  1. Raskob questioning what he just did LOL.
  2. It took a perfect game to beat Denver too...a game NoDak HAD to win and one Denver just didn't want anybody to get hurt in.
  3. And Harvard was playing well...and UMass-Lowell was playing well...and Penn State was playing well...
  4. It could easly be BU against Denver too. Sorry, but UND was nowhere near being consistently the 3rd best team in the country this year.
  5. Finland beat Germany 8-0 in the bronze medal game. The upset vs Canada was in pool play, which Canada sleep-walks thru anyways. Germany was outscored 19-0 in the semi-final game and bronze medal game. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/si/nhl/2017/04/04/womens-world-championship-finland-germany-gap%3Fsource%3Ddam Closing the gap? The opening statement in this article is a joke, right? If 11-0 and 8-0 medal-round games are your idea of "closing the gap," sure, I guess. But if this tournament is somehow supposed to make me interested enough to tune in to watch Russia va Canada or Switzerland vs USA in next year's Olympic pool play, no thanks. I might watch the gold medal game...if I don't have to shovel snow that day.
  6. Wait, what? So who did the US beat last night, Slovenia?
  7. You lost me with this comparison...
  8. USA semi-final: 11-0 over Germany Canada semi-final: 4-0 over Finland I'm going to revamp my original tournament idea. Let's get rid of Sweden and Finland and just have the USA and Canada play a best-of-three to decide who will wear the home whites in the gold medal game.
  9. The Ridder family donated $500K. Minnesota taxpayers "donated" $10 million.
  10. This is what happens when you give someone a blank check...the budget becomes whatever they fill in the check for themselves.
  11. Obviously Norm Bazin being an alumn of UM-L influenced his decision, too, as did him almost losing his life in the DWI crash in 2003 while on a recruiting trip for CC (he was hit by a drunk driver and almost died). I think the scars of that incident probably led him to want a fresh start outside of Colorado.
  12. UMass-Lowell pounded Notre Dame into submission in the HE semi-finals. Losing to the Fighting Irish was a monumental upset in the regional that Lowell will carry with them into next season. I've seen UM-L play several times over the past few years and Norm Bazin is building a solid foundation for success there.
  13. UMass-Lowell has been Division I in men's hockey since 1983. Prior to Norm Bazin becoming head coach, the team had two NCAA tournament appearance to its credit. Since then, they have been Hockey East champions in 2013 and 2017 and have won the post-season tournament in 2013, 2014 and 2017. They have made the NCAA tournament every year since 2012 with the exception of 2015. Given that Hockey East has been absolutely dominated by Boston U and Boston College since what seems like forever, I'd say this is a pretty impressive recent list of accomplishments. Then when you consider how far once-dominant programs like UNH and Maine have fallen by the wayside, I'd say it's even more impressive given the talent flow thru the big-wig schools in Boston. Tradition's gotta start somewhere...much like North Dakota's did. But, I guess, if you haven't been around for 75+ years and haven't won a boatload of NCAA championships, you may as well just fold up your program and go home, right?
  14. LOLWUT? UMass-Lowell was a solid club. They would have given Denver a much better game.
  15. Probably buffing it too.
  16. COULD BE? This team is scary enough this season. DU rolls on Saturday.
  17. This tournament is a joke. There, I said it. Invite Sweden, Finland, Canada and the USA and make it a one weekend event. Spare me the "drama" of a, what, almost two-week long circus and an 11-0 medal-round semi-final game. Embarrassing.
  18. I don't know why he wasn't even considered. Former team captain, national champion, coaching experience. At least worth a look, no?
  19. Saw an article online an hour ago talking about Germany "closing the gap" between the USA and Canada. Yea, not so much.
  20. Maine needed Montgomery...and he was practically begging for a shot at the job.
  21. Maine didn't even contact Montgomery about the possibility of interviewing for the job. The words "epic fail" are thrown around a lot these days...
  22. USA defeats Germany 11-0 in a thrilling IIHF World Championship semi-final game. Stunned that this wasn't televised.
  23. TRADITIONAL CIRCLE OF STICKS! @ringneck28 and @yzerman19 Friday morning mimosas for Denver and UMD!
  24. THE DENVER FAN IS ON HIS FEET!
  25. Part of the problem was Joe Louis Arena.
