save everyone some time. Listening to you Gopher fans whine about how Kessel's linemates sucked, goaltending was horrible, etc., it's a wonder why you expected a title last season anyways. Damn...jump off the Titanic...iceberg right ahead!

I stand corrected. I was thinking ahead to the 1998 western regional, which was held at The Great Dane. My original post has been edited.

buckysieve, If you were paying attention last WCHA Final Five, the talk was that the winner of the 3rd place game between Wisconsin would get the #1 seed in the midwest regional in Green Bay and the loser would be going to Grand Forks as the #1 seed there. So instead of blowing off that game, had Minnesota put a thumping on Bucky, your beloved Gophers could have made a trip east to Green Bay instead of packing their bags for Grand Forks. The games do matter, sorry to say.

I don't believe there is any special "student" ticket. Anyone over the age of two is considered a full-price ticket.

Let's go back and start with 1997 and see how Minny's done in its own backyard: 1997 Final Five: North Dakota over Minnesota (St Paul Civic Center) 1999 Final Five: Denver over North Dakota (Target Center) 2000 Final Five: North Dakota over Wisconsin (Target Center) 2001 Final Five: St Cloud State over North Dakota (Xcel Energy Center) 2002 Final Five: Denver over Minnesota (Xcel Energy Center) 2003 Final Five: Minnesota over Colorado College (Xcel Energy Center) 2004 Final Five: Minnesota over North Dakota (Xcel Energy Center) 2005 Final Five: Denver over Colorado College (Xcel Energy Center) 2006 Final Five: North Dakota over St Cloud State (Xcel Energy Center) Minnesota 2-2 in title games in Mpls/St Paul since 1997. UND is 3-3. I don't think that people have an unreasonable expectation of the Gophers and how they do in their own neighborhood, sagard. If the Sioux played 9 years of Final Fives in East Grand Forks or Hillsboro, I'm guessing 4 title game appearances in 9 years and a 2-2 record in those games would be considered a bit of a disappointment. As an FYI, the 1998 Final Five was held at The Bradley Center and North Dakota was defeated by Wisconsin, 2-1.

How is the "Carmen Electra Hot Photoshoot" a blemish to the game of hockey?

Glad I can make ya chuckle, Rwtd. I still remember Rickey breaking Lou Brock's stolen base record. He gets to the mike and says "Lou Brock was a great base-stealer, but today, I am the greatest of all-time!". I can't remember the pitcher's name, but a player in the opposing dug-out today told him that the comments "made me want to throw up." Hilarious. The only self-promoter better than Rickey Henderson was Deion Sanders. TO is giving everyone a run for their money though.

Wow. That song is five years old. Ever heard of Aldo Nova? I think I'm old.

Sweet video. I'm not real up-to-date with my hard rock music these days...what's the first song and artist of the compilation?

You're mistaken, Greyeagle. Their banners say "Bill's Amoco," "JC Penney," and "Herbergers."
