Seriously, though, I need to add a skating Friar jersey to the collection...and SOON! -
I'm not sure where you were at but he caught some flack in '98 and that really ratcheted up in '99. The '00 title quieted that talk but the team lost in '01, watched its biggest rival win in '02 and '03, and finally lost in the regional with what some folks thought was his best team in '04. If you don't think there was some talk of Dean Blais having lost his Midas touch, you're wrong.

You're looking at the KPH reading, not MILES per hour, Goon.
-
I'd agree with you, although UND did get to 3-2 in the 2nd before giving up two late goals, including that dagger with less than 30 seconds left to make it 5-2 at the break. Didn't exactly get that "epic comeback" vibe headed into the 3rd either...

Fixed! -
Would anyone else here like to see Goon and DaveK just meet in an alley somewhere and slug it out already?

I had to re-wind the DVR because I wasn't sure where the game was being played. I thought it was in Japan. -
I guess it all depends on whether the coach was cheating with the hot stripper at the King of Diamonds or with the snaggle-tooth chain-smoking divorcee living across the street from him, wouldn't it?

2006: BC comes into the Frozen Four having smoked Miami 5-0 and BU 5-0 in the regional. They promptly "blowout" North Dakota 6-5. 2007: BC beats St Lawrence 4-1 and Miami 4-0 en route to a 6-4 "blowout" over North Dakota in the Frozen Four. The 6th goal was an empty-netter. 2008: BC beats Minnesota 5-2 and Miami 4-3 in OT before thumping UND 6-1 in the Frozen Four. No doubt, a good old-fashioned out-behind-the-woodshed whoopin'. By no means am I suggesting that North Dakota played well in any of those Frozen Four games against BC, but I get tired of the revisionist history that the Eagles skated UND right out of the building those three consecutive seasons. The only true "blowout" was the 2008 game.
-
Yes, you're correct. Considering all those losses to BC in the tournament, it's quite stunning to actually look back and realize that the Eagles only won ONE title in years when they beat ND in the tourney.

2005: Denver (title game) 2008: BC (semi-final game) 2013: Yale (regional final)

ESPN's Sports Reporters spent 5 minutes on Indiana's new state law today and nary a word was said about Harrison's comment. I guarantee you that had Kentucky won and Frank Kaminsky said the exact same comment about Harrison, we'd be looking at wall-to-wall coverage about the incident on every channel. -

Duke vs Wisconsin...I think I'll just root for the arena to implode on Monday night. -
vs. I'm concerned about the "Hak vs. Blais" match-up not panning out because when the potential of something taking place is discussed too much (like it is in the thread on this forum), IT WINDS UP NEVER HAPPENING! All week long I heard about how Michigan State could be this year's UConn and win the NCAA basketball title while taking out a 39-0 Kentucky team in the process. Sure enough, the Spartans get run out of the gym by Duke last night and Kentucky is promptly upset by Wisconsin! The Kansas City Royals winning the World Series? Of course the Giants had to break everyone's heart. Peyton Manning winning the Super Bowl two years ago? They're gonna KILL Seattle! Go figure, right? So, enough about Hak vs. Blais and North Dakota vs. Omaha for the title - it's time to discuss Providence vs. Boston U in the title game - the true "dream" match-up! Without further ado, here are the top five reasons why Providence College vs Boston U is the game we should all be hoping for: #5) Because Boston is better than anywhere else in America. Just ask someone who lives there. #4) You mean they actually play college hockey west of UConn? When did THAT start? #3) Nobody really cares about those western teams anyways. Do they even have electricity and running water in Omaha and Grand Forks? #2) Because Dave Starman and the rest of those NCHC homers can go home and we can listen to the HE "professionals" during title game coverage. It never gets old hearing someone say "twisted wrist-ah" or "wicked hodd slap shot." and, most importantly, #1) Because "New England" and Boston in particular, have never won ANYTHING major in sports and it's about time they did!
-
Uh, they lost to DU in the title game in 2005 so that's 2 right off the bat in terms of losing to the eventual champs. Yale's a third one in 2013 and there was a BC or two in there as well.

So Big 10 Wisconsin has the guts to hire a guy whose success was primarily at UW-Platteville (along with two seasons at UW-Milwaukee) but North Dakota shouldn't be remotely interested in some guy from Moorhead to take over for Brian Jones because of a lack of D1 experience? -

...along with a run on cyanide capsules in Lexington KY... -
Uh, no he didn't. The last "small-rink" venue that held the NCAA Frozen Four was the Providence Civic Center (now Dunkin' Donuts Center) in 2000.
-
"Media centers" like Tampa and Columbus OH? At least Fargo would know the Frozen Four was in town. Pretty much everyone in Columbus thought all the North Dakota and Minnesota fans were there to check out the Buckeye spring football game!

A-Rod apparently injected Santana while Ervin was passed out.

And, of course, Santana has "no idea" how Stanozol wound up in his system...

Apparently a requirement of being chosen to be an official in an NCAA Final Four game involving Duke is that you have a college degree...from Duke. -
Lucia has gotten waaaaay more leeway than Woog ever did thanks to those titles in 2002 and 2003. In the last 10 seasons, Minnesota has made the NCAA's 7 times. Of those 7 appearances, 4 resulted in one-and-done losses (06, 08, 13, 15), 1 resulted in a second-round loss (07), 1 was a Frozen Four semi-final appearance (12), and 1 was a Frozen Four championship game appearance (14). In addition, the team has not advanced out of a regional other than when they were played in St Paul (12 and 14, obviously); going 1-5 in 6 tournament games outside of the X, 4-0 at the X. Doug Woog went 27-12-1 in 1997, the year North Dakota won the title. 17-22 and 15-9-9 later (two seasons), he was ousted. No way he's shown the gate that quickly following two consecutive less-than-memorable years if Randy Skarda's shot off the post in the 1989 title game goes in the net instead. I guess in short, oh great and powerful jimdahl, is that I concur with you.
