Anders Lindback might not be the guy Tampa Bay needs in order to go far in the playoffs...not that his defense was a lot of help last night, but sheesh...

Hey, that reminds me...I can't wait to hear "Beyond the Pond" this weekend. Hopefully by then, Rau and Wilcox will both have signed pro contracts.

Reminds me of a great 2001 Final Five story...Gopher fans in front of me debating who to cheer for in the championship game (North Dakota vs St Cloud State). They chatted for a few seconds and finally one guy says this: "Gotta go with the Minnesota boys" and proceeds to fist-bump the other guy. "Yea, cheer for the Minnesota kids, not the Canadians," was the reply. I tapped one of the two guys on the shoulder as I handed him my tournament program. Told him to count the number of Minnesotans on St Cloud's roster and then count the number of them on North Dakota's roster and get back to me. You see, at the time, UND had more Minnesota kids than St Cloud did on the team. The one guy checks over the program and realizes that I'm right. He tosses the game program over his shoulder (literally, without warning) and mumbles "f*** you...I'm still cheering for St Cloud."

Whoa, whoa, whoa, NDH...step back from the ledge! Of course there's a lot more to life than GPL and SiouxSports.com...the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs are on TV!

Watch the replay of the game-winning goal...it happened so fast, it was hard to catch. I don't blame the officials on that one at all.

1975...Michigan Tech 1988...LSSU 1991...Northern Michigan 1992...LSSU 1994...LSSU I know the gap from 1976-1988 is kind of long, but that's 5 NCAA championships for 'da UP in a span of 20 seasons. It sure would be nice to see those three schools catch lightning in a bottle again.

You didn't pick up on the sarcasm, Tiggsy. Here's a recap: Pre-game: Blow-out city...Union's slow...let's roll these clowns... Post-game: Union's better...over-achieved all season long...still a great accomplishment...

And I said it was correct. I also posted on GPL that I would have gladly traded a semi-final loss for a loss in the championship game. That's my opinion. The excitement and build-up of Thursday to Saturday is incredible and the chance to win a title is an accomplishment in itself...even if you wind up on the losing end of the score.

21 years, 11 months for Union. 21 years, 2 months for Minnesota. 9 months. Ironically enough, the same Gopher fans patting Parenteau (who turns 25 in June) and Serratore (who turns 25 in July) on the back for their dedication to Gopher-land were some of the same fans ridiculing Union for having "a bunch" of 24 year olds on their squad. For the record, Union had 2 players 24 years old on their roster - Mat Bodie being one of them. Both just turned 24 recently (Bodie in March and Sam Coatta the day before the tournament started, April 9th). But let's not let facts get in the way of a good excuse...

Well that's weird...I just checked out the first sentence of the opening paragraph of GPL's site and I saw this: http://gopherpucklive.com/ Somebody should change that to read: "...except in 2013-2014 because we lost Haula, Bjugstad, Schmidt, Budish, and Alt to EARLY departures plus Seth Helguson as a senior and no one expected this years Gopher team to be as good as they were."
