  1. I go to the potato bowl every year. And I do attend hockey and basketball games as well. You deserve a label but it will get censored.
  2. Non-UND FCS thread in the football forum has this subject. Maybe it can be moved here or vice versa.
  3. Is there any teams on tap to join the SB in the future? By getting rid of dead weight (UI and NMSU) that's more bowl money for the other teams, and less traveling too.
  4. I wonder if those students will boo at the Alerus this fall or will it just die out as the Hawks name starts to grow. Also are people going to start singing "land of the free and home of the HAWKS"? I have noticed home of the Sioux have really died down. I do admit I said it at the Potato Bowl game but only because we didn't have a nickname.
  5. I'm sorry I didn't know you asked the 12k people who was booing and who wasn't and if they are a student.
  6. It's in the football forum
  7. I like the logo on the helmet. I hope SME creates a good logo.
  8. Vandal fans become Boise St Broncos fans.
  9. This weekend Scheels Arena is hosting a Fargo Force game, then basketball regionals. Too many events are attracted to the main arenas of the big cities. It takes a lot to plan everything that comes up this time of year with hockey, basketball, wrestling, Fargo Force, UND hockey, and special circumstances that come up like a funeral last Monday. Would it be easier to include Minot and Bismarck in the rotation of the hockey tournament? Could Purpur Arena be used during the tournament?
  10. There is always a push to bring back the name, everytime they bring Sioux gear into circulation it gets people's hopes up that it will return, prior to the Fighting Hawks name people wanted to have no nickname to further cheer for the Sioux and wear Sioux gear so much that the NCAA had to respond about having "no nickname at all". There was a push by Al Carlson and backed by many to have a state law requiring UND to be the Fighting Sioux. This thing has gone on too long, the Fighting Hawk (when the logo is chosen) will be all over UND, Grand Forks, ND, and beyond. People will embrace it, and people won't. But isn't it in bad taste to yell "Go Fighting Hawks" only to have people stare. I commented on a REA FB page with that comment, only to have people come back with " don't say that". Its very sad that this fanbase is still so divided on this issue that should have died in 2010. Boy that cooling off period messed things up, as we would've been with a new name for 6 years now.
  11. Then, why are the people most vocal about the Sioux name coming back, the booing at the REA are hockey fans? They are a majority voice against the new nickname and the push to return to the Sioux name. The name isn't coming back, we are the Fighting Hawks until the NCAA removes their policy, or UND leaves the NCAA, so might as well start to accept the new name. You do realize a Fighting Hawk logo will appear in the REA, the Betty, the Alerus, and all other UND buildings. UND does gain control the the Betty and REA in 14 years. (Sept 30, 2030) For charitable tax reasons -- to prove the property valuable -- Engelstad's lease agreement with UND, however, state's he can own the facility until Sept. 30, 2030. http://und-fraud.com/UND/Campus/Arena/engelstad_arena.htm
  12. All? I like how you added that word not me.
  13. I still to this day hate Fargo South because of 1994.
  14. And for those wearing the badge like yourself, thanks for protecting and serving us.
  15. Hockey never had NCAA playoffs at home except for regionals. The conference playoffs were at home, then after that was the conference finals (usually in Minneapolis) so the Sioux name wouldn't affect that. Actually UND basketball can host tournament games (outside of the dance) as there are 3 other NCAA tournaments that end the season (which wouldn't be possible with the Sioux name). But the name is gone, we are complying with the NCAA, and maybe UND can even host another regional at the Ralph.
  16. Not sure but a lot of people are NDSU football/basketball fans and UND hockey only fans.
  17. Some of the hockey only fans are NDSU fans, so no they wouldn't cheer for UND in any sport except hockey.
  18. It is a shame, I love all the programs at UND, but I wouldn't jeopardize any of them by retaining a nickname that is on the NCAA's naughty list like some people of a particular sport.
  19. So the hockey crowd's passion is to boo the school nickname whom their team is playing for? If that's passion I don't want any of it. I am supporting UND and whatever nickname they have.
  20. You don't hear booing except at hockey games, and it was noticeable enough for the media to cover it. The main crowd behind Al Carlson's state law and to keep the name at all costs was the hockey only crowd because UND wasn't hosting an NCAA hockey playoff game only a conference playoff game. The real losers of that sanction was surprise surprise football and basketball, whose crowd has pretty much moved on while the hockey only crowd hasn't.
  21. Only because they had a building built with a thousand Sioux logos and had a giant Sioux logo on their jersey, or else the football team wore a Sioux logo on their jersey, had Sioux in the endzones and had a couple Sioux logos at Memorial Stadium, the basketball teams has Sioux on their court to this day, they did have Sioux on their jerseys but yet all those sports got over losing the name and fans of those sports starting embracing the new name, except hockey because it's the hockey only crowd that still wants Sioux back at all costs, it's the hockey only crowd you hear booing the new name over the PA, so don't blame us for calling a duck a duck.
  22. You don't have to support the new name, but don't be a jackass by booing it is the point. Go ahead and cheer go Sioux all you wish....some choose to cheer go Hawks.
