  1. I was simply providing a range for potential attendance based historical numbers. 50,000 to 75,000. FYI - was snacking on a small handful of walnuts when I read your post. So, life must be good. "Based on those numbers with the right teams playing in a 10 team format - Men's 45,000 and Women's 30,000 seems possible and the total would be 75,000. The bottom seems to be around 50,000. This year was 57,000."
  2. Right now, SDSU drives attendance for TSL Tournament Attendance 1) Men's attendance ranges from 22,500 to 40,000. 2) If SDSU is in the championship game attendance ranges from 36,000 to 40,000. 3) If SDSU is not in championship game attendance ranges from 22,500 to 24,000 for 8 team. And 31,500 this year for 10 team. Ladies is stable because USD and SDSU have owned the conference. Ladies range from 24,500 to 29,000 for 8 teams and 26,000 for 10 team. 2017 is the only year that neither USD/SDSU reached the finals. Attendance dropped to 21,000. Based on those numbers with the right teams playing in a 10 team format - Men's 45,000 and Women's 30,000 seems possible and the total would be 75,000. The bottom seems to be around 50,000. 3. Does the development of St. Thomas program help replace the Gopher X Factor in St. Paul in the future?
  4. Not all is lost thou. We still have tennis. Plus, all the kids got participation trophies. So, it is all good.

    Jerseys

Anyone interested in parting with a NODAK jersey from Las Vagas this year. My nephew is graduating from ASU (journalism major - covered the game down in Las Vagas - he tried to pick one up - but they were gone already) and I thought that I would pick one up for him as a graduation gift.
  6. Exactly, so they have more money available to support women's hockey because they don't have D-1 costs from the other sports. If you aren't a P5 school, you have to make difficult choices. Unfortunately, expensive sports with limited revenue makes the sport vulnerable. High Revenue/ High Cost - you can survive. High Revenue/ Low Cost - no brainer Low Revenue / High Cost - vulnerable Low Revenue / Low Cost - you can survive.
  7. Isn't Duluth D-II
  8. In my opinion, women's hockey is holding up women's hockey. WCHA is by far the best conference and none of the other conferences come close. When they limited the conference to 2 teams and the 3rd best team in the conference is ranked 4th or 5th and not playing in the national tournament. You are going to limit the growth of the sport within the WCHA footprint. In addition, when you run everything through one location (MSP) for conference tournaments and NCAA regional and frozen four. You are limiting exposure for other locations and schools. So, if you are NOT UofM or UofW why are you going to make the $2 million plus investment in the sport. Other Big Ten schools can afford that because of MENs sports in particular football and basketball. But, schools can not afford that commitment. Follow the money and womens hockey is expensive.
  9. Looks like you need to play zone against UMKC.
  10. New market, and great talent in the local market.
  11. Are trolling with that as a flood forecasting site? You do see the ".gov" right!!
  12. Min St., Augie, Ferris St., Grand Valley St., Wayne St., Metro St. (Denver), Colorado Mines are the only schools that I can think...
  13. RE: What's next for realignment? Welp, I don't think the paywall is going to get fixed this week, so I might as well make everything free for the next two days. I have a story I am contractually required to run tomorrow AM, and then I promise I'll share the low major realignment stuff last clue, and I promise I wont string yall along like this ever again it involves a D-II team It sounds like D-II school.
  14. Maybe Robert Morris - they play in the Horizon and are included in the Big South which is falling apart. Drake and St. Thomas looing to go scholarship.
  15. Downtown Sioux Falls is very nice with several good restaurants. Falls Park is very nice.
  16. What mess by the Summit League with streaming of games. All Summit League games should be on espn plus
  17. Good to hear that they are fixing Frost. Man they killed that place several years ago with some of the changes they made. For a while, radio and TV announcers had the best seats in the house - it was a mess.
  18. St. Thomas
  19. Well that last one would be literally nobody.
  20. Anyone else on UND want to be scored by Massner
  21. Sid at the Star Tribune and Lou Nanne are couple of water trucks for the Gophs.
  22. So, are you saying the ideal conference size is 7 teams for full round robin schedule 6 X 4 = 24 and 10 nonconference games.
  23. Add football and Hockey to Summit League - bring in both St. Thomas and Lindenwood. Football: UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, WIU, St.T, Lindenwood - 7 teams - opens up nonconference scheduling with MVC teams. Hockey: UND, Omaha, Denver, St. T, Lindenwood - Other NCHC Miami, WMich, CC (keep DU happy) and ASU teams can join as affiliates - just dump SCSU.
  24. To be honest, I am more worried about our QB's ability to hit pass route beyond 30 yards. It's feels like Tommy really struggles on the deep routes and we need that to really open things up on offense. It is the next step for the offense.
  25. Does it help build the sport? Does it give an opportunity for other schools to build programs? If the answer is yes to two questions. Then I would say yes.
