Their one game they'll get in the tourney has no bearing on supporting ND. North Dakota, as a state, shouldn't have to rely on NDSU b-ball, nore me cheering for NDSU.
-
I'm all in favor of supporting North Dakota as a state. I don't need to cheer for NDSU to do that.
-
Wow, thanks for the insight Captain Obvious...

I'm from Wisconsin, not North Dakota. I don't mind North Dakota, and I wish the state all the best. There are no hard feelings from me against ND like many others have (except winter....when does it end?!? ) I don't care about Red River. I don't care about Central. I don't care about any other high school. I don't care about U of Mary. I don't care about Mayville State. I don't care about NDSU. Heck, I don't even care much for other UND sports besides hockey. Why? My heart resides in Wisconsin. I was born and bred Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. I didn't grow up a hockey fan so I have no love affair with Wisconsin hockey. Sioux hockey grew on me and I love it more than any of my other sports teams growing up. Why should I root for a team from a state I'm not from, in a city I've never lived in, from a school I never attended, and from a school that is a rival to the one I attend? There's no reason. It's not a big deal for a school to make a tournament of 65 teams. If you don't win, it doesn't matter. Just like our Frozen Fours in hockey. They are meaningless. We didn't win, so we were losers just like everyone else besides the championship team. NDSU isn't going to win, so even if I didn't dislike them, there's no point in hoping they win knowing they won't. When I came here, no one had to tell me there was a rivalry between UND and NDSU. I found it out on my own from encountering doorknobs who feel the need to run their mouths when I'm minding my own business. I know everyone is not like that, and I know there are UND fans like that alike. But it still stems a bad vibe in my mind about a school that I don't like. I have no problems with you disagreeing with what I think. I expected it. I just don't understand why you care so much. I'm sure you're a nice person and all, and someone I could probably have a beer with and talk sports with for an hour and have a good time...but I'm going to continue my thought process on the situation. It's sports. The fun is rooting for your favorite team, and against the ones you don't like. It's not like NDSU is our military protecting our country and I'm rooting against them. It's a basketball team.

Depends on what it is. There's no reason for me to care about NDSU. As a state, I don't mind supporting ND, but what gain does the state have by me supporting NDSU b-ball?
-
I don't mind b-ball....I used to love it, but that has diminished every year since MJ retired. I'm not going to watch the NDSU game. Not gonna support them. Hope they fail miserably. Why? I don't go to school there. I'm not a North Dakota native. And, I hate their fan base's attitude. I have no hard feelings against someone that may feel the same about a team I like, so if you are a Bison fan, please don't be offended....not that I'd care anyways.

There are some days you have to look around you and wonder why everything and everyone else is closed (including NDSU) and think to yourself, maybe there's a reason. It'll take someone getting seriously hurt on a bad weather day for UND to cancel. Maybe they should be proactive instead of reactive.

I heard he's kinda shallow...

The 1997 team picture right after the title game shows Mr. Jason Blake sitting right next to the trophy.

This team is great. It's been fun to watch, but winning a title is in doubt in my mind. As balanced as we are, I just don't think the balance is good enough to beat 4 good teams in the playoffs. Call me a fair-weather fan. Call me an idiot. Call me what you want. I just don't think that we have the skill to win it all. This team is full of great guys who have good chemistry and want it as bad as anyone. But ultimately you need both skill and good luck to win it. The biggest thing is, we struggle against teams who play good defense and focus on protecting their own net. Teams we play know this, and should play a style that tries to prevent us from taking the opposing zone with any momentum.

And that Pony definitely ain't a horse...it lacks the goods in the pants.

The Gophers got the best possible first round matchup they could have hoped for. Gophers struggle against anyone with at least decent defense because their own defense is bad enough that they give up plenty of goals for the opposition. If anyone can stop their top line or two, Gophs struggle. SCSU plays the least amount of defense in the WCHA (besides Minnesota). I'm not going to say Gophers will get an easy sweep, but I think SCSU is the best matchup FOR the Gophers.

UND in 3. We have quite a bit more talent than MTU, but UND hasn't exactly been ripping teams a new one lately. Tons of close games, and a bad bounce or two could easily lead to an MTU win one night. The Sioux also struggle against teams that play defense like the Huskies do. Wisconsin beating us yesterday has no bearing on me thinking that MTU wins one game in this best of 3. I just feel MTU can steal one.

Yep...he added an assist as well in that third period to make it 16 points in his last ten (10-6--16).

My sister goes to UW-Madison and she just told me to tell everyone to go home because all the Sioux fans in Madison are congesting the city, haha. Sounds like another weekend of awesome road support and wish I could have made this years Mad City trip.

It's only illegal if you get caught....just like speeding.

Toews now has 15 pts in his last 9 and 2/3 games. (10g, 5a). He can still add to it in the final period this afternoon.

I doubt Walski gets the start tomorrow. However, I sure hope Finehage gets in there for someone. I'm not sure who he'd go in for. You'd hate to take out Jonesy cuz he's a senior, but getting Blood as much playing time as possible is good also.
-
Yeah, he was 33 years old.

I'll be an idiot and take the bait.... You can't like the: -Yankees and the Red Sox -Duke and North Carolina -Ohio State and Michigan -Packers and Bears -Texas and Oklahoma -Sioux and Gophers -etc., etc. It's an unwritten sports rule.

I don't think Jacques would have went to AFA if he could have went to UND. Didn't he commit to NMU or LSSU or something, then decommit because of some personal issues, then got accepted to AFA? I could be wrong and I understand that, but I just didn't think that was the story.

Bad for you maybe...

I love you Kangas. 1-1, 13:30 left in the first.
