  1. Sioux being outplayed fairly badly...REA as quiet as a Catholic Church on the 17th Sunday in ordinary time...
  2. I agree, Ray77. I sent an e-mail to Craig Dahl a number of years ago asking him to please tell his St Cloud State president to leave his opinions out of the National Hockey Center. Surprisingly enough, he e-mailed me back, but simply turned it around and asked me "what can I do? I'm just the hockey coach." The coaches and athletes are the ones who take the brunt of questions and comments as they travel around the country. I applaud Coach Hakstol for his comments. Thank you, coach! We ARE the silent majority.
  3. Time for a reminder! You can order up thru December 18th! If you ordered three weeks ago and your Schwans supply is running low, order more!
  4. Apparently, if you want to crown their asses, then you can crown 'em!
  5. My dad and both of my sisters spent time at NDSU and I do have respect for their sports programs. Bison fan or not, when I'm watching and hearing my former home state mentioned on ESPN for defeating the Badgers in men's basketball and beating the Gophers in football, I feel proud to say that I was born and raised in North Dakota. I'd hardly say my comments were "condescending" about UND football. I think they were more complimentary towards NDSU, but that doesn't mean I'm a Bison football fan in Sioux hockey gear.
  6. For all of you who thought this t-shirt was a great idea... TwinCites.com article about New Sioux T-Shirt
  7. Oh, here we go...that 10 of last 13 head-to-head meetings is as old as Green Bay referring to itself as "Titletown" despite winning exactly one Super Bowl since the days of the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field! Maybe you should go back 25 years or so into the 1980's and 1990's when UND was thoroughly dominated by NDSU. Or should we back it up further and go to the 1950's and 1960's when UND won 12 straight head-to-head meetings? I'm no Bison fan at all, but facts are facts. I'm probably not the only person who predicted that UND would immediately try to jump to D1-AA once the Bison did. Despite all the talk of "no interest" in moving up, you would have to be a complete dolt to think that UND was not seething at watching NDSU gain more notoriety in women's basketball, men's basketball, and football. Stunningly enough (note the sarcasm), UND is going D1. Next year the Bison can compete for titles...while UND lags behind for five years of waiting. I'm excited to see the head-to-head matchups resume and it will be interesting to see who comes out ahead. Advancing to the national championship game once every 5 to 10 years when the Sioux have advanced to how many DII national championship games in the past 10 years? 20 years? 40 years? I think you're a bit optimistic. I don't know of many Bison fans with Sioux tattoos.
  8. Not that there's anything wrong with that either!
  9. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
  10. Hey Hey! Ho Ho! Racist names like 'Pork Chop' have got to go! Like I said in an earlier thread, we're a nation ruled by a minority of one.
  11. The best team in the state of North Dakota? Since they don't play each other, I guess that's a matter of opinion, rather than fact.
  12. I'm simply pointing out that the nickname is nothing original. One year wonder? Hardly. The team was disbanded after its final regular season game in 1996 and players and staff never did receive a final paycheck.
  13. That league that no one cares about has a TV contract with NBC, something the NHL doesn't.
  14. Hmnnnnnn...I suppose you've never heard of this team before? Minnesota Fighting Pike
  15. Here were Marquette's 10 nickname choices as submitted to alumni for voting... Marquette's Nickname List Marquette Spirit? Golden Avalanche? Wolves? Oh the originality...
  16. After some research, I again have to eat my words. That's been happening a lot lately. The online vote was conducted sometime after May 23, 2005, which is when Marquette posted this: Marquette Letter to Its Alumni
  17. I hate to say this, DaveK, but you're blinded your Sioux loyalty if you think UND, who can't seem to figure out Grand Valley State and get anywhere in the Division II playoffs, will just march to the FCS championship game year after year.
  18. I wonder if we doctored up the Irish logo a bit and advertised this...hmnnnnnn...how do you suppose Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and others would react? ...but it's a leprechaun with a tan!
  19. Why bother? Let's just pay Notre Dame and use theirs!
  20. That's because the university has tended to emphasize "Marquette" more than the nickname. Most of Marquette's sports uniforms, if not all, don't even reference Golden Eagles. Within the last year or two, the university announced an online campaign to change the name AGAIN, and Gold actually was the winner. Within days, it was announced that the name would remain Golden Eagles. DaveK, I think you're overstating the importance of "Fighting Sioux." One of the big reasons "Gold" was shot down so quickly was because of Dwayne Wade saying he couldn't imagine being anything other than a Golden Eagle. Give it five years, and that's what UND hockey players will be saying about their new nickname. Marquette Changes Name to "Gold" Students Protest "Gold" Nickname Golden Eagles Nickname Stays Put
  21. A little too ironic...don'tcha think?
  22. Yea, keep pointing out things that can't be done. Hey, there's a logo, let's steal 70% of it and it's ok now!
  23. Iowa High School and Wisconsin's Motion W Logo The Woodlands High School (Houston, TX) and Motion W Logo Madison.com Article about "W" Abusers Penn State Logo Copyright Infringement By the way, the last article also makes reference to this quote, since I've seen this "30% rule" tossed around...
  24. I'm not comparing apples and oranges at all. Just because the North Stars moved, their previous logos, wordmarks, etc. remain property of the team and its owner(s). Do you think the Los Angeles Dodgers and Major League Baseball don't make a buck or two everytime someone buys a Brooklyn Dodgers throwback hat? You bet they do.
