  1. Tickets are sold. That's what the NCAA cares about.
  2. http://www.nchchockey.com/tie-breakers Looks like UND should be ranked ahead of UNO based on head-to-head. Edit: Just confirmed with the NCHC that UND has the tiebreaker. The issue with the NCHC website is that it can't compute head-to-head so at this point, it sorts first by Points and second by winning percentage.
  3. Neither of your links work.
  4. Can't have a small "D."
  5. Like UND's streak of not winning the national title until they just had to go out and break that one last year!
  6. Don't confuse MafiaMan with these types of details. He hasn't figured out how to google things yet
  7. Doesn't seem like too many players were upset at the ice conditions last year: Pioneers coach Jim Montgomery said after his team’s practice Thursday that the ice was the best in the three-year history of the tournament. His senior captain Grant Arnold also was a fan of the ice this year.
  8. A situation similar to last year's Frozen Faceoff wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Even with a couple of losses, DU is nearly locked into the overall number one spot. IF they find themselves in the third place game against UND, I'd imagine the Pioneers will again use it as a chance to rest a bunch of guys. That could be huge for a UND team that would likely need a win in that game.
  9. But the NCHC budget will be fine with it. If this happened in the 1st or second year of the Frozen Faceoff, it would have been horrible. Not so much this year. If UND can pull out home ice in the first round, the impact will be pretty minimal.
  10. Fortunately, the NCHC has planned for just such a case. They'll take a hit on their savings but it won't be as bad as people think. Also fortunately for the NCHC, they have presold about 6,000 seats for the tournament. So even if UND doesn't make it, the announced attendance will be fine. If it's another UMD/SCSU final then those two fanbases will bring about 1,500 people total for the final.
  11. The guy that was standing behind him wide open wasn't his responsibility?
  12. Peski didn't lock up his guy.
  13. In the B10, any team from Minnesota and Michigan.
  14. Has anyone other than you said this? Fantastic strawman argument. Welcome to earlier today when I said this exact same thing. You probably missed it during your childish rant about the same thing over and over. How well did Muss do in the Big Sky? You're so keen on comparing Jones and Muss, especially during Jones' best year where he is on the verge of winning a Big Sky Conference Championship. Had Muss finished in the top 3 in the BSC in his first two years, he damn right would have earned an extension even if his OOC record was 1-2 or 1-3. Again, NOBODY EXCEPT FOR YOU is saying anything about more money making a Jones team more successful. Why shouldn't sports be looked at differently? If UND looked at basketball the same way they look at hockey then basketball coaches would last maybe three years at UND. It's a different animal, with different facilities, different level of opponents on a weekly basis and thus different expectations. Now, allow me to preemptively stop you from going off on a tangent about basketball being so unsuccessful because of low expectations compared to hockey.
  15. I don't know about D1 basketball, but as of 2013 he was the lowest in the Big Sky and the only one not making more than $100,000. By that time, his teams had already finished 3rd and 2nd in the conference. Hoops44's point, that you continuously gloss over, is that UND's return for investment has been very high. Especially when you compare it to other coaches across the NCAA and Big Sky.
  16. There you go again, not actually reading anything that is written and just spouting off the same repetitive stuff. I had a nice analogy comparing you to a small child but I thought that was inappropriate, despite how accurate it may be.
  17. Actually, I don't think he has said that. At least not in the last few posts about Jones' salary. What I believe he is saying is that traditionally you would expect someone making that little of money to have a team near the bottom in wins at D1, especially in conference play. However, Jones has had UND in the top half 3 of his 4 years prior to this year. So in turn, UND has probably gotten a better return on investment than most schools paying that little would. Should Jones be paid a little more than he currently makes? Probably based on the results however in the past both Jones and UND have instead agreed to more years instead of more money.
  18. FSN and UMD were supposed to supply some crew members for the production from FSO but couldn't get enough people together to do the broadcast, so it got scrapped.
  19. I'm wishing I could make it to the game tomorrow but I'll be stuck at work in the Springs. Good luck to UND!
  20. I'm assuming Jones gets all the credit for the better free-throw shooting? I mean, it has on him when they were missing them because they "didn't practice them enough."
  21. Yes, the conference gets more money when UND hosts in the 1st round of the playoffs and makes the Frozen Faceoff. That money from those two rounds of playoffs are what funds the NCHC for the entire year. The payouts from the tournament are minimal, just like they were for the Final 5. The conference keeps that money because they have to stay in business. The TV deal is no different than the one the NCHC has with CBSSN except that the B10 gets funding from the B10 Network. If UND is included in that funding, I would say think about it. However, at this point UND needs to think about long-term future (security) not just what is good right now ($$$). How many more B10 teams can add hockey before UND is voted out? What happens then, after UND pissed away relationships with the five schools they've had relationships with in the WCHA and NCHC?
  22. UND already has a deal with Midco for 2nd tier in which CBSSN has dibs at 1st tier. If CBSSN wanted to, they could do every UND game and leave Midco high and dry. Midco has shown they don't want a significant number of their hockey games on FCS for a variety of reasons. That won't change once the B10 comes calling and wants to take away even more games.
  23. So this article by Tom Miller from November 5th about UND working on a deal with the Summit/MVFC doesn't count?
  24. And realize in this situation, we're talking about spending $99 per ticket for non-CC members who also have to pay for travel and hotel in Vegas. $135 shouldn't break the bank for someone who is willing to shell out all the other money involved in this single game.
  25. Why? CC members have earned the right to first access to tickets. If you want that first right, join CC.
