  1. Now we know why MIDCO acquired The broadcast rights to Sioux hockey. Well fine then, use us to gain market share in Fargo but then show us some respect and do the following: 1. Hire Sweeney! We all really miss him:-( and besides the dude was the consummate professional and Sioux fan. I really do miss the attitude he brought to Sioux telecasts. No offense Hammer we just love the guy.) 2. Get the HD quality to the top level for Sioux telecasts. 3. Try really hard to get us on a satellite provider. 4. Lobby very hard to get a waiver from CBSportsTV to allow your broadcasts to be on FCS(at least on nights when they are not showing any College Hockey telecasts at the same time. 5. (Just because this is the last request don’t discount its importance), Get rid of the “get on your feet” song. We all are So tired of hearing it. It is painful!! I think it is worse than the Macarena!… I just cannot understand how you can simply ignore what your viewers are saying to you. I think?? we have been very clear and collective about our hate for the song? You do realize that many on SS.com have attempted to communicate this to you right? And you do further realize that (from my measures anyway) there have been ZERO defenses of the tune correct?? If you need help with another tune I could help. I don’t have really any experience in such endeavors however I do know that some sort of crescendo is required for pretty much any tune used in sports. Picture the get on your feet tune in your head and sing along; it’s the-same-thing! it’s the-same-thing! it’s the-same-thing! (cheep electric guitar twing-n-beat).. ARE you LISTENING???%$#!@$#!..CAN you HEAR us?… Hey somebody start a poll on SS.com, Should Midco lose the song? or Love it-don’t care-hate it?
  2. Agreed. I remember last year when they put him up with Knight and Kristo I was thinking that was a stretch. Now I am starting to become in awe of his play. Sat night he looked awesome. He reminded me of Stafford. Pattyn has been playing with the puck in the zone on another level too. Chyzyk is starting to get some maxi on the offensive boards as well as Rodwell when he was playing healthy. Caligula (that's what I call him) should shine again when his linemates get more consistent. Grimaldi has the ability to completely dominate in the offensive zone. He has the skill to set up linemates like Ricky Rubio. I think the system should focus on him setting up linemates more than shooting and I think that has been happening the last few games. The problem is when he puts the puck on the tape of their stick they need to put the puck in the net. As far as the defensemen go, Schmaltz is the best offensive defensemen we have had since Chorney, no offense Genoway. Mattson has started to really shine since he has(or has been allowed?) to skate with the puck. Stecher has taken a little of the sting out of not having a guy like big MAC or Blood. Simpson is doing some pretty darn good things too-Good shot, good poise but I would like to see him go to the next level... I have a healthy respect for Hak's style of coaching, although I do feel he favors the defensive/accountability element of the game over offensive prowess sometimes to an extreme. Having said that in many ways, when you consider the talent and skill set of our defensemen, the reality of the situation is this year's team is set up to have success playing within his system. I think we all saw a glimpse of that on Sat night. I thought the Sioux were dominant. Excellent decision making with the puck. Very few screw-ups that lost possession both in transition and in the zone. Tape to tape passing all night long. One element I would like to see added is some drop back passes to the trailer after we enter the zone on breaks. We tend to shoot and hope for a rebound a little (maybe way) to much. A bit to much focus on "greasy goals". If I was Haks coach I would tell him to lose that phrase. Moving a goalie out of position is a much better option. Leave the greasy goal concept to the rebounds that come from blue liners shots. On the break use your speed to get the goalie out of position or screened. Then maybe the score/shot ratio will be better than 5%...
  3. I was wondering more about how the games look on Midco that Midco produces, ie Sioux home games? The NESN DirectTV feed was amazing and I'm curious if Midco gives its viewers a comparable product when it does home games?
  4. Goon, I'm very curious, how did the HD quality of the NESN direct tv broadcast compare to the HD that Midco is providing for home Sioux games with their "new" HD technology? I have only seen the Midco broadcasts through the computer feed. I did watch the NESN broadcast on Direct TV last night and was amazed at the quality of the HD picture. Not bad TV coverage for a program which draws 4,000 to home games.
  5. That would be awesome!! It would be the first positive change that I've heard in the landscape of college hockey in quite some time..
  6. Actually I would like to see a lot more chips of the glass than they have been doing so far this season. Granted I am probably talking about a different kind of "chip of the glass" than the kind your are talking about here. None the less, I just wanted to mention it The 2011 team made a living off the little bank-shot passes through the neutral zone and into the zone. I would really like to see more of that this year.
  7. I flew in from Denver this morning. I saw four people on the plane wearing Sioux gear.
  8. Hey I firmly believe in having a respect for a person in changing the way they see something. Glad to hear it coach! Never the less, I sure am glad he is not the my teams coach.
  9. I don't have cable anymore so I am hindered by my inability to check my tv menu but isn't FCS actually three different 'regional' fox college sports channels? Atlantic and Central pop in my head but I cannot remember?? I do recall that direct tv showed the games on 617 or 623 and that they were alternate channels, ie exta feeds. But I think that was unique to direct tv. I recall being at a friends in the Springs and they got the games on their cable on ONE of the FCS regional channels? Not sure though..
  10. The thing I cannot figure out is why FCS is staying with UND sports sans having the hockey games? Clearly the hockey games were the big draw for them.
