Brad's take on it: http://undhockey.areavoices.com/2010/09/15/how-appealing-is-big-ten-hockey/

I doubt we'd see a 20-team NCAA playoff field unless we passed well over 75 D1 teams. A 16-team field with only 59 D1 schools is already pushing it. For awhile, people were talking that they might go back to a 12-team field if schools kept threatening to drop their men's hockey programs.

The new U18 team was announced: http://www.usahockey.com/USANTDP/default.aspx?NAV=AF_01_02&ID=233682 Grimaldi is on there, as is JT Miller, who also visited UND with Rocco. For those people that want to see a dman recruit or two added, there are only two uncommitted dmen on the roster. Also on the team is Matt Van Voorhis, who was rumored to be a Sioux fan before committing to DU. UND plays an exhibition against the U18 team on 12/18. The team plays a pretty good schedule of D1 teams...it will be interesting to see how well Rocco does against them.

I'm all for a new conference (or a new-look WCHA) if the BTHC occurs. I'd only wonder where our conference tourney would be held.

There were some rumors floating around the internet that Grimaldi had attended the WHL's Portland Winterhawks training camp. Especially when the Winterhawks didn't want to reveal the name of said player, he was small, and he was lighting it up. http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/juniorhockey/blog/buzzing_the_net/post/Unravelling-the-mystery-of-the-Winterhawks-mask?urn=juniorhockey-267420 http://communities.canada.com/theprovince/blogs/dubhub/archive/2010/08/31/whl-fans-shouldn-t-get-to-excited-about-grimaldi-tales.aspx http://gdrinnan.blogspot.com/2010/09/legend-of-red-no-23-grows.html Not Grimaldi though. Grimaldi is a right hand shot, the "mystery player" was a leftie.

It appears that we have a new recruited player: Welcome aboard, Miles! With him being on the U17 team, I would guess the earliest that we would see him at UND would be 2012 or 2013. Here are the stats from last season at SSM: http://ssmsports.org/hockey/teams/2009-2010/boys/u16/boys-u16-stats His 58pts put him 2nd on the team in scoring. He's a California kid!
-
Yeah, I thought that was funny too. Reading his blogs/articles, Roman can be kind of a toolshed sometimes, so not surprising. Either way, it doesn't matter, the kid always wanted to be a UMN player, so no worries. I'll take Forbort over him anyway.
-
You are correct. He also makes (name) appearances in movies: http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=3666657

That's weird. You'd think that the women's team would just vote on it like the men's team. The coach shouldn't have any say on the matter...the players should decide who they want to represent them as captains on the ice.

I don't think it went down like that though...where the Lammy sisters just took her C. From what I had heard, the Lammy sisters were both going to get A's, and Lewis was going to keep the C. Not sure what happened in between, with Lewis leaving the team. Who is taking over the C?
-
I wonder if he has the afterburners like that kid we had a few years ago from Schaumburg? Forget his name...but he was fun to watch!

So did Jonathan Toews if you listened to the MJ followers.

I'm not sure, I'm just going off what the SCSU fans were saying on USCHO. They made it sound like he didn't make the GPA requirements or something. So I would assume that he just needs to either take a class over or get his GPA back up in order to become eligible again. Weslosky transferred to Bemidji, and then wasn't on their roster for this year after his transfer year was over. Not sure where he's playing now.
-
It sounds like it, as long as he completes the required school work.
-
A bit of a blow to SCSU for this fall, with Soph forward David Eddy not eligible: http://kvsc.org/sports.php#1482 He would have been the 5th highest returning scorer for them, but he seemed to come on strong for them as the season progressed. He scored two goals against UND in the F5 Championship game last season.

David Toews to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL: http://whl.ca/david-toews-to-play-with-brandon-wheat-kings-p143667 It's the first "official" word of his departure that I've seen, even though we've all known for quite some time. Good luck to David.

Played on the U17 team with Grimaldi and finished 2nd to Rocco in points on the team. Rocco had 40pts in 36 games (before being called up to the U18 team), while Miller had 31pts in 46 games. He must play with more of an edge, as he was also 2nd on the team in PIM. For the Intl competition, he was also 2nd in points (behind Grimaldi once again), with 17pts in 14 games and a whopping 56 PIM...26 PIM more than the next guy on the team.

Wow, talk about drama over in Gopherland this offseason. It has been confirmed now...Leddy has signed and Birkholz has left the team due to the suspension (supposedly signing with Everett in the WHL). That's crazy. I wonder if Ambroz will come in now that Birkholz has left?

Nice! That's when I graduated too. I should make a comeback!!
