It boggles the mind that people think they can solve problems or improve a situation by posting anonymously to a message board.

I remember before the new REA was built, there were all sorts of dire predictions that there was no way a town the size of Grand Forks could consistently fill an 11,400-seat arena. Now that the REA's average attendance (10,870) is second to Wisconsin (11,701) and and ahead of Minnesota (10,088), we're still getting dinged.

Nobody ever said it was. And I wasn't defending the behavior of the guys who gave you a bad time. They probably should have been thrown out. However, I get tired of the hyperbole and hysteria on this issue. It's constantly portrayed as people either A) being forced to behave as if they're attending church (which isn't true) or B) being allowed to engage in any sort of behavior they want (which is unreasonable to expect).

Wrong. If the taxpayers of North Dakota didn't fund the university, it wouldn't exist. Period. The university exists for the students. It doesn't exist because of the students.

So the standard you set for yourself, students and other Sioux fans is the lowest common denominator? Is that the image you want the community and university to have? Why?

So how does starting a thread here get people in your section to cheer? Do they all read this board? I'm guessing they don't. I understand why you don't like it when the people around you don't get into the game the way you do. But they have that right. Not everyone goes to the games for the same reason you do. Not everyone reacts the same way you do. But the reality is, there's not much you can do about it here. From my perspective, other than the stupid, immature, embarrassingly juvenile "Eff the Gophers!" chant, the atmosphere in the arena was fantastic. I was sitting there thinking, "Wow! How could anyone possibly complain about there being no atmosphere in the Ralph?" And then I come here and some people are.
