  1. First name that came to my mind as well. He sounds very Genoway-like.
  2. I bet it would be different this year if the Sioux get placed in the Madison regional, even if UW isn't there. There were a ton of Sioux fans here for last year's UW series, and it is the closest regional to GF, so Sioux fans could easily make the drive. Of course, I'm just biased being that I live in Madison and I want to see the Sioux play here so I can watch them live.
  3. Will they mention the Badgers by name...or just say the "school to the east"?
  4. I think that expectations were that he would sign with the Gophers. So, to media members in the Twin Cities, he has not met those expectations yet this year.
  5. I believe his dad posted here during his collegiate days, he could just use that screen-name and get in on the game. Being that we won't have a goalie, I think we need some talented forwards to offset that. So bring him in.
  6. That's a brutal bracket. I like Michigan's better.
  7. Wow, down 3 players in a matter of hours...
  8. The only way that UMN would face Army in the first round is if the Gophers were a #1 seed. I don't think they have enough season left to accomplish that feat.

    Injuries?

redwing77 doesn't let facts get in the way of his arguments.
  10. Strengths: Smooth skater, quick hands, stickhandling ability Weaknesses: Staying on his skates during goal celebration

    Injuries?

As a dman gets more comfortable in the league, he can take more liberties with the puck. I don't remember Chay doing that last year at all. But this year he is more confident and more used to the speed of the WCHA. I agree that LaPoint has that same ability in him (and Marto as well for that matter). But a coach will normally want to keep a tighter rein on a freshman, especially a defenseman. I would bet that next year LaPoint starts to blossom more and shows us more of his offensive potential. But for this year, I'm guessing that he is working on the defensive side of his game a bit more...which is what he is out there to do. We don't need him skating the puck up the ice every shift, we just need him to play sound, defensive hockey.

    Injuries?

It's harder to play hockey if you don't have a stick.
  13. I always just assumed that Dean was a Gopher fan after reading his posts, regardless of what he says. It's ok that he posts on here, but humorous that he tries to pretend to be a Sioux fan.

    Injuries?

I would say he is being micro-managed from ss.com, not the bench. How can someone be slow because of the coaches? He just lacks the foot speed of a dmen like Marto and Genoway. Which isn't a knock on him...not all dmen have to be speedsters, Finley and Jones come to mind, but they still get the job done. I have faith in LaPoint back on the blueline. He will only get better, and I bet he has a good end to his frosh season, and a great soph year.
  15. I posted this over on uscho as well, but thought I would post it here too: I can't believe the unbeaten streak has lasted this long. The Sioux have played some great games in that streak, and they have played some not-so-good games. But they have found a way to win, which is what good teams do. Now they face the team that handed them their last loss (not a good one either, with SCSU coming back in the 3rd). Should be interesting. People have said that they wouldn't mind if the Sioux lost again before the NCAA's start. I would have agreed earlier, but not now. The team is flying right now, and they feel confident that they can and will win (even if down by 3 to DU). I say just keep it going...keep that feeling going. Win out. Current 15 game unbeaten streak. Sweep SCSU. +2 Sweep First Round opponent. +2 Win both games at F5. +2 Win both games at Regional. +2 Win both games at Frozen Four. +2 There it is. It would be a 25 game win streak to end the season ( ), with a Broadmoor, a possible MacNaughton, a Regional crown, and a National Title. Can they do it? Who knows. Heck, SCSU may very well win a game or two this weekend, as they have alot to play for too. But this has really been a fun season to watch as a Sioux fan, and I would love to see them keep it rolling. Enjoy the ride. Go Sioux

    Injuries?

I thought Miller had a great game on Sunday. Showed really good speed and made some good choices with the puck that led to some chances. We will need him to continue to play well with Trupp's injury sounding like he may miss the rest of the season. I really hope that Genoway's injury is short-term. The Sioux are deep at forward, but not quite as much at defense. This opens the door for both Marto and LaPoint to both see icetime, but leaves us thin if another dman gets injured. Speedy and full recovery, Evan and Chay!
  17. You're assuming that the Sioux get swept at home in the first round and don't make it to the F5?
  18. So, who's #1 in the PWR now? Go Sioux!
  19. You can't get lucky if you aren't moving your feet.
