  1. Fair enough. I would agree, but ballpark it at around 10-15 per title.
  2. See? For every action (Sioux loss), there is an equally opposite and positive REACTION (Gopher loss). Thanks for brightening my day, GFG!
  3. When I hear the words 'mediocre college hockey programs,' the names St Cloud State, Providence College, Ohio State, Mankato State, and Brown come to mind...NOT North Dakota.
  4. I can think of 8-10 WCHA teams that would GLADLY trade their past eight seasons for North Dakota's... What is your reasonable expectation for a title? Denver has 2 within what, the last 40 years? Minnesota 2 in the last 33, 34? Michigan? Boston University? About the same. What would YOU consider acceptable for North Dakota? Once every five? Three? Every other year? No question its a monkey on UND's back...I hope soon enough its off.
  5. ...and Red's 1997 team should have won it all, no excuses, just like North Dakota's 1998 team. Upsets happen.
  6. I clearly recall plenty of whining on here after the regional playoff losses to Michigan in 98...Boston College in 99...Denver in 04...
  7. Duke's Board of Trustees has called an emergency meeting this afternoon to discuss Coach K's job after the Blue Devils' 30something point loss to Miami the other night. I also read that Bob Kraft will be firing Bill Belichick no later than Monday.
  8. Same exact thing people on here were saying in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and on...Blaiser's lost it...he can't win the big one anymore...only two national titles? We should have five or six! Lather, rinse, change coaches, repeat...
  9. I was at UND from 88 to 92 and in 1990, the sloooow decline that ultimately resulted in Gino losing his job was starting. By 1992, old REA was a half-full morgue. I was at the 1997 WCHA tournament and will never forget the excitement those kids showed when Armbrust slammed the game-winning rebound past Minnesota in OT. Contrast that with the 'business trips' and non-celebrations of the past few years... Just look at UND's media guides and pictures. Plenty of shots of Toews and Commodore holding up the Stanley Cup...like I said, emphasis on making YOU, the recruit, an NHL hockey player, not a Fighting Sioux legend. I like Zach Parise as a player as much as anybody here, but I will take the results of Matt Henderson's four years any day over Zach's team accomplishments in his two.
  10. UND makes a great case for professional hockey player wanna-be's to come...for a year or two or maybe three. Would it be better to recruit guys who will play for FOUR years as opposed to two or three at best? My favorite team ever was the '97 team. You couldn't pick Matt Henderson or Peter Armbrust out of a crowd today, but they wore that Indian-head with pride for four years. Maybe it's time to get back to recruiting those kinds of players? We're on the same side, fightingsioux4life. What would you consider 'acceptable' in terms of national titles? Outside of Boston College recently, about every 10-15 years seems pretty much par-for-the-course for schools like Michigan, Boston U, Minnesota, Maine, North Dakota, etc.
  11. Would four straight Final Five's be enough 'winning' for you? Or is ANYTHING less than a national championship every-other-year considered failure? I saw Chay Genoway and his minus 5 game as a freshie or soph against Maine. I'm glad he wasn't tossed off the team after that game. Obviously not a good game by the Sioux last night...I'm anxious to see how they respond to adversity tonight.
  12. Let's not turn college hockey into college football by firing coaches if they don't win a national title within three years of being hired. Go look up some history and see how long it took Red Berenson, Jack Parker, and Jerry York to win national titles...or how many years between titles they had before winning another one. I would imagine you will be surprised. Yes, I'm aware of Jerry's recent good luck...go back further.
  13. LOL! The best night of my life...if it was me in your shoes.
  14. Dunno...it worked for me. Oilers back in the royal blue and orange uniforms instead of navy blue and copper. Perfect.
  15. You know things are bad when the NCAA needs dirty tricks to investigate THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI HURRICANES! Good grief...that case should have been a slam dunk. Has anyone seen the ESPN 30 for 30 espisode on 'The U'? It's good stuff.
  16. UND has a couple of cake-eaters on its roster too...I've chatted with one of them a couple of times and he openly jokes about it!
  17. If Hakstol was on fire and Frank's rug had been doused with lighter fluid before-hand, then Frank would probably spit on Hak.
