I hope Fighting Sioux fans don't give up
Oxbow6 replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in UND Nickname
You have accused a few on this site of being racist and discriminatory. Do you own a mirror? BTW, do you treat your "white" patients differently??? -
Faison has one foot in his own grave and the 2nd foot is on a banana peel. If he doesn't get a thumbs up from the Summit this summer, watch out!
-
Sounds like Commish D-bag is grandstanding to put it mildly. Or is he now racist because he wants to keep SR in check? IF SR votes and IF the nickname is returned and kept in place by the guidelines set forth by the NC$$, Commish D-dag better keep his hole shut! Who does this clown think he is?? It's the Summit for goodness sake. 90% of college sports fans couldn't name 3 teams in the Summit.
-
Yes it is...to both.
-
So yesterday we had our state's AG blaming the SBoHE and we had the president of the SBoHE blaming the SR tribe. If you have some personal involvement in this issue, like those previously mentioned, your bus ride just keeps getting bumpier every day!! But that silence you still hear...that's coming from our school's Pres and AD!
-
Like I said, I wasn't there. Misinformation...probably? Not like that's ever happened on this site before.

So the Fargo Forum this morning basically has Shaft throwing the 2 Sioux tribes under the bus for this mess?!?! His quote, "...because the efforts we made with the tribes have been exhausted." And "the board has always been committed to hearing from Standing Rock". So here is what we have, a total tool in Shaft who has thrown Faison and Kelley under the bus on this issue (and in part for good reason) and now the Sioux tribes, specifically SR. Leadership in a vacuum is not leadership. I have not heard Shaft or anyone else from the SBoHE give an ACCOUNTABLE reason for their actions on this issue. It's been pointing the finger at someone else from the get-go. Passing the buck to cover your own a**...typical in today's society. This is setting up to get real ugly. SR will have a vote, the vote will be overwhelmingly in support of the nickname, then everyone get your popcorn and getting ready to watch the show as it's going to get interesting. I'm not saying the nickname is coming back, but this is far from over IMO. Bottom line, the tribal governments need to given written approval in support and there needs be a long-term binding agreement to keep the nickname. I don't see that happening, but there will be some fireworks yet to come. Also, I wasn't able to attend the Sioux booster luncheon in Fargo yesterday, but a buddy said it was quite heated and that Faison didn't seem to be having a great time!

Looks like SIOUXPR is building quite the fan club!?
-
Exactly...probably on the lines of UND "Playful Manatees"! In Fargo, UND gear is flying off the racks. People are stocking up!
-
Rough Riders is the best option IMO. Sounds like you'd be in favor of "Turtles"! And you are accusing Teddy of socialism...have you been in a coma the last year+!!!
-
This university is still a proud institution that respresents the entire state and it's history. With what has transpired, UND still needs to honor it's ND hertitage and legacy...Rough Riders is my first choice. If the NAs feel dishonored by the Sioux name, then give the new nickname to a group of people who truly helped forge this state from the beginning. Teddy R would approve and I would too.

April 6th, 2010 - Standing Rock Council Decision

So your take on this issue is "golden"? Give me a frickin' break! Your woody for the Summit League overshadows any other reasoning or logic in this whole ordeal...sad! -

So the ND Supreme Court deems the voice of this state's NAs "unnecessary" and "without merit"? Another proud day for Leigh Jeanotte and his ilk in advancing the rights and voice of his own people! -

Honestly, I'm still waiting for Fasion to do something pro-UND. He, along with Kelley, is anti-nickname (I don't think that's a stretch) and he wants it his way with the NDSU/UND FB game/rivalry and is shooting himself in the foot on that issue as well. He's like a politician acting on his own or following party lines regardless of their constituent's thoughts (insert any of our 3 ND congressmen here). -

I hope that was said tongue in cheek!? After being led around like a collared dog by Whiskey Joe, I wouldn't say that "leadership" is a trait of the SBoHE!! -

I'm in total agreement with your analysis on this. -

Nice...I'm sure it was just an extra reason for you to get the Blatz flowing at sunrise again today! -
Didn't know I was "making meaningless sounds suggestive of chatter" (I asume you know that's what prattling means) by respondong to another ridiculous post. MplsBison fan? I'd advise you to stop taking shots while you have the chance...I've read a number, too many to count, of your "prattling" posts in the past!!
-
So are you implying that the $$$ each school in the Summit receives from the NCAA MBB tourney on a yearly basis could be a bigger financial gain than the sales of the UND current nickname/logo on a yearly basis?? Ridiculous!
-
So your son is...Joe Mauer! Looks like him in that pic.
-
Hypothetically, you put Fienhage next to Marto for the whole year and I'd say he comes out looking as good as LaPoint. Not a knock on LaPoint, but Marto made him look better than his skill set.
-
I get what you want! But to a vast majority of UND fans/alumni and boosters like myself...I want UND to get a fair shake in the nickname process. Period! The Summit, as I said before, is not the crown jewel for this university and the athletic dept. as you make it out to be. IMO the potential retention of the nickname/logo, if given a fair process under the timeline laid out by the NC$$, is a much bigger potential gain overall in the long term than cutting it loose for the sake of gaining enterance into the Summit. I know we'll disagree on this, but from purely a long term financial, PR, marketing, ect...the nickname retention will have much bigger benefits that racing over to the Summit.
-
Right now and in the foreseeable future UND hockey and football drive the athletic dept.'s engine...from an attendance standpoint and more importantly from a revenue/financial standpoint. Not "throwing away" schedules from the other sports wouldn't change the revenue already generated so why not hang in there on the nickname issue? IMO, UND has more to gain overall by keeping the nickname vs. dumping it just to get into the Summit a year or two sooner.

Just read over the noon hour, Obama wants more offshore drilling. Says it will create jobs and enhance nation's security. How old are you, MplsBison??? "Give it 20 years."
