  1. Why didn't minor league baseball work for the Grand Forks Varmints? Was it the city or the league? I loved seeing them in 1996 in their innagural season. Now with UND losing baseball Kraft Field will be pretty empty unless it's used by the park board. Would be a nice rivalry with the FM RedHawks and Winnipeg if they can get in the same league as them.
  2. If the Big Sky moves up wouldn't other upper conferences move or merge like have a BSC/MVFC FBS conference then have a couple other conferences on the east coast merge. Or does the presence of Idaho and NMSU enter the equation.
  3. Watching #1 Notre Dame play #13 North Carolina (upset win by the Tar Heels) and I would love UND to take up lacrosse, to bad with budget cuts it looks impossible.
  4. UND won a NC in football in 2001 and at the same time the reigning NC UND was playing for their 2nd title in a row only to come up short against Boston College. So we can have hockey and football NC at the same school therefore cutting football is just stupid. Nice try Bison guy.
  5. You are right how about cut all athletics at NDSU and turn that into a 2 year school and have everything at UND you know like it was from 1883-1889. It would be good for the state.
  6. But how about basketball and volleyball travels, we can't be saving much money when we take trips all over the west 26 times a year, not including football. NDSU, SDSU, USD, and Omaha is a quick trip compared to the expense just to get to Greeley.
  7. It goes back to the ultimate debate....Big Sky vs Summit League.
  8. This was in Siouan's post:
  9. And I'm just stating UND won't drop football and about going FBS we laugh at your fans who think the Bison should go, your fans laugh that we should go. It's a rivalry and at one point we will both go FBS. When we go FBS is the question, and this budget crisis set by the state throws a wrench into things, but it's all a wait and see.
  10. UND didn't build a million dollar plus IPF just for track and softball if getting rid of football is going to be an option. As bad as things get people will support football, and as for the idea going FBS, it's not as crazy as any other Dakota team going.
  11. Big money maker, nothing to see here--NCAA
  12. No I haven't. but I threw out an idea which anyone can do...have you? Always easy to criticize when your idea isn't heard.
  13. Ok, then let's hear your idea.
  14. And you have brought nothing to the conversation like a troll. Still waiting for your ideas. Crickets are getting pretty loud.
  15. I am saying charge less for people to stand there and maybe more people will pay for better seats. It's frustrating to see empty seats in the 40 and yet people had to buy seats at the 10 or 15 or is it over your head. I could draw you a picture if it helps.
  16. http://www.undsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=13500&SPID=6393&SPSID=58598 Men's golf is all over the place from Louisiana to NC, to Arkansas to Calif and in between, travel is bad, so is baseball being in the WAC, but also so is all our teams in the Big Sky compared to closer teams in the Summit League/MVFC. Should we beg Douple and Patty V to let us join because travel would be less? There has to be ways to cut without axing sports programs. But at least it was the least important sports (at least golf was).
  17. Like I said I am just throwing stuff out there, and you can rename SRO to endzone seating. How much travel costs and etc etc is UND saving by cutting golf, really golf? If you want to balance a budget make a dent not a tiny scratch. BF did cut the wrong programs, maybe Title IX hurts his options but he didn't make a dent by cutting 2 small programs.
  18. Do you see how many people stand on those walkways during a game if those tickets were 5 bucks it will sell more then the price of a regular seat ticket. How is killing programs that have very little scholarships going to save a school lots of money. I am thinking of ways to help the budget not solve it 100%, so let's hear your idea.
  19. It is but it says a lot of our athletics if you take out hockey. Football is rebounding nicely but some hiccups in basketball and volleyball. I take it we must suck in softball, tennis, track, and soccer to get a score like that.
  20. First I never said it would balance it I said it would help, and charging 8 bucks for dippin dots and SRO tickets would generate more money along with jacking up the price of beer cause some people can't go a game without beer and would pay more for it. Tack on merchandise sales for a new logo (if not poorly designed) and again you get more money. Now let's discuss your option to balance the budget and generate money, without axing jobs, departments and sports. crickets still cherping Texas rancher

  22. Adding more money that way instead of cutting 2 programs, music and other stuff is more fan friendly, but of course your idea is better... (hearing crickets).

    2016 Season

Just a nice way to kickoff our first home game of the season vs USD...the Potato Bowl Parade is slated to take the same route as last year down University Ave towards the campus. My kids loved that route compared to downtown and with early buzz it should be a huge hit along with a lot of people at the Alerus for the game. I can't wait to get this season started!!
  24. I hope so, it would be great to have 2 teams in the dance, football in the playoffs and hockey in the playoffs, add volleyball to the playoffs and you have a huge amount of buzz that would be great for any UND fan out there. 1997-2003 was a time for championships in 3 sports not to mention conference dominations over rivals both in-state and in neighboring states. I hope we can get up to that level again...or close to it. Let's be the talk of ND in all sports not just hockey.
  25. Maybe a little further into the future, how about what happened to UND football after the 2000 hockey NC, 2 out of 3 years playing for a NC.
