2008 Oshie Sports Celebrity Golf Tournament In Grand Forks, ND
Big A HG replied to Yttrium's topic in Men's Hockey
One of the best in town. I'm pretty sure Karl Goehring lives in GF too in the summer. Not 100%, but pretty sure. I know he has the last couple summers anyway. Last year he had something going on, maybe this year as well. -
2008 Oshie Sports Celebrity Golf Tournament In Grand Forks, ND
Big A HG replied to Yttrium's topic in Men's Hockey
Chris Porter, Coach Osh, and I (along with a couple Warroad guys) won it last year...right coach! I don't know who yet Tim, but I think I'm getting a whole new team together since it's in GF. -
I thought I was the biggest fan ever....

I noticed the hair thing myself, and was clicking add reply as I saw you already mentioned it. It's one of the worst I've seen....either that or he has horrible hair.

I knew that would get brought up, but they do not play in our conference and not much thought is put into a conference title whether it's a regular season or playoff banner. Their season was a disappointment because they didn't win the title. The elite teams want national championships. If we win a conference title and don't win the national championship...it would be a disappointing season.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but Michigan finished the same as us this year.

I just saw that there is a list of cities you can submit essays to bolster their status, and Grand Forks isn't one of them. You can, however, submit an essay making a case for Cavalier, ND if you like. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/titletown/n...tory?id=3339921

The Ralph is meaningless in a story like this....especially since the Sioux have won exactly ZERO titles since playing in the new Ralph. There's plenty of great facilities in all sports throughout North America, many of which a team has actually won in. Writing a large paragraph on something meaningless to the story isn't going to get Grand Forks the term Titletown. Something tells me this whole story is set up just to re-give Green Bay the term in the long run.

Nothing has a name as appealing as Madison Square Garden...so many legends from all different sports/interests have been in that building.
-
ND high schools probably would win any high school championship count in the country because there are like 4 schools that have a chance at winning every year in like all the sports and half the teams make it to state.

The arena only holds around 5000 I believe, which in my opinion, would be too small.
-
Apparently mine wasn't either.

Isn't that what you did in the Brett Favre retirement thread?

This label is as old as the Green Bay tradition. This is something they earned years ago and has been forever a label of that team/city. To strip it from them just because of the drought they've had is like taking a historic label away from the Red Sox, or the Lakers or Celtics, etc... Green Bay earned this title years ago in the legendary history of pro football. This is not something you take away just to take it away.

I think if we want to score next year we'll have to ditch the dump and chase. We won't have the same size/strength/physicality that we've had in the past due to being so young. All our upperclassmen are going to have to kick it up two notches at least. Watty, Darcy, Martens, Kozek etc... Frattin needs to break out as well. The nice thing is that he has the ability to.
-
Why is ESPN even doing this....Green Bay is and forever will be Titletown USA.

I don't think any members here have had their official farewell announcements yet....hopefully all we lose are some of the idiots on here.

Did Genoway get cut?

[rant] So many Sioux fans make being a Sioux fan a joke. To see everyone just ripping apart a few people for not winning a hockey game is unbelievable. Do some of you honestly believe that these guys aren't trying to win or something? It's an embarrassment to see and hear what's all being said. When you lose 6-1, it's a team thing, not something caused by a few individuals. So many of you are on and off the bandwagon all year, every year, and need to just stay off. If they are so horrible, don't even waste your time cheering for them if you are just going to rip them the next day. Many of you are spoiled crybabies...spoiled being the key word. So many teams wish they could even sniff a chance at a game like this. 55 other teams dreamed they even had an oppurtunity to lose 6-1 just so they could have that chance at winning. Some teams will NEVER make it this far. Us..? We take it for granted that we'll be here, and some appreciate it, and some abuse it. Hakstol is a great coach. Finley is a great defenseman. Lamoureux is a great goaltender. Almost every team wishes they could have our facilities, our coaching, and many of our players. Hell, even the NHL wishes they had some of our players. Next year, when we are at it again with a fresh new team and a clean slate, I hope many of you are not a part of it, because it is a complete joke that some of you call yourself "fans." If there is anything to bash, it's you. [/rant] PS: Go Notre Dame!

Oh, I was told ACL...didn't read the paper, still in Denver. I'm probably wrong, but either way, it might leave a crack in the door. Marc is a big advocate of staying in school as well.
-
I can see Duncs being back, but only him if any really. Chorney tore his ACL during the game so maybe if the extent of his injury is bad enough he would consider coming back to rehab for the season...? I do NOT wish that upon him just to see him back, but it's just a thought.

Got in at about 2:30am last night local time. Let's get it on!

At least you wouldn't have to ask for a beer...err....soda since you'd be chillin right next to the cooler, haha.
