  1. Rest in peace, Joel.

  2. Some schools salute their fans with a stick salute after every home weekend regardless of the results. LSSU has done it for years. I think it's something Michigan Tech has started in the last couple of years.
  3. You must have missed the joke yesterday in another thread. I pointed out that her goalie gear is clearly the "old" equipment. Loosely translated: Pads and glove are too big and cover too much area.
  4. I see AZSIOUX's avatar is still wearing illegal goalie-gear.
  5. Here come your University of North Dakota Prairie Knights! What's good for the goose...? Prairie Knights Casino

A bigger joke, AZSIOUX, is your avatar! She's clearly using illegally sized goalie pads and glove that were banned a few years ago. Let's see her with some regulation equipment, ok?
  7. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree completely with this logic. We would be WORSE off than Colts fans because their team "merely moved" from one location to another? I wonder how many season ticket holders in Baltimore fly to Indianapolis each weekend to see their Colts play? Probably not many. I'm a Fighting Sioux hockey fan forever. If the name change is imminent, so be it. I was, am, and always will be a Fighting Sioux fan. But if the name changes, my school is still in Grand Forks and the players still play hockey for the University of North Dakota. And when they come to town to play in the WCHA Final Five, I'll still be there to support them.
  8. Some? About 85,000 every Sunday afternoon. I'm sure the Baltimore Colts fan club exists somewhere though. You can find them in the Yellow Pages right next to "Hartford Whalers" and "Montreal Expos."
  9. I'm not disagreeing with that wish, Goon, just pointing out facts. Dodgers fans became Mets fans, Cardinals fans became Rams fans, Colts fans became Ravens fans. If the University of North Dakota Fighting Scotsmen win the 2025 NCAA hockey title, will some fans still sit around saying "it would have been better if they were still called the Sioux."?
  10. Puhlease. Just like the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Baltimore Colts, the St Louis football Cardinals, and the Grand Forks Central Redskins...give it five years after a name-change and the only people remembering the Fighting Sioux will be the old-schoolers like us. I don't hear many St Louis Rams fans demanding that the Cardinals nickname be restored and also think folks in Baltimore are more likely to think of Ray Lewis and the Ravens winning the Super Bowl as the "glory days" of Baltimore football as opposed to Johnny Unitas.
  11. Good luck. A "multi-cultural" committee full of "diversity" will surely approve the final choices and you'll wind up with this: Storm Thunder Lightning Heat Wild Fusion Fury Silver Hawks Blue Sky Shining Prairie
  12. I agree totally. The only way to resolve this issue will be to sit down with the tribes and say "what can we do?". Honestly, though, I think the quick reply will be "not a damn thing" and the nickname will be gone in three years.
  13. YOU think 'Warriors' would be fine but I can guarantee you that the NCAA feels otherwise.
  14. I've mentioned that over and over and over but it's fallen on deaf ears every time. I don't know what the answer is. I'm guessing a lot of people are asking themselves 'now what?' today.
  15. Um...given Marquette's change from Warriors to Golden Eagles years ago, why do you think Warriors would be a good fit for UND?
  16. Rest assured, if UND changes its nicknames, you'll still see the Sioux logo everywhere in REA, except where it matters: On the ice and on the team uniforms.
  17. One million dollars for this conversation: "We do not want to be labled 'hostile and abusive.'" "OK, you're not 'hostile and abusive.' Now you have three years to change your nickname anyways." "OK, will do."

AZ, What's the font size on the front numbers?

I think they're more like 14". The same picture shows the team wearing white jerseys with what appear to be 12" numbers. I also noted that it looks like the S tomahawks are not on the shoulders but down lower around the area where the number on the sleeve would be. Did you see that as well?

I took a look at my 75 Years of Sioux Hockey soft cover book and there is a 1960's photo in there that appears to have Sioux jerseys with 14" numbers on the back.
  21. Yes, I'm a slave to mites hockey and my boy has practice from 5-6 pm at BIG. I could be pursuaded to come to Senser's that, though!
  22. Sweet! So who wants to join me there?

That helps a lot! Any idea of the number font/size? I saw one picture of the home jerseys from that era and it certainly appeared that the numbers on the back were MUCH larger than the numbers used on today's jerseys.
  24. I need an early-season fix.
