40 years? I'd say THIS was a pretty rough stretch for a couple of coaches...

21 seasons of hockey, 5 NCAA titles, and 6 years of what I would very-much-so call "down years." 6 out of 21, almost 1/3 of that stretch was this: 87-88: 21-20-1 91-92: 17-21-1 92-93: 12-25-1 93-94: 11-23-1 94-95: 18-18-3 95-96: 19-18-1 Don't get me wrong, 5 titles in that stretch is amazing, absolutely amazing. But to say there were no lean years or "not very many" is revisionist history.

That's 1984-85 thru 2003-2004. Sorry, but having attended UND from 1988-1992 and having seen home games in the 1993-1995 time span, I'd hardly say I was witnessing the "flat out best team in college hockey" over a good 7 years of that stretch you're throwing out there.

No thanks. I already had my heart ripped out of my chest twice last night as I was dumb enough to watch the late-night replay last night/this morning.

You know, I hope you had the b*lls to hang out outside of the team breakfast this morning and personally confront every member of the team and coaching staff with your tired old lines after they finished up and walked out. You go tell 'em how it is, gfdrunkey. It's a damn shame that they couldn't win YOU a championship this weekend.

2006: UND loses to BC, who loses to Wisconsin. 2007: UND loses to BC, who loses to Michigan State. 2011: UND loses to Michigan, who loses to UMD. 2014: UND loses to Minnesota, who loses to Union. 2015: UND loses to BU. I like Providence College's chances on Saturday. Yes, 2008 was an anomaly as UND lost to BC, who went on to defeat Notre Dame for the title, but I'm ignoring that game. If PC does defeat BU, since 2006, the team that defeats UND in the semi-finals will have a 1-5 record in the championship game.

I just hope that someday soon we can watch the team win it all - and dedicate the banner to all those teams that got oh-so-close since 2001 but didn't quite do it. To the 2014 - 2015 team and coaching staff: I know this hurts you all more than it hurts the fans - and it hurts us pretty bad, so I can't even imagine how you must feel. Thank you for the good times this season. Fighting Sioux Forever.
