In most years, we don't even know the World Championships are even going on - womens OR mens. This year, apparently the womens tournament is drawing Super-Bowl like ratings and is the biggest tournament since the 1980 Olympics.
How was UND going to "produce a national championship...at the highest championship level" with "walk-ons who would have never had that opportunity to play at that level?" Or were North Dakota's walk-ons going to wind up as "Miracle Part II" and defeat Minnesota's All-Americans in an NCAA title game down the road?
I'm disappointed the program was cut, too, but what's the solution? Reinstate it effective immediately and figure out the budget later? Good plan.
Well-said, @ringneck28, but you're quoting Rule 6, not Rule 7. Rule 7 pertains to the "Traditional Circle of Sticks." Easy to confuse with that, ahem, "other" circle.
