Well of course they did. The game-time was moved to 7:00 pm to accomodate the local fans and so the players would still FEEL like it was a championship game. Win-win situation.

Funny how that works. I pointed out the silliness of this double-standard when West Virginia's basketball team travelled to Spokane several years ago to play Gonzaga. Some fans in the stands had signs reading "brokeback mountain" and a chant using the same language broke out in the student section. Nobody ever said a word about West Virginia needing a nickname change to prevent this type of behavior from ever happening again...but Gonzaga went so far as to request tapes of the game from ESPN so students could be disciplined. But if West Virginia would have just changed their nickname, this wouldn't be an issue, right?
