I like the logo and the nickname, but the idea was more along the line of "Mustangs" like I suggested earlier. Fighting Sioux to Fighting Mustangs? You're right if the name is "Aeros," but perhaps if some diversity training was given to students so they knew not to confuse "Aeros" with "arrows" (along with "could not care less" and "their," "they're," and "their"), it would work.

If UND was located in Hillsboro, I don't think there would be any issue with the school also being called the Burros. Problem is though, you're dealing with quite the rivalry between GFC and RR and risk alienating about 1/2 of the town's population base should you decide to call the team "Rough Riders."

That nest may be nice, but there's a reason Toronto's NBA team is looking at a total re-brand. That Raptors identity is just plain corny.
-
How about "Mustangs," but the plane kind and not the horse kind? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_P-51_Mustang

Nope and nope. But now that Aeros is suddenly available thanks to Houston moving to Iowa and becoming the Iowa Wild... The Aeros logo and uniforms were simply awesome.

Yea, when I saw "Wildcats" as a suggestion, my next thought was immediately "Winship Elementary School." OK, I lie. Actually, it was New Hampshire.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season

Beck? Isn't he the guy that sang the song "Loser" in the early 1990's? Or was he the guy that played h.s. basketball for Linton and won back-to-back Class B state titles in the '80's? -

Hey, if we're going to dog-pile Goon and his use of proper English, can we once-and-for-all get the phrase "could care less" fixed? If you COULD care less, you are indicating that you actually DO care, albeit probably just a little. If you "could not care less" or "couldn't care less," you are stating that you don't care at all, hence the expression. -
Because it's not the Christmas season, that's why.

It happened twice before in the entire history of the league...now it's happened twice in four years. While the Kings' comeback is historic, I still think it ranks a notch behind Philadelphia's 2010 Eastern Conference Finals comeback over Boston. Boston, much to Ray 77's and Goon's chagrin, led game 7 3-0 with 5 minutes and 50 seconds left in the first period. They wouldn't score again and lost 4-3 on a third period goal by Simon Gagne. Other memorable 3-0 series comebacks: 1942 Maple Leafs over Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals - ouch 1975 Islanders over Penguins in conference quarterfinals Note: This is just the SECOND time a team has come back from a 3-0 series deficit while winning game 7 on the ROAD ('10 Flyers being the other one). The '42 Maple Leafs and '75 Islanders won their series' game 7 at home.

OUCH!

Threw a fit? The guy who stood and gave Gomez a few words and then TURNED AWAY AND WALKED BACK TO THE MOUND is the guy who threw "a fit." Watch Gomez's PED-sized head explode in a total rage after Cole walks away and then get back to me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqG5sixi7R0

I think you are confusing South's Squirt C's with North's Squirt C's...
-
Great effort by Wayne Simmonds of the Flyers tonight.
-
This is the same Flyers team that played like the Lakeville South Squirt C team two days ago, right?
-
I can only imagine Carlos Gomez's reaction to the very same pitcher giving him a "choke" sign or an umpire "punch-out" signal had CG struck out as opposed to hitting a ball off the top of the centerfield wall...I bet it wouldn't have looked any different...
-
Totally down with that...I would have plunked Carlos right in the butt with a fastball next time up at the plate...
-
So it's perfectly OK for a hitter to take 40 seconds to round the bases a la David Ortiz, showboat by doing a cocky bat toss, preen to the crowd, pose, or moon-walk around the bases after hitting a dinger, but heaven forbid a pitcher take offense to any of that, lest he be branded a "whiny little baby"?
-
Well, it's too bad "Wild" has already been taken...
-
That was my thought as well after watching the replay 17 times on the DVR rewind last night...

SOOOOOOOOOOO Lakers, baby!

I agree, bale31. Minnesota State just won its first-ever Broadmoor Trophy is what was an entertaining WCHA "Final Five" in Grand Rapids. They're in a great position (simply due to their geographic location) to play non-conference games against St Cloud, Duluth, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and perhaps even Michigan or Michigan State. I'd be surprised as well if they were suddenly looking at jumping ship to the NCHC, particularly after what was arguably the best season of Maverick hockey ever.

...San Jose and Joe Thornton somehow find a way to add to their playoff 'legacy' by coming up with new and excruciating ways to under-achieve in the playoffs year after year. They will do so again on Wednesday by losing to the Kings...by blowing a 3-0 series lead...despite having game 7 on home ice...by giving up the game-winner with .6 left on the game clock.
-
I don't know how that was a goal...moot point now though.
