What does happen if we get stuck with a name that "sucks"? Simple, you cheer on North Dakota to victory and be proud of the school. If not there is always that school 80 miles south of Grand Forks to cheer for.

Just to play devil's advocate... They announce the nickname will be SunDogs. Then what? Fans stop being UND fans? Fans jump on the Bison bandwagon? I really don't care what the nickname is at this point. I am sick of just being UND, sick of being asked for people out of the loop what the name is going to be, when are they getting a new name. Just name the school and lets move on. If its the UND Fighting Sun Dogs, then go Dawgs. (see what I did there, ex. Georgia). Whatever the name is going to be........it will always, always be THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA!!!!! Its been that way since 1883 and will continue to be that until they shut the school down.

UND's lease is up February 2019. We have til the end of the decade to call the Alerus home unless a contract is renewed.

Funny how every school on the list that had to change their name got a replacement except two..Alcorn State (still on the naughty list) and UND. It shouldn't take 2 years, 5 years or even a month to pick a name. Everyone knows it won't be as good as Fighting Sioux but in 20 years people can still remember it, wear it or yell it at games...like at GFC, Dartmouth, Marquette, etc.

Sound sucks, the scoreboard are nice but fix the stuff on it. Have out of town scores updated more frequently. Have live stats. Would be nice to have cupholders, but I suppose that would take away from seating since the aisles are very slim as it is. Biggest thing to get people in the building...WIN!!

What is the biggest crowd to see a baseball game? 900? 1000? I haven't been to a ball game in GF since the GF Varmints in 1996.

6-5 in 08 and 3-8 in 09 sure didn't spell out NC right away even among Bison fans or else they wouldn't have created a Fire Bohl thread on Bisonswille.

How about Minnesota hockey compared to Minnesota football or basketball? Same at Wisconsin. You can have multiple successful sports at one school. UND did that in 1997 with 2 sports winning a NC, and in 2001 where football win a NC and the hockey team lost to BC in the NC game. it shouldn't be UND hockey vs UND football/basketball it should be UND vs (name of opponent).

People at Dartmouth still wear Indians gear, and people wear Warrior gear at Marquette. It won't happen. Some people have too much time on their hands and need to get a life.

What I'm seeing in that piece of history is how ones dynasty can fall into the hand of their rival in a matter of years not decades.

Or NDSU won a ton of NC's in the 80's and in 1990, but by the end of the decade was chasing UND for NCC titles as they remained without a home playoff game from 1994-1999. In 10 years NDSU dominated 3 years of that decade then the slide began and the coaches were getting fired.

Why do people need to put down the FCS? UND is in the FCS, and if they win a NC in football I would not belittle that.

I am sure the FCS teams thought that in 2009 with 3-8 NDSU in the cellar.

In a way that is true, it's not NDSU that made UND suck it was getting blown out week after week during the Muss era. Bubba may have a little more pressure now to get this team going and an upset win at either Wyoming or NDSU or both may swing that pendulum in a total 180 direction back towards Grand Forks. It takes a big win, that signature win to get fans back and restore UND football history the way it was prior to 2008. 238 days until Craig Bohl feels the rath of UND football again.

At least 8 teams make the tournament with the addition of Idaho, instead of 7, I wonder if there are 2 first round byes.
