  1. I love this pattern you guys have over here. Backhanded insult to a decade long career, I state the obvious that everybody knows but are unwilling to admit anything a Bison player has done is impressive and it's met with...cool story bro. Don't take backhanded, unnecessary shots and there won't be any reason for anyone to say anything. Coolio?
  2. A decade long career in the NFL is definitely something to beat your chest about, regardless of what the stats show.
  3. For the record, a lot of Bison fans have come to feel the exact same way about bisonville that you do. There are about 20 people who all know each other in the "real world" who have dominated that board for the last 5 years and any opinion outside of their little circle jerk is mocked and ridiculed. That board is full of tired old jokes and "overconfident" insecure people. I only visit that site to keep up on recruiting.
  4. I actually would agree with you, the Maris situation is enormous and is likely in first place with a bullet. That event happened 20+ years before I was born so it didn't immediately come to mind.
  5. That works for me. Listen, the spirit of my post wasn't to create this argument over if it is or isn't the biggest thing to happen. My original post was in response to someone not really happy about Carson getting all the attention at the proday, which in my opinion, is warranted. It is a big deal to maybe be the first quarterback taken in the draft, especially coming from a school that isn't part of the P5 or G5. I'm sure there are many events that trump Carson and all the hype he is getting, but like I said, the fact that we have to go back 50-100 years to make comparisons says quite a bit in my opinion.
  6. lol, I hadn't posted on this topic in days and show up here to this s-storm that one small comment created. The fact that people have to go back to 1961 and 1930 something to find another event to compare to the media hype over Wentz right now sort of bolsters my argument, does it not?
  7. I didn't say this was the biggest accomplishment in North Dakota sports history, I said it's the biggest moment as far as buzz and people talking about sports in the state. Maybe you'll see that as splitting hairs, but that is what I meant. I agree that he hasn't accomplished anything near Maris or Phil Jackson, that has yet to be seen and would be disrespectful to call what Carson has done the greatest accomplishment. That isn't what I meant.
  8. Arguably Phil's career obviously is enormous, but which moment, of Phil's career trumps the media story that a kid from ND being possibly a top 10 pick in the draft? Either way, my point was to say that the media hype around him right now is warranted. It isn't surprising that nobody else from yesterday's pro-day received much attention. He's possibly the best prospect, at the most important position, in the country's most celebrated sport, coming from relative obscurity. It's a huge story.
  9. You must have missed the part where I said arguably. Most would say this is a bigger story I think. Phil doesn't really even claim ND as home in the interviews I've seen.
  10. Would you expect it to be handled differently? This is arguably the biggest story in the history of ND sports.
  11. I can see that you're working very hard to be argumentative by picking out the one word that makes me slightly wrong. This isn't a workplace setting, you can throw fair out the window. This is football, unusual motivation tactics have been a mainstay in this sport since it's inception. I can only speak from my experience and Mr. Fruend is from the same era of football I am, he and I agree that this was a proper punishment and I applaud his tactics, let's see how it plays out for him.
  12. For smoking weed, probably true, but there are lesser offenses than smoking weed that wouldn't warrant a bad conduct discharge correct?
  13. Nobody asked my opinion, but I'll give it anyway :). I actually think this was a great move by the coaching staff, having the people you care about(teammates in your position group, who in my experience can be closer than brothers at times) suffer as a result of your misstep is hugely impactful for a young man. This is a common punishment in the military and I believe it applies very well in a college football setting too. It displays the attitude that "we are all in this together and your screw up affects many more people than just you". Having the offenders not participate is a genius move IMO because the guilt they feel from watching their brothers suffer shows them how selfish their actions were. I personally love the move.
  14. Although I understand your point, it's a bit far-fetched to say it is unethical for police to enforce the laws on the books. Changing the law is another conversation altogether, but the police's job is to enforce the laws, they don't get to cherry pick which ones. If they were to cherry pick based on personal beliefs, I would then consider that to be unethical.
  15. You would have to think ease of travel plays a role in where a larger pro day would take place. Unless UND ends up with a wentz type pro prospect that scouts are clamoring to travel to GF to see, probably makes more sense for them to just have it in Fargo.

    2016 Season

As has been pointed out by others, Santiago wasn't the same player at the beginning of the season compared to the end. Secondly, the offensive line was getting pushed 3-4 yards into the backfield on nearly every play. UND could have had anyone they wanted play running back that day and probably would have had very little success. The further that game gets in the past it seems the more UND fans forget how big of a drubbing took place in the fargodome that day. If I recall the stats correctly I believe that was close to the worst offensive performance ndsu had ever played against.

You're welcome, think I'll stick around for a while. It seems to brighten your day.

What's your point? This is the internet age spoons, It takes literally 2 seconds for me to click to another tab on my internet browser. Not like I have to go out of my way to make my daily internet rounds. Care to elaborate on how Santiago would have impacted the outcome on that day if he had more carries?

    2016 Season

I find it interesting that someone who responded to my post 5 minutes after I posted it is questioning my constant monitoring of the board("But it's a UND board and you're an NDSU fan") "Would have been a different game if Santiago got more carries" This quote implies the outcome would have been somehow closer if he had more carries. We'll agree to disagree about Santiago's ability to impact the game that day.

  23. The arrogance of football fans at times never ceases to amaze. People who do this for a living are impressed with Carson, but you haven't seen enough yet? And before you say scouting is an inexact science, they are right a hell of a lot more often than some two-bit arm chair quarterback on a message board.
  24. Thanks, I figured there was someone, but nobody immediately came to mind.
  25. It's hard to separate a player from the success they've had. Would Cam Newton be the likely MVP if his team wasn't 15-1 in the regular season? Impossible question to answer.
