I believe on another thread quite some time ago, you and I both expressed frustration over failing to carry the puck into the zone in the Michigan semi-final game a few years ago. Then we got to watch UMD figure that out a day later in the title game. I do agree with your criticisms at times...especially when it seems to be 'if it doesn't work in the first or second period, we'll just try the same exact thing in the third.'
-
No, that's all YOU are doing...and that's fine. I bet 2/3 of gfhockey's post count contains the words 'fire Hak' or, in his case, since his cell phone apparently doesn't have an upper-case button, 'fire hak'.
-
But I thought UND voted with the 'big schools' in the WCHA?
-
No, I didn't prove your point, boy. Your point was that UND had a hundred million dollar arena and UMD doesn't. While not on the scale of REA (I didn't realize that granite was such a powerful recruiting tool), Amsoil Arena is no crap-hole. If facilities are the sole reason behind championships, why did Boston win the title in 100+ year old Fenway Park over places like Comerica Park and PNC Park?
-
Fenway Park, when compared with new parks, is a dump. That was my point.
-
Amsoil Arena isn't exactly the Bloomington Ice Garden when compared to REA. And if best facility equates to champions, why did the Red Sox win the World Series and not the Twins?
-
My bad. I thought gfhockey was referring to UMD coach Scott Sandelin. I admittedly don't know where this Sandeling guy coaches, but he must be good.
-
Didn't you just say that ALL opinions are still welcome in a chat room right before this post? I also didn't see any Penn State players snapping each other with towels or dancing on the sidelines during the Ohio State debacle. Just sayin'...
-
UMD: 5-4-1 UND: 4-5-1 Clearly, Sandelin is far superior to Hakstol as head coach so far this season. Were you screaming this loudly for Sandelin and Herter when UMD was busy losing to Michigan Tech and Ohio State?
-
Bummer. I'm so sick of TC media and their talk of the streak. Please please someone beat the Gopher women's team. I personally know someone whose daughter is one of the top players in Minnesota. Their arrogance in recruiting is unbelievable.

Awwww...shucks. Speaking of the Hoggsbreath...is it too early for that thread to start?

Right on. Bo's a good example...Dean Blais is another one. Sioux fans conveniently seem to forget where he played his college hockey.
-
That one (November or December '97) pretty much leads into the '98 Yost trip so it's all one story.
-
Red Berenson sent me an e-mail yesterday inviting me back to Yost Arena in December for the 15 year '98 Michigan team reunion.
-
I've said it before...UND hockey seems to cater developing players for the pros as opposed to putting together pieces parts to make a great team. Doug Woog had the same problems in his later years at Minnesota - too many guys wanting to score 20 goals a season and not enough role players. Peter Armbrust...Matt Henderson...Brad DeFauw...the Hoogsteens...Jeff Panzer...now it's all about NHL draft board status.
-
Good thing, too, because St Cloud State helps the NCHC with national exposure. Yes, that's sarcasm. Big 10 football exists thanks to Northwestern, Illinois, and Indiana. But even those schools recognize that Michigan and Ohio State are the straws that stir the drink. Seems like the NCHC wants to bend over backwards making sure everyone's treated the same. In theory, good. In practice, not-so-much.
-
UND will be at the NCHC tournament next spring. Book it.

Come to the Hoggsbreath next spring and I'll be happy to re-tell the story of my trip to Ann Arbor for the 1998 western regional...and how I am to blame for the Sioux not winning back-to-back national championships.
-
Props to the Chargers for playing what sounded like a hard-fought 4-3 game last night...hot on the heels of the 10-0 thrashing they received on Friday.
-
Yea, because that's what every new head coach wants...the former head coach reporting to him. No possible conflict there...
-
Jackson can't play net...don't they have Goehring for that?
-
In terms of a Sioux sweep or gfhockey saying something positive?
-
How many dumb penalties did Hakstol take tonight? How many soft goals did Jackson let in?
-
I didn't say it would be this weekend, did I?
-
And examples of this are where?
