How many Sioux fans think the Gophs will get in because the NCAA wants 'em in despite the teams being chosen purely on PWR? The world may never know.

Eids was a few goals away from having an unbelievable season....not that it already wasn't. He only had 1 shutout, but had 8 one goal games. Hopefully he can add to the shoutout list, oh, about 6 more times this season....then next year, add a few more than that.

He (she) has every right to feel the way they do. Just because someone doesn't think they're going to win the National Championship every year doesn't mean they aren't a good fan. The team has been good lately, but so have the last 3-4 teams in the 2nd half. It's about winning titles. The 1997 team is the exception, not the rule. Do people who don't think their team is going to win care less, or don't cheer as hard? No. Do they want the team to fail? Absolutely not. The last few years the team has been one of the favorites each year due to their hot streak...and not one of them pulled it off. Maybe comments like this are what the team needs to bring home the chunk of wood the NC$$ gives out in April.

Hak's tenure WCHA finish: 04-05: 5th 05-06: 4th 06-07: 3rd 07-08: 2nd 08-09: 1st NCAA finish: 04-05: Title game 05-06: FF Semi-final loss by 1 06-07: FF Semi-final loss by 2 07-08: FF Semi-final loss by 5 08-09: ? So, each year we did slightly better in WCHA play, but each FF appearance we seem to have done slightly worse each year. Granted, the FF appearances are all pretty similar, especially the 05-06 season and the 06-07 season where we actually played better most of the game in the 06-07 game, but still. 5 straight Frozen Fours is unheard of, and I think it's time the team lets us down.

Not disagreeing with you necessarily, but just curious on how you know for sure the show isn't better without WCHA/HS talk? I agree, it'd be nicer to hear them talk about games/teams that pertain more to the fan-bases outside of the TC, but...the show runs on ads. The more ads, the better the show is for the station. With more local talk, the show might be making more money. Just a thought. We can keep dreaming anyways....

I know where you're coming from. I'm not faulting you for thinking that way. I just feel you gotta beat the best to be the best.
-
I don't care who we play. A championship team will beat whomever comes in their way.
-
This is the least talented team I've seen in Hak's tenure. I'll leave it at that.
-
I've heard two theories about that. 1) The Sioux nickname era is about to end. 2) They wanted to wait on re-ordering them so they could include the diagonal "SIOUX" on the ND shoulder patches. I hope it's the latter...

I thought UMD would fair better than they did a couple weeks ago against Duluth. All the same reasons this time around make me want to pick UMD, but everyone knows the Gophers will do just good enough to stay alive. Minn 4 Duluth 2

In the locker room. Maybe he was having some emotions in the locker room and didn't have the heart to go back out there? It's too bad no matter what the reasons were that the Sioux faithful couldn't see his last hoorah on the ice of the REA.

It's so disappointing Watty wasn't with 'em... Here's a pic I took as they skated off for the last time.
-
To do it, you need consecutive years of deep post season runs...which both Porter and Duncan have been privilaged to have been apart of. That, durability, and like you said, a good medical staff.

Where are the "skoling"? LA?
-
Parise will end the year with 49. Next year, look out 60 goals. Might be a stretch, but he's going to tear it up.
-
I'd agree with you. The fact that they don't suck is what's striking, haha. Now, a "KANGAS SUCKS" jersey would be realistic and true, and thus might be worth the money.

There's zero chance UAA can tie it.

Wow...I can't believe he's coming back...crazy. Here's an article I found: http://www.aeros.com/news/news/index.html?article_id=2094

It's been too long to tell...

OK, I'll be sure to support our weather when it gets national attention as well....I'd hate to not support our blizzards because it'd be so un-North Dakotan of me.
-
Their one game they'll get in the tourney has no bearing on supporting ND. North Dakota, as a state, shouldn't have to rely on NDSU b-ball, nore me cheering for NDSU.
-
I'm all in favor of supporting North Dakota as a state. I don't need to cheer for NDSU to do that.
-
Wow, thanks for the insight Captain Obvious...

I'm from Wisconsin, not North Dakota. I don't mind North Dakota, and I wish the state all the best. There are no hard feelings from me against ND like many others have (except winter....when does it end?!? ) I don't care about Red River. I don't care about Central. I don't care about any other high school. I don't care about U of Mary. I don't care about Mayville State. I don't care about NDSU. Heck, I don't even care much for other UND sports besides hockey. Why? My heart resides in Wisconsin. I was born and bred Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. I didn't grow up a hockey fan so I have no love affair with Wisconsin hockey. Sioux hockey grew on me and I love it more than any of my other sports teams growing up. Why should I root for a team from a state I'm not from, in a city I've never lived in, from a school I never attended, and from a school that is a rival to the one I attend? There's no reason. It's not a big deal for a school to make a tournament of 65 teams. If you don't win, it doesn't matter. Just like our Frozen Fours in hockey. They are meaningless. We didn't win, so we were losers just like everyone else besides the championship team. NDSU isn't going to win, so even if I didn't dislike them, there's no point in hoping they win knowing they won't. When I came here, no one had to tell me there was a rivalry between UND and NDSU. I found it out on my own from encountering doorknobs who feel the need to run their mouths when I'm minding my own business. I know everyone is not like that, and I know there are UND fans like that alike. But it still stems a bad vibe in my mind about a school that I don't like. I have no problems with you disagreeing with what I think. I expected it. I just don't understand why you care so much. I'm sure you're a nice person and all, and someone I could probably have a beer with and talk sports with for an hour and have a good time...but I'm going to continue my thought process on the situation. It's sports. The fun is rooting for your favorite team, and against the ones you don't like. It's not like NDSU is our military protecting our country and I'm rooting against them. It's a basketball team.

Depends on what it is. There's no reason for me to care about NDSU. As a state, I don't mind supporting ND, but what gain does the state have by me supporting NDSU b-ball?
