  1. I don't either. The people that are using that as a negative aspect to this year's team obviously didn't watch how horrible UND's overall team defense was last season...especially the early part of the year. Part of that falls on the forwards as well, but getting a fresh start on D isn't a bad thing from where things started last year.
  2. Here's Ciskie's complete list: https://kdal610.com/2023/09/12/8-thoughts-early-look-at-the-nchc/ I think he has SCSU and UMD both too high.
  3. Yeah for sure. Five teams with at least one 1st place vote and UND leads the way with 12 but still finishes #2 in the poll. I think it'd be hard to ignore the amount of forward talent on this UND team, and the pollsters agree...if the Dmen can gel early and Persson plays up to potential, this team has the skill on paper to compete for some trophies at the end of the season.
  4. Strinden wins the Annual Ironman competition: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/ben-strinden-wins-unds-iron-man-competition?fbclid=IwAR2kRis1eUe3Q3Vt-yKc3TAEhK8FMPLi7Uy5iHHBPGr7CyOOahbx5BFDh1w
  5. Congrats to Riese and Jackson! https://fightinghawks.com/news/2023/9/11/mens-hockey-jackson-blake-riese-gaber-named-to-preseason-all-nchc-team.aspx
  6. Preseason Media polls for Hockey East were announced: 1. BU (11) 156 2. BC (2) 135 Merrimack (2) 135 4. Connecticut 102 5. Providence 92 6. Northeastern 86 7. Massachusetts-Lowell 83 8. Massachusetts 79 9. Maine 74 10. New Hampshire 26 11. Vermont 22 Preseason All-Hockey East Team F Cutter Gauthier (So., BC) F Justin Hryckowian (Jr., NU) F Alex Jefferies (Sr., MC) D Lane Hutson (So., BU) D Scott Morrow (Jr., UMass) G Victor Ostman (Sr., Maine) Even though he hasn't played a minute of NCAA hockey yet, I would guess that Celebrini will be on that All-Hockey East Team by the end of the season.
  7. I wonder where else they might be headed for visits?
  8. Yep, good old Flin Flon! After they got married, they moved to Banff and got some farm land. Last I heard he was still there (they divorced 20+ years ago).
  9. Got my tickets for the Manitoba exhibition game today. Excited to see the team! I'll be in town from AZ for "not fun" circumstances (my dad's burial service...he died last year, but the service is Oct 6), so my aunt (my dad's twin sister) and I decided to stay another couple days and go to the game as well. It'll be my aunt's 2nd game that she's gone to since her college days at UND. She met her first husband, Larry Dobson, at UND...he was a forward on the UND hockey team from 66-69. I have worn #15 on almost all of my hockey teams because that was his # at UND as well.
  10. Season preview for both the U18 and U17 teams, which contain some UND commits as well as some prospective recruits: https://ushlprospecting.substack.com/p/ushl-2023-24-preview-usa-hockey-ntdp Current committed recruits Emery, Laurila, and O'Neill are on the teams.
  11. Some solid recruits and great pickups from the portal. They should be much improved this year. UW too. The B10 might be more tightly contested this year.
  12. Sounds like Lindberg is down to UND and DU for his final two. Would be nice to get all three of the F/M boys.
  13. Listening to Schloss' podcast for this week. They didn't spend too much time discussing practices and whatnot, but what he did say when asked about possible line combos from watching practice was all about how great Perron has looked. "unbelievable" "unpredictable and creative" "instant impact player" He said that Perron will be his vote for pre-season NCHC RoTY.
  14. Played 4 games for Huntsville in 20/21 then played two seasons at D3 St John's. Probably won't see any of very little ice time unless UMN has some forward injury issues.
  15. So close. Such a shame.
  16. Some big moves upcoming with the Hagens bros and Zellers. Honestly not surprised to see both BU and Harvard losing recruits with how many commitments both of those schools have been getting recently. Reminds me of the Eaves days at UW, where they had like 15-20 recruits lined up for each season. Would be shocked if the Hagens brothers don't end up at one of the Boston schools or UM/UMN, but Zellers would be a great addition to our current group.
  17. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/new-und-goalie-commit-caleb-heil-is-an-nhl-prospect-his-coach-says
  18. That would be amazing, would love to see it. Doubt it will happen, but we'll see!
  19. Following his dad's path by going to UM.
  20. And I think the addition of Simpson as assistant could pay dividends on recruiting as well. He’s a younger guy that can relate more to potential recruits and he also fairly recently went thru that process himself.
  21. Damn good list developing here. Forwards Croal, 03 Littler, 04 Panzer, 04 Slipec, 05 Klee, 05 Swanson, 06 Boisvert, 06 Pilgrim, 06 O'Neill, 07 Defense Jubenvill, 03 Ausmus, 04 Strathmann, 05 McInnis, 06 Emery, 06 Laurila, 06 Goalie Heil, 06
  22. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-lands-top-goalie-prospect-caleb-heil Welcome aboard Caleb! Nice to win a battle against Michigan.
  23. Updated list with Trethewey commitment. James Hagens LJ Mooney Logan Hensler (UW) Zachary Morin (BU) Sascha Boumedienne Sam Laurila (UND) Garrett Lindberg Cullen Potter Cole McKinney (UM) William Moore Lukas Sawchyn Charlie Trethewey (BU) Andrew O'Neill (UND) Caleb Heil Masun Fleece (PSU) Drew Schock Jake Stuart Jacob Rombach Cooper Simpson Carter Murphy
  24. Morin and Tretheway, they've had a good couple days.
  25. Lindberg would be an awesome get, for sure. Would just love to see an elite forward recruit join that class. Gotta win one of those battles again, eventually.