  11. Fair enough. Time will tell. Maybe we will get lucky and CBS Sports TV will announce it is willing to allow "rebroadcast" of regional coverage on national stations just as long as it is not being shown in a time slot which coincides with their broadcast. Wouldn't that be nice? For the life of me I cannot imagine an executive at CBS Sports having any problem with that if he/she was directly asked it. Thinking about it makes me want to find out who the person is in charge and give them a call myself. But knowing Faison is they did get permission to let FCS rebroadcast (carry) some games, he would decline anyway and say it was in the best interest of the future ability of the tennis program to host home playoffs. <---JOKE... Until then I have to go figure out how the hell I am going to convert my HDMI out on my laptop to an S-Video input on my DVD-recorder so I can watch the game later tonight since I cannot count on the replay being uploaded onto UND Sports Insider tonight (actually probably wont even be available on replay since it is a Miami feed). ugg!@
  12. I think there is a good chance you are on the money with this. But to me this administration has done the wrong thing in matters of grave consequence more than one time and further if what you say is the case then the admisistration should fess up to their error. But instead they act as if all they do is the best and anyone who disagrees with them just doesn't get the real truth of things.
  13. I suppose that is the best I'm going to get. Bottom line is that it is a no brainer that having other games on national TV is going to be good for everyone and the fact that is was disallowed in the contract is a failure on all of those who agreed to the deal. Don't make me ask if you agree that something like this is appropriate to debate on a forum? I'm to tired to pin you down on this one. AND don't say it has already been vetted out on the forums so it's old news. The negative effects of the horrendous contract are only now having their detrimental effect. ie season of change has only just begun. So this is an absolutely appropriate time to be having this discussion. Many people are just becoming aware of what has been lost now. I specifically waited until now to voice my distain for what has been done/undone. I am not complaining, I am attempting to do my part to effectuate changes in the administration at UND which I feel should be made. Just doin my part..
  14. When I said high demand games, I was meaning relatively. I think it is actually a mute point because between ESPN II and ESPNU and ESPN internet I think pretty much every game is covered. It is simply not an apples to apples argument.
  15. Youch that was goth. That was a weak goal!
  16. Saunders is not the ticket. Apparent last year and this year. Mitch and Saunders. Mystery men.
  17. NCAA Tourney is another bad example. Would ESPN skip an entire day of the tournament and not show high demand games? No way!. Oh and if they did they would lose the contract in a New York minute.. The NCAA tournament is the climax of a season full of building fan base and ESPN shows every game they think the viewership numbers that warrant a demand for it. Is CBS Sports showing the biggest games with respect to viewership? ie are they all-in to their coverage like ESPN is in the tourney? No. They are skipping dozens of high demand games. In fact they are so damn uninvested in the "comprehensive" coverage which could garner an increase in interest/viewership they are not even covering two game series?? And anyone who knows a lick about college hockey knows that the Friday game is most often a build up to the Sat game.
  18. Sure if having about a .05% understanding of media allows for such a game and a set and the match. That makes SO MUCH sense.
  19. I knew you would say that. You always go this way with debates. It is as if you are the "press secretary" for UND. Your answers are perfectly aligned with one who is. Imagine if someone asked Jay Carney or Condalisa Rice(to avoid political sidebars) what he/she though about a position the president was taking on an issue. The answer is they wouldn't. If they did they would in all likelihood get fired. Will you get fired if you answer the question? I'll ask you one more time: Question; Does national exposure of NCHC games outside of CBS Sports TV(specifically games which are played/broadcast on days in which CBS Sports TV is NOT broadcasting a game) have an overall benefit, detriment, or no affect to viewership of NCHC games on CBS Sports TV? What do YOU think?? BTW it is quite common for one to voice what they think on a forum page such as this one.. also, (and please don't let your desire to argue this point distract you from answering the question above) every tax paying citizen of North Dakota is a "parties to the contract" UND is a PUBLIC institution.
  20. The only thing we need to understand about the media is they benefit from more following and more exposure gets more following. All of your examples of media contracts are invalid on the axis of time slot relevance. Give me an example where an exclusivity contract restricts covering a league or event on a day that the broadcaster is not covering said league/game/event? Come'on 82 your smarter than these poor attempts at dismissing a point which is frankly pointless to argue.. How bout we boil it down to this question; Does national exposure of NCHC games outside of CBS Sports TV(specifically games which are played/broadcast on days in which CBS Sports TV is NOT broadcasting a game) have an overall benefit, detriment, or no affect to viewership of NCHC games on CBS Sports TV? What do YOU think??
  21. Somebody needs to call them up and explain to them that they have no business with all those broadcasting mediums cause they aint no NFL.
  22. There is not hate, just a determined mix of frustration and pragmatics... Let's put the debate of Faison's role and responsibility on the table for a min and focus on the exclusivity shall we? The size of the NCHC vs the NHL has zero relevance to the point of exposure. The NFL would not be the NFL if one game a week was on nation tv. Think of it as social physics, the more exposure a sport has the more popularity it will garner. So there is never a scenario where any interested party benefits from restricting exposure and this includes a broadcaster when the broadcaster is not broadcasting, especially when your talking about on a different day. Isn't that self evident? Do you disagree with this?
