  1. I was sitting directly behind the student section in the second half. While it's true that most students had left by the end of the third quarter, there were quite a few die-hard Sioux Crew members in their green T-shirts present until game's end.
  2. Yes! Go Jacks! I knew my favorite DI-AA team could do it.
  3. He banged his knee up last weekend at SCSU and the decision was made to use him sparingly in the FSI game.

    Are you running for something?
  5. Thank you. That being said, I agree with the Sicatoka that Olympic-sized ice sheet makes more sense in the NHL than it does in college. However, I doubt that we'll see any major changes in that area.
  6. Stats can be a wonderful thing, baby! Since 1995, UND and Minnesota, both known for being offensive-minded, up-tempo teams, have played 40 times -- 20 times on NHL ice and 20 times on Olympic ice. Here's the breakdown of combined goals per game: NHL ice = 175 goals (8.75 goals per game average) Olympic ice - 136 goals (6.8 goals per game average) For the math challenged, that's an average difference of nearly 2 goals per game. So much for the theory that the larger ice sheet creates more offense.
  7. Did someone say Spehar? Thank goodness I still have my "where are they now?" photo of him.
  8. Wow. Thanks. Did you hear about the Titanic sinking?
  9. Ah. So that explains how Denver beat UND 1-0 on the Olympic ice sheet at Colorado Springs last season. It was all that extra ice that the Sioux, a far more offensively talented team, had to work with.
  10. You're both wrong. I'm Gumby, dammit!
  11. To paraphrase Dean Blais: UND develops players for the NHL, not the Olympics.
  12. So does my boss.
  13. An attorney is using the legal language I drafted? I'm honored! Maybe I'm in the wrong profession. Thanks for providing the recap, kr.
  14. I've got Irish, Swedish, German and English in me. There's no end to the things I could protest.
  15. Dang! Got busy tonight and totally forgot about the coach's show. I've got to get myself back into the habit of remembering it on Wednesday night. Sorry about that everyone.
  16. I'll try to do it as often as I can.

Tommiejo, it's good to hear that you survived the hurricanes. Having been through the '97 Grand Forks flood, I can only imagine what it must be like in Florida now. Welcome back to another season of Sioux hockey.
  18. I guess if Dan Rather can build a story around fake memos, the SCSU University Chronicle can do a story about a nonexistent mascot.
  19. I'm going to blame it on trying to think and talk at the same time.

Murray centered the first line with Porter on left wing and Spirko on right wing. Zajac centered the second line with Stafford at left wing and Genoway at right wing. McMahon centered the third line with Massen on left wing and Kaip on right wing. Fylling centered the fourth line with Fabian on left wing and Canady on right wing. Defensive combos were: Jones-Greene Fuher-Smaby Schneider-Radke
  21. It's way too early to start complaining about special teams, especially when the team hasn't even had one full practice with the new coaching staff. Even though the Sioux did give up two shorthanders, they were 3-8 on the power play, 0-7 on the penalty kill and scored two shorthanders themselves. Has anyone mentioned the obscenities being shouted during the moment of silence for Wendy Blais? They seemed to be coming from the student section. Very low class, IMO.
  22. Greg Lotysz, former Sioux football player did the color commentary with Tim Hennessy. I interviewed Mike Commodore and Andy Murray between periods. The interview with Mike didn't go too well because I had four knobs to turn and messed up. The Andy Murray interview seemed to go better. It was great being able to interview two pros my first time out.

    Wendy Blais

My heart goes out to Dean and the entire Blais family. It is truly a sad day in Sioux Land. #1siouxfan22: I believe that Wendy had Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
  24. I prefer mine medium rare.
