Not disagreeing with anything you posted above but this big picture analysis of yours currently has no direct impact on UND FB...or MBB. Why? Because both sports are "extremely unpopular" with a lot of UND fans and supporters right now as is evident by poor attendence over the past few years. Put winners on the field and court, beat a FBS team in FB or a big time program in MBB and some of these issues will change...and change quickly. If UND beats NDSU next September, any guess what that will do for the attendence of the next UND home game? Hockey might be unpopular in America but it isn't in ND, MN or at UND.

I would like to see Simonson more this weekend...he IMO definitely brings more energy and hardwork to the ice than LJ does right now. I like his game.

So where is your argument? He got a hat trick one night removed from playing on top line. He plays better where he played Saturday. For him and the team I glad he has played more towards his potential this season compared to his first 3 seasons. Anyone who watches him play can see he excels more in a bottom 6 role. And Hak does pair forward lines based on matchups and that 4th line Saturday IIRC wasn't on the ice with UMDs top line more than a shift...maybe 2...that's why at the Ralph he gets last change. If OD can get this team points consistently in a lower 6 role UND is going to be tough to beat.......that was my point.

Unfortunately I think you probably nailed at least 3...possibly 4...of the final five. I would sincerely hope Sundogs is isn't truly in the conversation.

Again as I previously stated...this team doesn't have 6 top 6 forwards. Have to play 2 guys in that top 6 role that probably aren't true top 6 guys. As for some guys they are just better fits and excel more in a bottom 6 role. From watching and statically OD is one of those guys. And nowhere did I state that about the Gaarder line...that every time out they were matched against UMDs 4th line Saturday and that's why they had success.

UMD made a change with the HC of its women's program.....which in part was financial.

OSU has 2 TOs in Ducks territory but are up 21-7. How good of a coach is Urban Saban!!

I like NS and Drake together...and I think Chyzyk fits on that line. Have to find a consistent wing to play w Mac and Parks. Would love to see OD seize that spot but he looked out of place there Friday and much more comfortable on the 4th line Saturday but maybe against Niagara he gets another shot.

Which goes back to what someone post a couple days ago.....where is the top offensive skill guys compared to other UND teams? In reality if everyone forward is healthy IMO UND really has only 4 top six guys...Mac, Parks, NS and Drake...with Chyzyk a borderline top 6 player. LJ and Murphy get PP time......and some wonder why our PP struggles.

Agree on Jordan.......Nick has the same talent to take over games as well. Those 2 IMO are the key guys going forward. LJ...he simply has taken a couple steps backwards from last year.

No argument with women's hockey but like Sic said Title IX dictates some of these "red ink" sports of which women's hockey is a big suck hole. Problem is the argument "hockey is to blame for all other sports ills"? MBB hasn't been relevant since when? Football will get there IMO under Bubba.

2012..........the UND athletic department had roughly $19.5M in total revenue. Like NDSU, a good portion of the total revenue (roughly 45%) of the athletic department is dollars directly from the university itself and student fees, but of the remaining roughly $11M in revenue which sport at UND contributed the biggest chunck of change revenue wise? To quote gfhockey...."simple question"?

OD has had 14 total goals in his first 3 years at UND and had 5 goals so far this season prior to Saturday. So 19 total goals in 3 1/2 years prior to Saturday........and Starman has seen him play in how many games prior to Saturday? I think OD is playing at a level this season that he hasn't played at in his prior 3 years. It is good to see and that will benefit this team greatly moving forward. Also it never hurts to get a hat trick on national TV but let's not get ahead of ourselves because of one game...although a hat trick from him every other weekend would be nice!

Agree but for some to even suggest that hockey in any way, shape or form is the reason for the lack of success in FB and MBB is ridiculous and flatout ignorant.
