    Jerseys

Not a jersey, but thinking about getting one of these in memory of the ol' Winter Sports Building...whatcha think? It's a "groundscrew jacket" with a vintage look/feel.
  2. Erik Johnson is not a bad player. He just hasn't lived up to 1st overall pick hype yet...he is still very young, having only played one year at Minnesota.
  3. Goon got into a pillow fight with a bunch of cute undergrads before the game, and then during warmups forgot to wipe off all the ketchup and mustard off his face from the hot dogs he ate...and someone thought he was wearing a war bonnet and face paint. Closest thing I can think of anyways...?
  4. I understand the arguments of no home playoff games for our teams without NCAA approval. But, the goal in this battle is to gain approval for the use of the nickname AND meet the NCAA's approval. The 2nd will be a challenge, but not undoable. This whole process will still take some time, but can be, and will be accomplished if we keep fighting, like our current nickname says we do. We are FIGHTING Sioux. Fight for what you believe in. If you fail, at least you tried. You have to remember, teams like our football team are a bit far off from achieiving home field for their respective sport. By the time the dust settles, the whole nickname situation should be relatively clear. If we have to play a year or two without possibility of home field for playoffs while we settle the case with the NCAA, so be it. It is worth the fight. I think even the athletes would agree.
  5. I just contacted Thomas Beadle on how to help this process going into the next step. Here's what he wrote: "If the bill is heard by the Education committee in the Senate as it was in the House, than the following Senators should be contacted: Chair: Layton Freborg Vice-chair: Donald Schaible Tim Flakoll Gary Lee Larry Luick Joan Heckaman Richard Marcellais Senate majority leader Bob Stenehjem would also be able to keep you informed on when it comes before a hearing. Thank you again for your support! The committee will need to hear the level of support that is behind keeping the name, and after the hearing that they will have, it will be important to have emails going out to the remaining senate members. Have a great day!" If someone can dig up the emails of those names listed, please post them here! Our voices are being heard. It's not too late. We NEED to let them know how many people are behind the Sioux nickname! Thank you Thomas Beadle for the help and support of the Fighting Sioux nickname, among everyone else who voted in favor of the bill!
  6. Frazee got the nickname Long Island Frazee...time to think of one for Genoe. How 'bout the classic "Genoe & Tonic". Are you ready to Tanqueray?
  7. No, just never got around to it. Life gets in the way sometimes. I promise they'll be there for March. Thinking about going retro again in the next batch. Just gotta learn a little geometry (<---hint) first.
  8. Pucks are one thing I never got into for whatever reason (not knocking it). I had a puck signed by the DOT line, gave it away. I have two different game pucks (one I caught during a Sioux/Gopher game at the Ralph and got a nice close-up on FSNorth ). I couldn't even tell you where they are, though.
  9. This link has one for sale for $10.00. I'm not sure on the trustworthiness of the site, seeing as it appears to be an old site, but it's worth a shot for only $10.
  10. From my experience, you will deal with plenty of scalpers.
  11. Thanks for the great pics! You mind if I use one for a future wallpaper?
  12. That would have been AWESOME...except it's awesome to see a guy lace it up as the team captain in an Original Six city like Chicago. We should be saying, too bad the Blackhawks didn't draft Oshie....instead, they took Jack Skille (ha!) with the 7th overall pick. Obviously that was a bit high for even The Osh in terms of pre-draft rankings that year, but TJ is a man-beast who is going to become a big time player. Hindsight is always 20/20, though.
  13. I tried sending you a PM, but your inbox must be full. Check your email, I'll send a message here in a minute.
  14. To be honest, if the Sioux don't win the MacNaughton this year, it will be a bit disappointing. We have, hands down, the most talented team in the WCHA...even the country. Denver has over-achieved, but are still pretty good, so to lose to them would be a bit shocking. Duluth is a real good team, so losing to them wouldn't be as painful, but we are still the better team. We just have to take care of business.
  15. I sent them a short message. I hope they listen. It's the least I could do even though I know it's a long shot.
  16. I'm almost positive everyone gets credit as Conference Champion in the event of a tie.
  17. There's still 12,000 people in a congested area surrounding the rink. It will never be perfect, but it should be better than years past.
  18. Ditto...best smell in the world. It is very unique to the Ralph, and everytime I smell it I know I'm walking in a building that is very special, no matter what time of year, because the smell is there year-round.
  19. I have some items that a few of you may be interested in. All items are for trade, not all items are for sale...though some are for sale. I will likely be adding more pieces from time to time here, so keep checking. If you have a trade idea that involves more than just one item for another (ie: jersey + cash for a different jersey), let me know. I am open to all offers and trades, so don't be afraid to pm me. 20. Matt Frattin didn't put up the any huge numbers this weekend, but the guy looked like an NHL player among many good college hockey players. Yeah, UAA isn't a great team, but there are some exceptional players in a Sioux uniform that he makes look like high schoolers, even though they are on the same team. The thing that was super impressive was his strength on the puck and the vision he had to make some stellar passes. He is a big-time player.
  21. I don't think the Packers need a star running back. They just need a guy who can be consistent and keep a defense honest to keep passing lanes open for Rodgers. The O-line is a huge help for that run game and to keep Rodgers standing...can't afford to lose him for any length of time. Nnamdi Asomugha from Oakland is one of the best cover corners in the league. Rumor has it that he has stated he would love to either play with the Jets or Packers. The only problem is, he'll come at a price, and that's not particularly Ted Thompson's style. Hypothetically speaking, let's say Green Bay signed Nnamdi. That would put Tramon and Asomugha at the CB spots, with Sam Shields continuing to grow at the nickelback spot. Charles Woodson would then move back to safety with Nick Collins. This also is huge in a dime defense where Woodson can move back up to CB, allowing Peprah/Burnett to come back in at safety. By the time Charles is done, Morgan Burnett will be ready to step into the role Woodson was in at safety. If the Packers signed Asomugha, I don't think you can find a better secondary in the history of the NFL. The Packers will likely need a DE because it will be very tough to fill the hole that Cullen Jenkins will leave because he is most likely not coming back. Cullen is a stud and one of the most overrated defensive guys in the NFL, but being a free agent, he will be wanting more than the Packers are likely wanting to give...which is no surprise to either side of the negotiating table by the sounds of it. James Jones will be a tough keep as well, which means the Packers will need to find a reliable WR. I'd say here's how the draft goes for the Packers (can't remember what other picks we may or may not have due to past deals, and too lazy to look): 1) O-line 2) D-line 3) 3-4 style OLB 4) WR 5) RB 6) O-line 7) Best available Matt Flynn has been talked about as a good trade chip. He's garnered some interest after his play against the Patriots. He's backed up Rodgers for a couple years now, so he's got a good understanding of a pass-first offense. His only downside is limited playing time, thus making it a high-risk/high-reward time trade for whoever would want him. I can easily see Thompson moving Flynn to move up in the draft in the first round if he feels like he can get an immediate impact player.
  22. The Sioux have played well the last three games, but I see this as a split weekend. The Huskies are better than their overall record for sure, and nothing comes easy being on the road. I know we've only had a small sampling without Chay Genoway, but I think the Sioux are much more balanced when he's not on the ice for 25+ minutes.
  23. Davidson should not sit. I prefer Mario sitting.
